She is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Division 1, Club Olympique Lyonnais, France, and she is the first woman to win a Ballon d'Or. She started playing football in Norway, in 2010. In 2012 she became top goalscorer with 25 goals in 18 matches. In the summer of 2014, she signed with the Olympique Lyonnais. Two years later she won the UEFA Best Women's Player in Europe Award. And on December 3, 2018, Ada Hegerberg became the first winner of the Ballon d'Or! Ada Hegerberg's mother and father are coaches, and her sister is a great footballer, too. When Ada was little, her elder sister was the captain of a boys' team. In their hometown, with only 7,000 people, it was not boys' football or girls' football. It was just football. But Ada didn't like football. She wanted to have "a real job." She laughs when she tells this story! Then, one day she started playing football and falling in love with the game! She wanted to be a great player, like Thiery! Ada Hegerberg has feminist ideas, logically. She says football needs equality, and equality is about respect, so a lot of things need to change in football. Respecting footballers includes respecting female footballers. But she says she's lucky to be in the Olympique Lyonnais because men’s and women’s teams are treated as equals.
