To quote an old adage, “Time flies when you are having fun.” 2013 was packed with fun and so many exciting things happened with the Club. One of the nicest additions to the Club is having Angela as my sidekick. She recently commented that she has never been so busy! We may be busy, but we still have time to enjoy our grandchildren! Larry and I had an opportunity to go to Israel in December and it was an amazing trip. Larry had never been there and I hadn’t been back to Israel since 1978 – so much has changed! Of course we were tourists, but I kept thinking this would be a fabulous destination for members of the Club. I am fairly certain you will see Israel offered in 2015. Now, let’s find out about our recent adventures. We started the last part of 2013 with a fantastic visit to New York City, where we visited the 911 Memorial (very moving), ate a fantastic dinner at Carmine’s, went to a Broadway show (chosen from several), some walked to the "Today Show" and some visited the top of the Empire State Building. After New York City, we embarked on the NCL Gem and sailed for Halifax, St. John, Bar Harbor, Boston and New Port. The weather was great. The color of the trees was not as good as we hoped – but it was still a magnificent trip. Also in October, we had our last mystery trip of the year. Our destination was Marshalltown. We saw many treasures in this town such as; The Glick-Sower House, The Impressionist Gallery (Mr. Fisher’s art collection includes a Degas, a Pissarro, a Signac and a Matisse), and the Grimes Nature Center. The day was easier than most and everyone had a great time. November arrived and members joined us for the AARP safe driving class. Richard Miller was our teacher and all 20 people walked away with a greater knowledge of safe driving habits. In December, we headed east to the Amanas and enjoyed the Tannenbaum Forest, lunch at the Ox Yoke Inn, and the funny Church Ladies at the Old Creamery Theatre. Read on to see what is happening in 2014. ...Happenings

Cost: $5495/person double occupancy

Talk about an adventure, we have one for you! If you have been to Alaska before, you didn’t see it this way. We are going to be on a small ship that accommodates only 32 people. This will allow us to go places that the big ships can’t – like bays and inlets that are off the beaten path. There will be a naturalist onboard to enhance our cruise. Come see Dawes Glacier (we'll get close enough to drink glacier water), Tongass National Forest with majestic Ford's Terror and many waterfalls. Whale sightings and the stillness of the night will amaze us. This is an all-inclusive trip; airfare, hotel stay, gratuity to the crew and all off-ship excursions, drinks, all of the on-board meals and more.
