Acts 1: 1-7
“Waiting for the
Revolution”
Acts 1: 4-54 On one occasion, while [Jesus] was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem,
but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.5 For John baptized with
water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.””
Matt. 3:11 / Mark 1:8 / Luke 3:16 / John 1:33
“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more
powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you
with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
John 14:26“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind
you of everything I have said to you.”
John 15:8“When He comes, He will condemn
the world of guilt in regard to sin, righteousness, and judgment.”
John 20: 21-2221 Again Jesus said,
“Peace be with you! As the Father
has sent me, I am sending you.”
22 And with that he breathed on
them and said, “Receive the Holy
Spirit.”
In order for us to be empowered
for fruitful use by the Holy Spirit, we must be first be authentically
cleansed by the Holy Spirit.

Fire is a symbol for:Cleansing & Power
The Cleansing “Breath of Life” that
Jesus gave to the Apostles signifies an impartation of the regenerate life of
God, which we can’t acquire on our own; only in Jesus’ name.
If the Holy Spirit’s role is crucial
to us being Cleansed
Empoweredand Guided
to rightly fulfillJesus’ Mission…
Waiting for the Spirit makes perfect sense!
Acts 1: 6-7
[Jesus] said to them: “It is not for you
to know the times or dates the
Father has set by His own authority.”
If Jesus’ Commission is so “Great” and the need for salvation is so “urgent,” why have the disciples wait?
Lamentations 3: 22-2622 “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions
never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. 24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for Him.” 25 The LORD is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks
Him; 26 it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.”
Psalm 130: 5-6 (A Song of Ascents)5 “I wait for the LORD, my soul waits,
and in His Word I put my hope.6 I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.”
Trust in God’s timing, just like Jesus did...
Timing is Everything!Don’t get ahead of God’s Provision!
Wait “watchfully” for Him!
