Stage one of the project was completed in February 2013 with the build of the 330/132 kV substation at Williamsdale. This project is a joint undertaking between the ACT Government and TransGrid, the owner, operator and manager of the NSW and ACT electricity transmission network. TransGrid and the ACT Government have worked together collaboratively over a number of years to develop a project that meets and balances a range of objectives. Site selection and location A number of options have been considered for the arrangement of a new switching station and associated transmission lines. These were subject to a multi–criteria assessment considering many factors including: > Security of supply > Impact on urban development potential > Environmental and heritage values > Cost of infrastructure > Land use planning, amenity and co–location > Technical requirements. Through a rigorous site selection process and collaborative working group with the ACT Government agencies, a site for a new switching station had been identified and was approved by the ACT Government. This project is a joint undertaking between the ACT Government and TransGrid, the owner, operator and manager of the NSW and ACT electricity transmission network.

TransGrid and the ACT Government have worked together collaboratively over a number of years to develop a project that meets and balances a range of objectives.

Site selection and locationA number of options have been considered for the arrangement of a new switching station and associated transmission lines. These were subject to a multi–criteria assessment considering many factors including:

> Security of supply > Impact on urban development

potential > Environmental and heritage values > Cost of infrastructure > Land use planning, amenity and

co–location > Technical requirements.

Through a rigorous site selection process and collaborative working

group with the ACT Government agencies, a site for a new switching station had been identified and was approved by the ACT Government. This site is shown on the map overleaf.

Working with youTransGrid is committed to working with you throughout the development of this project. We will continue to provide residents and rural lessees and interested community members with information about the project on a regular basis.
