The security and access of buildings can be a very

complex combination of requirements, some of which

can often seem to be contradictory. Our expertise at

Laidlaw is to work with the client to determine how the

building should operate, allowing free access where it is

required for convenience and restricting access to other

areas or at certain times.

By combining the products at our disposal we are able

to build up a system which not only establishes how

access into and within the building is set up, but just as

importantly, we determine how that system is maintained

and managed.

The importance of the System

Establishing the right system is crucial if the client is to maintain security at all

times. The ability to manage security cards, tokens or keys and to quickly and

efficiently re-establish security in the event of them being lost or stolen is a vital

factor in the suitability of the solution.

The security or access system can also be incorporated into the wider aspects

of the building management system which could include energy efficiency

systems in a hotel or library; sports membership or catering facilities in a

University for example, where an individual’s access card can be used for

additional functions.

Sliding Door Operators

Our sliding door operators are tremendously versatile and are suitable for

single or double doors manufactured from a variety of materials. The units are

available with an overall height from just 7cm and are designed for internal or

external applications.

The sliding door operators have been developed as fully modular systems with

all aluminium finish. With advanced technology and innovation this means that

the drive units can be concealed in any façade as they sit on one profile, not

two. The reduction in overall size also provides considerable economical and

ecological advantages.

Swing Door Operator

Our state of the art units are suitable for single or double

door applications that need a rugged flexible automatic

door operator.

It may sound simple, but it requires highly sophisticated

technology to automate swing doors. Our swing door

systems make sure that everything runs smoothly, day

after day from second to second; as a result the units

easily cope with the frequently tough duties of everyday

use.

It is likely, even on the most advanced buildings, that a large proportion of

the doors will require some form of mechanical security solution. As part of

our integrated approach to managing the access and security of a building

we have a wide range of locks and cylinders available. Cylinder locks

provide a flexible means of securing internal and external doors, enabling

quick and easy replacement and with extensive masterkeying capabilities

which can be built into the overall Access Solution.

In addition to their primary use in conjunction with mortice locks they can

be incorporated into automatic door security and can also be used as

mechanical override for digital access control in some cases.

Cylinder Range

The cylinders within the Laidlaw range offer a broad scope

of security features including systems which are patent

protected and restrict the availability of key blanks. This

prevents unauthorised key duplication, a feature which

allows tighter controls over the management of security

within larger organisations or where staff turnover is high.

We are able to offer systems with up to 15 year guarantees

and with masterkeying capability up to 63,000 keys and

with 1.6 million key differs, we are capable of producing a

masterkey system suitable for virtually any size of project.
