They will learn to identify some personal characteristics, interests, and preferences as well as identify some common characteristics of occupations. 1. Create a coloring book of occupations. When a page is finished, talk with your child about the occupation in the picture. You might ask some of these questions to get the conversation going:  Does this person work alone or in a group? Which would you prefer?  Does this person work inside or outside? Which would y ou prefer?  Does this person work during the day or during the night? Which would you prefer?  Does this person wear a uniform? Would you like to wear a uniform?  Does this person have to convince people to change their minds or their behavior or get people to buy something? Would you like to sell things or influence others?  Does this person travel or stay close to home? Which would you prefer?  Does this person work with his or her hands? Would you like to work with your hands?  Does this person give directions or follow directions? Which would you prefer?  Does this person use math? What kind of reading and writing does he or she do?  What other kinds of workers does this person work with? 2. Your child might add pictures by drawing his or her own people or by finding clip art or pictures online or in other coloring books. 3. Once your child has colored most of the pictures, talk about them in comparison to one another.  Which is your favorite picture?
