Peat accumulated on the Tokachi plain millions of years has slowly transformed into brown coal, and the hot spring water filtering through those brown coal earth strata takes on a brown color, and is now called moor onsen. The alkaline hot spring contains dissolved decayed plant matter to create a beautifying water quality that smooths the skin.

数百万年前、十勝平野に堆積していた泥炭が変化したものが亜炭で、亜炭を含む地層を通してわきでる温泉が、琥珀色の「モール温泉」です。腐植物質がアルカリ性の温泉に溶け出して、つるつる感のあるマイルドなお湯（美人の湯）を作り出します。
