Enterprise mobility is going mainstream. Smartphones and tablets are in more and more pockets, backpacks and briefcases. And many more executives expect to be able to conduct meaningful business wherever they are.

That’s why there’s now a pressing need for dependable, flexible, low-cost solutions that enable information access and business transactions from outside the walls of the organization. The solutions have to work fluidly with all current enterprise software suites. And they must be implemented with little complexity, minimal setup time and no infrastructure requirements.

Together, Accenture and SAP are making it happen. The two companies have agreed to jointly develop and manage the deployment of new enterprise mobility solutions leveraging Sybase® Unwired Platform (SUP) coupled with Accenture Mobility Services’ enterprise mobility offerings.

Accenture and SAP Join Forces to Enrich Enterprise Mobility

A strong alliance in the mobile spaceAccenture and SAP have had a formal strategic relationship for more than 30 years. Accenture is SAP’s and Sybase’s largest integration partner. Together, Accenture and SAP have a very large shared client base who are actively looking to understand how mobile applications can improve their business performance.

The recent announcement at Sapphire® NOW re-enforced both organizations’ commitment to addressing this demand together. Both companies have a strategic focus on mobility and a history of jointly implementing mobile solutions for Fortune 1000 companies and key government agencies. Accenture has been developing mobile applications since the mid-1990s and has devel-oped more than 250 applications across a range of industries and application scenarios. Accenture brings longtime mobility experience and compre-hensive offerings, from ready-to-deploy apps to managed mobility and consulting services.

Looking specifically at SUP, which is at the heart of the joint offerings, the largest SUP deployment to date was managed by Accenture. Accenture is the only systems integrator with more than 150 consultants who have built applications on SUP. That practice is expected to top 650 within 24 months.

The new dealAt SAPPHIRE® NOW in May, Accenture and SAP announced a deal to build differentiated solutions that draw on the breadth and depth of mobility capabilities that the companies have developed by working together since 2000. Their pre-packaged solutions already can provide the market with ideas on how to reap the value of enterprise mobility. The strategic relationship also calls for the companies to develop a structured “go-to-market” model aimed at promoting collaboration between their sales teams. Development efforts will initially focus on three sectors—oil and gas, utilities and consumer products, with plans to expand into other industries.

Solutions already available include:

• Mobility Consulting—Mobile Strategy and Planning: Delivers an actionable plan and roadmap that are unique to each client, leveraging mobile technology to help boost productivity, cut costs and increase revenues.

• Mobility Software Services—Applications: Combines innovative commercial and custom applications and SUP to enable organizations to deploy secure and easy-to-manage mobile functionality.

• Mobility Business Integration Services— Workforce Management: Helps companies transform their field forces by bringing technician-focused tools to the field and by reengineering frontline office prac-tices to increase productivity, improve customer service, create new revenue streams through service, and more.

• Mobility Managed Services—Enterprise Application Catalog: Provides customers with a company-specific application catalog, device security and mobile device management capabilities—remotely, over the air as a hosted service.

• SUP Managed Service: Helps customers quickly pilot and deploy applications in a managed service SUP infrastructure run by Accenture.

New deal to bring new innovative collaboration A crucial component of the new strategic relationship is its emphasis on innovation. Accenture and SAP intend to co-develop new enterprise mobility solutions.

The Accenture Innovation Centers for SAP will provide vital momentum for these efforts. The Centers are where technology and business meet: They comprise a fully integrated SAP technology platform that drives capabilities in enterprise mobility, in-memory analytics, business intelligence, and much more. Accenture and SAP specialists work side by side in the Centers to help clients visualize how mobility can help their specific industry and then prototype client-specific applications.

The Innovation Centers for SAP are designed and equipped to address a wide range of challenges that organizations face as they seek to gain deeper insights from data, improve decision-making processes, and embrace the power of in-memory technology and mobility in delivering information anytime, anywhere.

A visit is an immersive experience: Visitors may be engaged in strategic brainstorming sessions, technology demonstrations and “day-in-the-life” scenarios demonstrating mobility solu-tions at work in their organizations.
