Introduction 1.1 This Information Notice provides details of the additional documentation required when applying for a Part-66 licence where the practical experience has been gained wholly, or in part, outside a Part-145 or Part-M approved maintenance organisation, and the introduction of the new B3 category. 2. Practical experience 2.1 From the 28 September 2012, where practical experience is gained outside of a Part-145 or Part-M approved maintenance organisation, the applicant is required to submit confirmation from the National Authority responsible for the maintenance organisation concerned, that the organisation is approved under the national regulation for the maintenance activities stated and that the signatory in Form 19 section 07 is a member of that maintenance organisation. 3. New B3 Category 3.1 From the 28 September 2012 the Part-66 licence categories will be extended to include the B3 category for certifying piston engined non pressurised aeroplanes of 2000 kg and below. Those holding a Category B1.2 licence endorsed with a group rating may continue to certify piston engine non pressurised aeroplanes of 2000 kg and below listed in group 3 and reflected in their group rating, subject to the scope and limitations detailed on their B1-2 licence.

    3.2 At the next submission for renewal or change to the licence, the document will be endorsed

    with the B3 category free of charge as it relates the existing B1-2 ratings and limitations. 3.3 Those who wish to extend their B3 privileges will need to apply using the Form 19 3.4 The CAA will not accept applications to add further protected rights. 4.
