    Barranquilla is a city on the Caribbean

    Coast located in northern Colombia. The city

    is the capital of the Department of Atlntico.

    With about 1.2 million inhabitants, it is the

    4th largest city in Colombia after Bogota,

    Medellin and Cali. The city is situated on the

    Magdalena River and about 13 km from the

    Caribbean Sea. Barranquilla is home to the

    2nd largest carnival in the world. Only the

    carnival of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil is larger.

    It is annually held 4 days before Ash

    Wednesday. The carnival is also on the list

    of UNESCO.

    WEATHER

    The climate of Barranquilla is dry or tropi-

    cal; the average temperature is between 25

    and 35 degrees year round.

    Salgar and Santa Veronica: A place with typi-cal restaurants, ideal for relaxing tourist.

    ho de guandul (a soup made ofpigeon peas or "guandules" and meat), bocachicofrito (fried fish from the Magdalena river), san-cocho, and fritos (fried foods), including arepasand empanadas. Try to go to "Las Flores" in thenearbies "Bocas de Ceniza". There are manyseafood restaurants next to Magdalena River.Very goodfood and environment.
