37o JIC

37o seat angles are commonly used on medium and

high-pressure lines on heavy equipment to join

hydraulic hose assemblies to hydraulic system

components

Pipe Thread

In the SAE system, the sold male pipe thread fitting has

tapered threads and a 30o seat. The tapered threads

are used to create an interference seal when screwed

into a solid female port. The 30o seat is used to create

the seal with a swivel female pipe's 30o seat.

SAE Oring

In the Boss design, straight threads make the

connection while a rubber oring makes the seal. The

threads pull the fitting against the port which flattens

the ring and forms a seal that is excellent for high

pressure applications.

Oring Face Seal

In the Flat Face Oring Seal (FFOR) a seal is made when

the oring in the male contacts the flat face on the

female.

SAE Flange

Oring Flanges solved the problem of making large

diameter, high pressure connections without having to

use an extrememly large wrench. The port is bored

with a center outlet surrounded by a smooth flat face

which has four tapped holes and four mounting bolts

that tighten down onto flange clamps.

BSPP

British Standard Pipe Parallel Thread. BSP is the most

popular thread end in Great Britain. The seal on the port

is made with an oring or a soft metal washer on the

male. The BSPP connector is similar to, but not

interchangeable with our FPX. The thread pitch is

different in most sizes, and the thread angle is 55o

instead of the 60o angle found on NPSM threads

BSPT

British Standard Pipe Tapered Thread. The BSPT

connector is similar to but not interchangeable with our

MP. The thread pitch is different in most cases, and the

thread angle is 55o instead of the 60o angle found on

NPTF threads. Neither the British parallel pipe or the

British tapered pipe has true metric threads, although

many people find these threads “foreign” and conclude

they must be “metric.”

JIS

Japanese Industrial Standard threads. This coupling

looks similar to our MJ and FJX fittings. There are two

major differences - the threads are BSP and the seat

angle is only 30o instead of 37o .

KOMATSU

This fitting looks similar to the JIS fittings. The major

difference: Metric Threads, not BSP.

DIN

German DIN is the most common "metric fitting", with

threads and an inverted flare (either 12o or 30o ).

Available in light and heavy series. MM (standpipe

fittings) is also common. It is machined tubing on one

end instead of threads. Used with a metric nut and

sleeve to made with the same metric connectors as the

swivels.
