1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Overview

Chevron Australia Pty Ltd (Chevron) is currently developing the gas reserves of the Greater Gorgon Area. Subsea gathering systems and subsea pipelines are to be installed to deliver feed gas from the Gorgon and Jansz–Io gas fields to the west coast of Barrow Island (BWI). The feed gas pipeline system is to be buried as it traverses from the west coast to the east coast of the Island where the system ties in to the Gas Treatment Plant located at Town Point. The Gas Treatment Plant will comprise three Liquefied Natural Gas trains capable of producing a nominal capacity of five Million Tonnes Per Annum per train. The Gas Treatment Plant will also produce condensate and domestic gas.

A total of nineteen wells are required on Barrow Island to support the Gorgon Project comprised of carbon dioxide (CO2) injection and associated management wells and produced water disposal wells. These activities are managed under the DMP accepted Environment Plan (EP) – Gorgon Project: Barrow Island Drilling and Completions Program (ABU120400712 Revision 1)

1.2 Scope of Addendum to the Environment Plan

This document is to provide information for a single product for assessment and acceptance by the DMP not previously captured / accepted in the Environment Plan – Gorgon Project: Barrow Island Drilling and Completions Program (ABU120400712 Revision 1).

1.3 Reason for the addendum

The contingency drilling fluid additive will be used on Barrow Island in the CO2 injection well program in the 12 ¼” interval to improve borehole conditions for drilling, wireline logging and casing running operations which are impacted by current borehole instability resulting in hole fill issues impacting operational efficiency. Pending acceptance, Soltex would be used well B-I6 and subsequent wells as necessary. The campaign for B-I6 well begins on 22nd May 2014.

2.0 CHEMICAL DISCLOSURE

2.1 Overview

All substances that have the potential to be introduced within the reservoir or subsurface formation over the course of the Gorgon Project: Barrow Island Drilling and Completion Program have been included within Table 3.3 of the Environment Plan: Gorgon Project Barrow Island Drilling and Completions Program with MSDS’s for these substances included as an appendices to the Environment Plan. Chevron wishes to use a contingency drilling fluid additive (Soltex) within the drilling fluid (Baroid Drilling Fluids – KCl / Polymer / Glycol System) already detailed within Revision 1 of the Environment Plan. The details of the accepted Baroid Drilling Fluids – KCl / Polymer / Glycol System are within Table 3.3 of Revision 1 of the Environment Plan. For consistency with the accepted information presented in Revision 1 of the Environment Plan, details for Soltex have been presented using the same format. Table 2.1 provides chemical disclosure information for Soltex. The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for Soltex is included at the end of this addendum. Chevron assesses chemical products for environmental suitability, prior to approval via Chem Alert (Chevron’s chemical management system), and considers Soltex to be suitable for their intended use. This assessment included but was not limited to:

The identification of hazardous / dangerous good status.

The identification of product toxicity.

Biodegradability.

An environmental risk assessment.

The technical application for which the chemicals are required.

Engineering measures

Adequate ventilation to control airborned concentrations below the exposure guidelines/limits. Hand protection : The suitability for a specific workplace should be discussed

with the producers of the protective gloves. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time. Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough.

Use material for its intended purpose or recycle if possible.
