Coorparoo and Districts Neighbourhood Plan October 2015 Newsletter No. 1 Brisbane City Council is preparing a neighbourhood plan for the Coorparoo and Districts area, which includes parts of Coorparoo, Greenslopes, Camp Hill, Holland Park and Holland Park West. Once complete, the neighbourhood plan will become part of Brisbane City Plan 2014 (City Plan) to guide new development. The process is starting now and Council is encouraging the local community to be involved. The area is close to the Brisbane CBD and is recognised for its hillside character, pre-war housing, and established open space network including CB Mott Park and Norman Creek. Logan Road is also an important road corridor containing local centres at Greenslopes, Greenslopes Mall and Holland Park, identified in City Plan as locations for future growth. In preparing the neighbourhood plan, Council will work with the community to: identify residential and employment opportunities around local centres improve access to public transport, and enhance pedestrian and cycle linkages enhance the vibrancy of centres through improved building design and streetscapes provide for new dwellings while continuing to protect valued character housing.

Coorparoo and Districts Neighbourhood Plan

Brisbane City Council is preparing a neighbourhood plan for the Coorparoo and Districts area, which includes parts of Coorparoo, Greenslopes, Camp Hill, Holland Park and Holland Park West. Once complete, the neighbourhood plan will become part of Brisbane City Plan 2014 (City Plan) to guide new development. The process is starting now and Council is encouraging the local community to be involved.

Neighbourhood plan timeline Background research Late 2015–mid 2016 (current stage) Council is undertaking research and community consultation to understand the key issues and opportunities affecting the area’s future.

Draft strategy Mid–2016 Council will develop a a draft strategy to set the direction for the neighbourhood plan. This stage will include community consultation.

Draft neighbourhood plan Late 2016-mid 2017 Following community feedback on the strategy, Council will prepare the draft neighbourhood plan, which will be publicly notified for further feedback.

Adoption and gazettal Late 2017 Once approved by the Queensland Government, the draft neighbourhood plan will be adopted and form part of Brisbane City Plan 2014.

How to have your sayNeighbourhood planning involves Council and the community working together. There will be a number of opportunities for you to have your say during the neighbourhood planning process. Currently, Council is encouraging the community to attend an information session, complete the online survey and nominate for the Community Planning Team (CPT).

Online survey Visit www.brisbane.qld.gov.au to complete the online survey and share your ideas for the future of the area. The survey is open until 5pm, Wednesday 30 March 2016.

Nominate for the Community Planning Team The Community Planning Team will work with Council to provide local knowledge and input into the plan. If you live, work or own property in the Coorparoo and Districts area, you can nominate to join the team at www.brisbane.qld.gov.au. Nominations close at 5pm, Friday 6 November 2015.

Talk to a Planner session and information kiosks If you would like to discuss the neighbourhood plan, Council is holding one-on-one Talk to a Planner sessions at Easts Leagues Club, Main Avenue, Coorparoo on Wednesday 4 November 2015 between 2-4pm and 5-7pm.

Council will also be holding information kiosks in the area where you can ask questions about the neighbourhood plan. Visit www.brisbane.qld.gov.au for more details.
