The Spirit of BC Community Committee involves a network of people and organizations working together to promotecommunity spirit in Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge. The Committee supports initiatives that provide local citizens with an opportunity to showcase our community, our sense ofpride and our accomplishments. A few examples:

The 20% physical activity challenge by the year 2010The Committee and the Parks and Leisure Services Commission are both committed to active communities, and are working together to increase the physical activity of citizens by 20% by 2010..

Walk Your WayThe Committee is a partner in the Parks and Leisure Services Commission active community campaign, designed to increase the active participation of local residents through walking. Look for walking tips, events, contests and trails at www.mapleridge.org or www.pittmeadows.bc.ca in the Parks and Leisure Services section under Leisure Programs.

The 2008 Disability Games The Committee encourages the involvement of our citizens in planning active community events such as the Disability Games. The Games promote the awareness of sport, recreation and physical education needs of British Columbians with disabilities. In 2008, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows will host this event.

Show your support by joining in the activities promoted by the Spirit of BC Community Committee as an ‘active’ participant, acommunity volunteer, or a project sponsor.

A healthy community gives energy to our citizens.
