Evesham Bowling Club caters for bowlers of all ages and abilities, for both social or competitive players. The club is situated on the beautiful banks of the River Avon.
Due to continuous flooding, it was decided to build a new clubhouse that would be raised above the ground level, enough to counteract any further possibilities of flooding.
The building now homes a function room, bar, kitchen, and toilet facilities, for the members and visitors.
Our client wanted the whole project completed by local trade and searched for a local lift company and discovered our website online.
They were looking for an accessibility solution for their new building and were interested in a vertical platform lift.

iKONIC attended an onsite assessment to provide a consultation with the client which quickly bought to light that a vertical platform lift, was not really required, and would be at risk of flooding also, our specialist reviewed the area which offered a challenge of a ground floor corner landing with restricted space.
The equipment would also have to be robust and weatherproof. Our engineers also faced the challenge of
installing on the day of the Country bowls match being played. We wanted to provide our clients a sustainable easy to maintain long-term solution to meet their requirements.

After an onsite assessment, our specialist advised the client of an alternative solution that would meet their requirements and be a lot more cost-effective for the club. Instead of providing a vertical platform lift, such as the iKONIC Classic, we offered the iKONIC Hiro 350 Inclined Lift which provides the accessibility solution required.
This would not be at risk of flooding as could be parked discretely at the top of the stairs in such seasons where this may occur.
The Hiro 350 is robust and weatherproof ideal for outdoor use, we also fitted a seat so it could be used for low mobility users and not just wheelchair use.
Due to the restricted area at the bottom of the stairs, we were not able to have the standard through the entrance, our team configured the unit to have side access. This meant the restriction of the corner position no longer obstructed wheelchair access and entry was possible from the front.

We installed the unit with minimal disruption to the premises and our engineers were very flexible in their approach due to the county bowls match being played and halted work as and when required throughout the day.
Our consultant provided the correct solution for them, assessing all factors and saved the club money, whilst providing a solution to their requirements.
The newly built club house is now safe from flooding and allows accessibility access for all to use the new facilities. This means the bowling club is now complainant with the latest equality act.
The project was completed on time and budget. Helping the local organisation achieve their goal meant a lot to iKONIC Lifts, and we have recently sponsored the bowling club. The Hiro 350 meets EN81-40 and provides a sustainable easy to maintain and use public access solution.
