• Open the Lesson 1\Aquo_Financial.pdf file– The file opens in Full Screen mode– Press the Escape key to exit Full Screen– The Open in Full Screen mode option is part of
the file properties

What is Acrobat/PDF, and what can it do?
• Adobe Portable Document Format• electronic version of a printed document,
easily printed on nearly any printer• delivery mechanism• collect form data• electronic document review system
What is Acrobat not?
• A way to create content• A replacement for your other applications
What do we create with Acrobat?

Acrobat Pro vs. Adobe Reader
Acrobat X allows
• Creation of PDF files• Modification of navigation• Modification of content
Adobe Reader allows
• Free access to PDF content• Filling of forms• Participation in reviews
(per PDF author)
Lesson 2: Exploring the Work Area
• Please open Lesson 02\Conference Guide.pdf• Acrobat’s interface is sticky– It stays the way you leave it
• The new interface includes 4 main areas– Quick Tools– Common Tools– Navigation Panes– Task Panes
Quick Tools bar
• Where you customize your Acrobat workflow• Likely to change often, and based on tasks or
projects• Review options• Practice resetting tools

• If you’re not careful, your toolbars will quickly look line previous versions of Acrobat (very cluttered)

Hey, I don’t see an Acrobat menu item…
• If the Acrobat menu item is not present in MS Word:– Open Acrobat X– Select the Help > Check for Updates option
Choose Acrobat > Preferences from the Word menu bar
Map Headings to Bookmarks
• Headings will map automatically
• Consistent use of styles is key
Produce PDF
• Choose Acrobat > Create PDF
