We are separate from the world

Ø Does your job/work life resemble everyone else in the world? Is anything missing?

Ø What if God wants to do something amazing in your work/home, different than what the world suggests and expects?

Power of the Holy Spirit

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” - Acts 1:8 (NKJV) “Power” = Greek “dunamis” = dynamite

1st reference to the Holy Spirit

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” - Genesis 1:1–2 (ESV) The same power was at creation!

The Holy Spirit in the O.T.

Ø The Holy Spirit is a Person (“breath”) Ø Wherever the Holy Spirit is found, we see

life, order, and redemption Ø We do not have a comprehensive view of

the Holy Spirit in the O.T. Ø However, we see specific instances where

the Holy Spirit came upon individuals § Mostly prophets, priests, and kings

“And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. -- Joel 2:28

John 14:16-17

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him…

Helper = Advocate or Counselor
