nostalgia and a healthy dose ofAn animated comedy adventure with a touch of

An animated musical comedy adventure set in a small Australian

outback town, Li’l Elvis Jones and the Truckstoppers is about a boy with a gift for music, a talent for trouble

and a desire for only two things – to find out who he really is and be a

normal kid again.

Li’l Elvis spends his days entertaining truck drivers at his parents’ roadhouse

by playing Elvis Presley songs, but he is sick of the music and of his mum’s

insistence that he is “the King” reborn. He’s determined to establish his own identity

and so, with his friends Lionel and Janet, creates a sound uniquely his own – Didgibilli

Rock. But when greedy millionaire WC Moore hears the band play, he sees an opportunity to make a fortune by transforming Li’l Elvis’

town into a 1950s-style theme park. Now it’s up to Li’l Elvis to foil the evil WC, or his town will

be lost forever.

Li’l Elvis Jones and the Truckstoppers was produced for the ACTF by Australian animator, Peter

Viska, and is an excellent resource to teach about the history and production process of animation; as

well as for its insights into popular culture.

VOLUMES 1 & 2

Although she’s a lively, smart-lipped kid with plenty of courage and attitude, the truth is she feels as if she doesn’t belong (and with a father known locally as “The Underpant King” who could blame her?) - but eventually Taylor must confront the truth – she is who she is.

Despite frequent flights of fantasy where animals suddenly talk, and Egyptian mummies come to life, each episode is firmly anchored in reality – it sure is truthful – and also very funny.

Mortified is a young girl’s journey towards self-acceptance.

Year Level: Middle Primary (4-5), Middle Years (5-9)

Curriculum Study Areas: English, Arts (Media), Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Physical Education (Personal Development)

Themes/Topics: Family, narrative, stereotypes, humour and satire, relationships, adolescence, growth and development, values, personal and social capabilities, literacy, gender

On the brink of adolescence, a girl’s got a lot to deal with; a changing body, a flood of hormones, relentless judgment by her peers, even perhaps the stirrings

of a first, unrequited crush. In Mortified, Taylor Fry is confronted by the lot.

The ACTF has taken some of its most entertaining, engaging and creative short form content and packaged it all together for use in the classroom. Stubbies supports teachers to encourage students to be creative and develop higher order thinking skills.

Students are increasingly becoming the creators of short form content, with many involved in uploading videos, images, music and posts, and other types of media into spaces designed for social networking. For this reason it’s important to provide students with high quality, locally made, short digital content in the classroom to offer opportunities for critiquing, deconstructing, reconstructing media and to inspire students to generate ideas, and possibilities not yet realised!

Stubbies (Volume 1) includes videos from the following programs:
