201 7 | Estate Pinot Noir sta. rita hills | santa barbara county The 2017 Sanford Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from our two estate vineyards: the historic Sanford and Benedict Vineyard (88%) and La Rinconada (12%). Both of these stellar vineyards are in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation. A wide range of Pinot selections are planted on these sites, and our 2017 is a blend of 8 of these clones from different soil types. 2017 was the 6th year of severe drought, but the wines have zesty acidity balance with fleshy palates. This Pinot is bright red ruby in color and is bursting with cherries and baking spices, along with savory notes of lavender and star anise. The palate delivers dense dusty, cherry flavors with balanced acid and tannin structure, which carries onto a lovely finish.
