Concept/Content: Water has many uses. Water is used for drinking, cooking,

cleaning and recreation. Water keeps us clean.

Objectives: After watching video and observing pictures, children should be

able to:

• Describe the pictures presented

• Tell at least for things water is used for

• Count to ten

• Tell what would happen if we didn’t have water in any one of the uses

(cook, fun, clean, drink)

describe what is happening and tell how water is being used in each picture.

Children should also tell what would happen if we didn’t have water to drink,

clean, cook, bathe, or have fun.

• Tell what water is being used for in each picture?

• Tell what would happen if we did not have water in any of the five

areas (drink, clean, cook, bathe, have fun)?

Guided Learning

Activity Title: How many cups?

Introductory Activity: Children and parents will count from 1 - 10 as they

sing along with video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR-cfDsHCGA

How to do: (Water is used to cook. Sometimes we have to measure the amount of

water we need to cook.) Parents will get 3 pots of different sizes and a cup.

Parents will help children to count the number of times the cup will have to be

filled to full each pot. Record the number of cups each time the pots are filled.

Children will then complete the worksheet. (see resources)

Parent’s checklist: Were children able to:

• Count the number of cups needed to full each pot?

• Complete the worksheet?

• Count to ten?

In/Outdoor Play:

Activity Title: Sprinkle Fun

How to play: Using a sprinkler or hose, create spray of water and have

children run through the water.

If children cannot engage in this activity because of the child’s health or you

do not have sprinkler or hose, let children pretend that they are playing in a

sprinkler water spray

Guided Creative Activity

Activity Title: My First Puzzle

How to play: Parents will assist children to paste the picture of the boy

drinking water found in the resources above to back of the puzzle template.

Parents will cut out the puzzle by following the marking on the back of the

picture.

The children will have fun fitting the puzzle together. Children can talk

about the picture. Parents may ask children, “Why do you think the boy is

drinking water.” The children may even make up a story about the picture.

Parent’s checklist:

• Did children help to paste the picture on the puzzle template?

• Were children able to put the puzzle together?

• Were children able to answer questions about the picture?

• Explain in own words how Cussly learned not to waste water

• Give two ways to save water

• Repeat the Cussly Song

Follow-Up: Parents should help children find one other way water is used

that was not discussed today. Children should draw this use and paste it in

their scrapbook.
