Activity 3- Creating your own altar/paying your respects–Think about how you are going to
create a special altar or space to honor a loved one. Use the previously viewed videos, articles and glossary of emotions to help you to answer the following questions and to help you prepare your special space/altar.
What are the feelings you have/emotions you feel when you think about your loved one?
Write about a special memory you have about your loved one. Share it with a classmate.
How is your altar/ special place going to reflect the life, interests and culture of your loved one?
What were the favorite dishes of your loved one? Why did he/she love them so much?
Possible projects: Draw an altar with the special things that represent your deceased loved one/s.
Put together mini altars in your classroom and have your own special celebration honoring the day
of your dead ancestors.
Create a virtual altar via PPT about your loved one or a video that you can share with your class.
