What is an aup? A document of set rulesby the school districtthat explains what youcan and cannot do withdistrict ownedinformation systems including but not limitedto internet access,peripherals, and contentaccessed.Additionally, the AUPoutlines the consequencesfor misuse.

Why Have an AUP For Students?

Teach responsible use of the internet

Provide access to valuable educational sites

Protect students from accessing inappropriate content

Make students aware of proper procedures and consequences if not followed

Why Have an AUP For teachers?Make known that email, voice mail and all other communications using school equipment are not private and can be made public at anytime Protect the employer and employees investments by protecting against piracy and viruses

Limit personal use to enhance productivity

Prevent intentional or accidental access to inappropriate images, information, and sites

Make aware of regulations and consequences

All computers, systems, and network resources are property of FCPS and may not be altered

Installation or download of personal or non-FCPS approved software or programs are prohibited

All personal use of FCPS materials and property should be limited to a minimum Never share your password or account information Passwords for access to FCPS purchased site licenses should not be given out to non-FCPS employees

Consequences for Violation of AUP - TeachersThe principal or program manager may restrict or terminate users access to any or all FCPS network systemsDiscipline measures up to and including legal action, suspension, fines, and termination can be levied for intentional or unintentional violation of the AUP

How to ensure you are following the AUP Dont use district equipment for personal use Prevent posting inappropriate images, messages, and content in social media sites

How to ensure you are following the AUP Refrain from using student and school images and information for non-school related reasonsBe knowledgeable and respectful of all content accessed on the districts equipmentRemember that all information and communications are public and subject to disclosure
