MAY HAS BEEN A BUSY MONTH FOR YOUR PARSONAGE FAMILY! Meagan graduated from U of Arkansas! Woo Pig Sooie! Mikala finished her freshman year at SFA, Ax’ em Jacks! Needless to say I am in the breaking down and moving business but praise God one kid down, one to go and I get a raise! Lots of emotions run through all our minds when we encounter huge mile markers in our life such as graduation, finishing your first year of college, and being empty nesters. The scripture that comes to my mind going through this rush of emotions that cause us to be forward thinking comes from 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12. “And so we keep praying for you, that our God will make you worthy of the life to which he called you. And we pray that God, by his power, will fulfill all your good intentions and faithful deeds. Then everyone will give honor to the name of our Lord Jesus because of you, and you will be honored along with him.” God has a plan for all of our lives throughout our entire lives. The good news is that God’s plan is always bigger than we are. Why? So we will know that it is God working through us and not just us. That means we always have to be open to stretch ourselves, be open to change and develop a sense of urgency to be about moving forward with God’s plan for our lives. We simply cannot coast through life and do God's will at the same time. Why? Because we are not yet all that God wants us to be. Look at what Paul says... “We keep praying for you, that our God will make you worthy of the life to which he has called you...” Paul is saying that God's business in our life is always ongoing never stagnant. God wants what is best for us, and God is willing to help us get it by constantly tweeking our lives to do God’s will. There is a saying that you've probably heard before, and it is as true as it ever was: God does not give us challenges to match our strength; He give us strength to meet our challenges. This saying can also be applied to God's will--God gives us the strength to stretch ourselves to do His will. Our series A.D. is giving us a great example of this as we look at the life of Peter and the early Christian Church. Peter was called by God to be the leader of this struggling persecuted church, though the truth is that Peter did not seem to be a good candidate for the job. He was obstinate, impulsive, argumentative, sometimes violent, selfishly ambitious, undependable, likely to give in to peer pressure, and he had a bad habit of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. God's call on Peter was a tremendous stretch for this unpredictable disciple; Peter had to go way beyond his own skills and trust God to make him into the kind of person he needed to be. What eventually happened? Peter became a man of such power that when he preached, thousands committed their lives to Christ, and when he prayed God did miraculous things. In fact, Peter became such a dynamic man that crowds used to bring the lame and sick to the streets where he walked so that at least his shadow might fall on them. (Acts 5:15) So as we travel together as a church family through the mile markers of life, let’s remember that God is not through with us yet and that the best is yet to come! Journey Off The Map Vacation Bible School June 15th – June 19th from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Are you ready for the journey? We are so excited to an-nounce that we are setting off for a place unknown in just 2 weeks! Beginning June 15th and continuing through June 19th, we are going to search through the story of Daniel to see how God provided for His people every step of the way! Journey Off The Map takes your kids to uncharted territory where they will begin to understand that obedience to God can lead them beyond the expected. Each day we will gain a new understanding about our one true guide as we follow Daniel and his people on a hard journey to Babylon where we will meet king Nebuchadnezzar. No matter the new law or ex-pectation that King Nebuchadnezzar puts on God’s people, God is bigger, stronger, and shows up every time in a way that bring peace, calm and truth to all of his children. Throughout the week children ages 3 years old through 5th grade will rotate through age appropriate activities such as bible studies, crafts, music, missions, recreation and snacks! Each station is carefully put together so that the children will get the full experience of being a part of God’s people! Please join us for our 2015 vacation bible school either by registering your child, or volunteering your time as a youth or adult volunteer. So, toss the map, stick close to your guide, and prepare to listen for God’s direction in this journey that is unknown to us, but known by Him.

MOSAIC CONCEPTIONS

The family of Gene Goodridge would like to offer our heartfelt appreciation to our church family for being so supportive during dad's illness and pass-

ing. We appreciate the prayers that you lifted up for him as well as your presence when you stopped by to visit with him. His spirits were always lifted when Mike and Linda took the time from their busy schedules to stop by his house. We are especially appreciative of the dinner that you prepared for us after the funeral service, and we thoroughly enjoyed the excellent desserts that the Questers' Sunday School Class baked for us. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such a loving, caring church family. Donna Goodridge Loftin

WHO REMEMBERS THE GOOD HUMOR MAN?WHO REMEMBERS THE GOOD HUMOR MAN?WHO REMEMBERS THE GOOD HUMOR MAN?WHO REMEMBERS THE GOOD HUMOR MAN?

Everyone over 55 for sure! You could hear his bell ringing a block away—just enough time to run inside and beg Mom for some change. We don’t get to wear those neat coin dispensers, and we don’t bring those good chocolate-covered ice cream bars, but our Meals on Wheels team delivers a good hot meal and cold drink to about 50 folks. Many of those we serve meet us in the driveway or are sit-

ting near a window to watch for us. Always with a smile! We deliver those meals the first, third and fifth Fridays each month. It only takes about 2 hours to meet at the Presbyterian Church Meals room at about 10:50 am, visit a few minutes while Barb McGaffey and Paul Davis run to Stanton’s to pick up the food, then load your hot meals into coolers and cold drinks into insulated carri-ers and deliver them to the people on your route. There are 6 routes. The average route makes 4-6 stops, and route sheets have good, detailed directions to each home we visit.

Our FUMC Meals Team needs a few good gals & guys right now. We need one “regular” to fill a vacancy on Route 1, and we’ve just wel-comed Jim Siptak as a regular on Route 3. Feel free to ask our other “regulars” about what we do. They are Judy & Leland Stra-

cener, Lola Peters, Laura Robinson, Nancy Lipscomb, Doris Cody and Arlene Squires. Subs Betty Speed, Joanne Jonas, Eva Leonard, Ted Dunnam, Mina Rivera and Marilyn Thomas are often called to help on a route too. Please call or text Barb McGaffey (cell 713-858-6533) and let her know if you’d like to fill that “regular” spot or just be a “sub” she could call to fill an empty spot on one of those routes now and then. It’s a good humor blessing to everyone.
