INCLUDES REMIXES BY VIBELICIOUS AND BRUCE HOAX, TWO EXCLUSIVE MASH-UPS AND THE DOWNLOADABLE MUSIC VIDEO. WHAT/WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO THESE DAYS? Since I’ve started DJing I’ve been listening to all kinds of new stuff. I’m getting a lot more into dance music—mostly electro and dark house. Of course, I still love my neo-soul R&B stuff like Erykah Badu, but I’m usually listening to older funk and soul of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. WHAT ARTIST WOULD PEOPLE BE SURPRISED TO KNOW YOU’RE INTO? My favorite stuff to listen to is still gospel music—I love a screamin’ black lady—like Karen Clark-Sheard or Kim Burrell. YOUR TOP 5 FAVORITE R&B/SOUL CLASSICS? 1. “Lalala Means I love You,” The Delfonics - It’s so pretty and I’m a sucker for a man singing in Falsetto. 2. “It’s Not Over,” First Choice - It’s so funky and always gets the dance floor going. 3. _ “Pusherman,” - Curtis - Mayfield - - - It’s - so smooth and vibey–perfect for a cool hang on a summer day. 4._“Clouds,” Chaka Khan - That whole Naughty album is genius. I love you, Chaka! 5. “All I Do,” Stevie Wonder - Is there anyone who doesn’t love this song? WHAT IS YOUR MUST-HAVE CD FOR A ROAD TRIP? I only listen to The Jamaica Boys in the car. IT’S 1985. PRINCE OR MICHAEL JACKSON? I’d have to say MJ. But I wanna know how is it possible that Prince looks the same now and MJ looks like...well, you know. MOST UNDERRATED PERFORMER, LIVING OR DEAD? KEVIN AVIANCE! His performances are life changing and I love him. I’m also producing for his next record, which is like a dream. WHAT ARTIST NEVER FAILS TO INSPIRE YOU? Erykah Badu has always been a big inspiration to me with her constantly evolving style and amazing songwriting. She also gives a great live show. I love that she’s created her own style and people love her for it. AND YOUR DREAM COLLABORATION? Me and Chaka Khan screaming at the top of our lungs. REWIND« If you’re not up to speed on the incredibly impressive abilities of Adam Joseph, allow us to break it down—he’s got mad skills. Creative and undeniably ambitious, the New York-based performer writes, produces, engineers, arranges and plays on all of his recordings. Also gifted as a singer, he’s been able to achieve success in multiple genres and make it look easy to boot. Still, his self-proclaimed style is “real neo-soul, R&B.” That said, don’t let the slight frame and impish features fool you—Joseph’s sublime soul performances have been known to bring down the house. Moreover, despite the contrast of his look and sound, he feels no need to conform to anyone’s expectations, “Soul Music is what I do because that is what comes naturally to me.” Currently, Adam Joseph is finishing his second solo album and busy at work providing beats and songs for an entire downtown culture of rising Hip-Hop, Rock and Dance Music personalities.
