Acetone DerivativesMethyl Isobutyl Ketone (MIBK) PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) is a colorless liquid exhibiting a faint ketonic and camphor-like odor. It is one of the most useful among the acetone derivative solvents and has a medium evaporation rate.

MIBK is stable and does not polymerize. MIBK is highly compatible with a variety of organic reagents and is a good solvent for a wide range of industrial materials.

    APPLICATIONS

Methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) End uses for MIBK include coating solvents, rare-metal extraction, process solvents for adhesives and as a chemical intermediate. MIBK can also be used in oil and gas applications.

Methyl Isobutyl Carbinol (MIBC) PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Methyl isobutyl carbinol (MIBC) is a liquid derivative of acetone with a pungent alcohol odor. It has limited solubility in water, but is miscible with most organic solvents.

    APPLICATIONS

Methyl isobutyl carbinol (MIBC) The main uses are as an ore floating agent and a lubricant oil additive. Further end uses of MIBC include use as a latent solvent in the production of nitrocellulose lacquers and frothers, talc processing and surfactants; with aromatic diluents as a solvent for ethyl cellulose, urea-formaldehyde and alkyd resins; and as a raw material in the manufacturing of methyl amyl sebacate and methyl amyl phthalate, which are used as plasticizers.
