The wearing and replacement schedule should be determined by the Eye Care Professionalbased upon the patient’s history and their ocular examination, as well as the practitioner’sexperience and clinical judgment. Patients may tend to over wear the lenses initially. TheEye Care Professional should emphasise the importance of adhering to the initial maximumwearing schedule. Regular checkups, as determined by the Eye Care Professional, are alsoextremely important.

Daily Wear - Daily Disposable ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses prescribed for Daily Wear - Daily Disposable (less than 24 hours, while awake) as shown in Table 1, are intended to be worn once on a daily disposable basis and are to be discarded upon removal. All ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses as shown in Table 1, under the heading of Daily Wear - Frequent Replacement are to be cleaned, rinsed and disinfected each

• When daily wear users wear their lenses overnight (outside the intended indication),the risk of eye problems, including ulcerative keratitis is greater than among those whodo not wear them overnight†.

Studies have shown that the risk of eye problems, including ulcerative keratitis amongcontact lens users who smoke is greater than among non-smokers.Do not expose contact lenses to water during swimming, other water sports orbathing as this could increase the risk of serious eye infection from microorganismswhich could lead to vision loss. If lenses have been submersed in water, the patientshould discard and replace them with a new pair. The Eye Care Professional should beconsulted for recommendations regarding wearing lenses during any activityinvolving water.

Do not reuse or “top-off” old solution left in your lens case since solution reuse reduceseffective lens disinfection and could lead to severe infection, vision loss, or blindness.“Topping-Off” is the addition of fresh solution to solution that has been sitting in yourcase.Discard any remaining solution after the recommended time period indicated on thebottle of multi-purpose solution used for disinfecting and soaking your contact lenses.The discard date refers to the time you can safely use the contact lens care productafter the bottle has been opened. It is not the same as the expiration date, which is thelast date that the product is still effective before it is opened.Using multi-purpose solution beyond the discard date could result in contamination ofthe solution and can lead to severe infection, vision loss, or blindness. To avoidcontamination, DO NOT touch the tip of the container to any surface. Replace cap afterusing. DO NOT transfer to other bottles or containers.To adequately disinfect the lenses, rub and rinse the lenses according to therecommended lens rubbing and rinsing times in the labelling of the multi-purposesolution. Rub and rinse lenses for the recommended amount of time to help preventserious eye infections.Never use water, saline solution, or rewetting drops to disinfect the lenses. Thesesolutions will not disinfect the lenses. Not using the recommended disinfectant canlead to severe infection, vision loss, or blindness.Replace the lens case according to the directions given by the Eye Care Professional orthe manufacturer’s labelling that accompanies the case.

PRECAUTIONS

What to do if problems occur

PLEASE ADVISE YOUR PATIENT TO REMOVE CONTACT LENSES IMMEDIATELY AND SEEK ADVICE FROM THEIR EYE CARE PROFESSIONAL.

Empty and clean contact lens cases with digital rubbing using fresh, sterile disinfectingsolutions/contact lens cleaner. Never use water. Cleaning should be followed by rinsingwith fresh, sterile disinfecting solutions (never use water) and wiping the lens caseswith fresh, clean tissue is recommended. Never air-dry or recap the lens case lids afteruse without any additional cleaning methods. If air-drying, be sure that no residualsolution remains in the case before allowing it to air-dry.Do not store your lenses or rinse your lens case with water or any non-sterile solution.Only use fresh multi-purpose solution so you do not contaminate your lenses or lenscase. Use of non-sterile solution can lead to severe infection, vision loss, or blindness.

If patients experience eye discomfort, excessive tearing, vision changes, redness of the eyeor other problems are experienced, they should be instructed to immediately remove theirlenses and the wearer should promptly contact their Eye Care Professional. It isrecommended that contact lens wearers should see their Eye Care Professional routinelyas directed.

Tap water contains many impurities that can contaminate or damage the lenses and may lead to eye infection or injury.

Be aware that wearing a darkened ACUVUE® OASYS with Transitions™ lens on only oneeye is not recommended because it may cause disturbances in the patient’s ability toaccurately judge depth and the motion of objects. It may also create a cosmetic concern.Therefore, unilateral vision correction is not recommended for these contact lenses.Be aware that ACUVUE® OASYS with Transitions™ contact lenses are not intended foruse as protection against artificial light sources, such as sun lamps, lasers, etc.The patient should be advised to never stare directly at the sun or at an eclipse with orwithout ACUVUE® OASYS with Transitions™ contact lenses.
