Tote bag, Table Placemats, Case for a quilt (made with the larger motifs of course), Floor mat (painted on canvas as a floor mat), I love your patterns!"

Lorraine Boissivain Manitoba

I'd use your accent pattern for a boarder on a large quilt, possibly one useing your other patterns and ? blocks to make a full sized quilt

AUDREY Scottsdale AZ a set of coasters

Charlette Rockford Illinois

What I did... made the wall hanger and then I just cut out certain sections of it and made a queen size quilt. I did a small sticth around each area of the design like applique because of washing the quilt at some time so it wouldn't fall apart and I got so many remarks from people and got offered an amount of money for it, but, I didn't sell it because I really like it so much. It was a lot of work but the finish item is wonderful to me.

QUILT IDEA: Alternate Accent Blocks with log cabin blocks. Make them same size as Accent Blocks. Traditionally you put red in the center of log cabin blocks.

Elaine Coral Springs FL

Right now I am making placemats and a table runner with the bear pattern.

Sue Harlowton Montana

I can see the 'Accent' Patterns as place mats and window valances, in a western or log cabin setting.

Janaway Onaway MI

I shared the original bear pillow accent with my small quilting group & everyone enjoyed it & learning the technique. I purchased a number of your patterns & am tossing around the idea of shrinking portions of them to make smaller blocks to use in 'theme' quilts.

Linda Delta Utah

I would use the 7 accent patterns to make an outdoor quilt by putting each pattern on the appropriate material with fusing paper behind, cut it out and alternate the possitive and negatives of the pattern to make 14 blocks of the quilt. I would put sashing between the blocks and use say 2X6 inch pieces of the block material as the border. I would also take one of my favorite patterns, cut it out of a favorite material and put the negative on the back of a shirt and part of the positive on the front or do the same with a nice canvas bag. Good Luck!!

Rebecca Orlando Florida

I have used the patterns to make embellishments on tote bags(that I made, or you can use a pre-bought tote) as well as changed the size of the pattern and used them on sweatshirts. The process is the same the only difference is that you can show them off no matter where you go....

Cheryl mansfield ohio

I think if they were themed they could be used as 4 corners of a larger quilt possibly with a wall size one as the center of the quilt. Or several of them turned into a block set with another block with no picture and turned into a lap size quilt.

Rose Townsend MT

I will be using the bear accent as a label on the Majestic Challenge Elk that I have just completed.

I am planning on making a set of four placemats with the accent patterns."

My husband is very much into bears and wolves, particularly. My thought was to use the accents to do a sort of colage wall hanging for his office using mostly the facesheads on the accents. a floorcloth with the bear pattern interwoven in the fabric would be neat!!"

Kathleen Weiser Idaho

I think these or even the fish would be great on cabin curtains. There could be a large image centered on contrasting fabric and then use the image fabric as a border. Could be plain strips or fussy cut images to match.

Barbara Rio Vista Ca

You can put several together to make a table runner. Use one along adding a boarders to make a placemate.

nadara Laurel Montana

I am just completing the final touches to a 'dragon' wallhanging I am making for my grandson. This fanciful dragon is a silouette cut from an interesting patterned maroon cotton fabric that has a striking resemblance to aligator skin. The 'wings' are cut from a batique pattern of yellows/reds/oranges. This has all been quilted to a black leatherette patterned backing w/ 1-1/2' border of the batique (dragon's wings) and then a 1/2' border of the 'dragon skin' fabric w/ a solid black binding going around the entire wall hanging. The quilted pattern I used was a simple circlet of the dragon's form and the bottom corners were quilted in a spade shape, top corners in a clubs shape with all four sides bordered in a double chained pattern. The back has a sleeve to run a 1/2' dowal through. I quilted it all together using batting and a magenta colored cotton backing.

Laura Thompson Falls Montana

Curtains look wonderful using the pattern 'Danger in the High Country'. Eliminate the mountains and only use the pack string by placing it on the hem of your curtains. Take some of the trees and place them on each end of the pack string. Repeat this design along the edge of your curtain filling in areas with trees to even out the design suiting the size of your curtains. You can also use the patterns 'Solitude', 'Majestic Challenge' and 'Moose Meadows'. They all look wonderful. I also use these designs on the sleeves of sweatshirt jackets. Choose your design or portion of a design. If it fits the sleeve use it! Secure with decorative thread to add some jazz. There are many more thoughts on how to use these designs. Any garments...vests bib overalls skirt hems mens shirts pockets and jackets just to mention a few. Try out a purse....looks wonderful and you get alot of nice comments."

vacation.

Depending on the size of the accent piece........I prefer making quilts, useable quilts. Due to the nature of these designs, I'd use a shear, maybe tulle, over the design to make it more durable then quilt through all the layers. Using the design as a center motif with pieced blocks around it or if they are small enough, using more then one of the accent blocks to make up a quilt. Probably staggered layout with simple or solid block between so they don't detract from the cut design.

Lana Evanston WY

oh how much fun this is and just think of all the ideas... I was thinking of putting this accent on the bottom of curtains in my guest bedroom. you know like the bear, one on each panel facing each other. I live in a log cabin and thought how fun that would be to make a bed quilt with matching curtains and pillows... thanks Mary for all your great ideas and quilts... may God bless you in your business.. Thanks Lana

Cindy Chino Valley AZ

I am going to do Thread Painting on my next one, you can do this after you have all the fused pieces done. I watched a video on Sharon Schambers web site free video's, and can't wait to try it on one of yours.

Mary Rantoul Illinois

How about putting your accent pattern on a lampshade where the light shows through. I would sure show off your beautiful patterns.

Lois Seward AK

I've made placemats. Also, curtains with accent pattern as the center attraction; table runner; and accent on pillowcase.

Nila Bismarck North Dakota

I'd use this design on a tote that I would use for camping trips. I love bears, so it would be the perfect accessory for my hiking boots. :)

Susan Olathe Colorado I think these would be great on padded picture albums.

Sandy Visalia California

We all could use a bit of varitey in our lives I should think... 1.Clothes pin holder 2. Hunters memory book cover 3.Shrink pattern and make a closet freshner out of it by putting in a few cedar chips and sewing it closed with a little hanger on top 4.An outside flag for the season of hunting or what ever the season for which ever pattern ya use. 5. Make a window shade out of it by enlarging it."

Verda Kenai AK

I still like the idea of taking them and framing them for pictures and perhaps above the quilt that showcases the bigger blocks

Nolene Bayard Nebraska

front of a sweatshirt, use it on a curtain valance, the middle of a lap throw

judy gaylord mi

Living in an area surrounded by wildlife, in the woods or on the lake, often calls for more rustic decor. Enlarge, or reduce the pattern somewhat and instead of accent pillow, make a slipcover for the back cushions of a loveseat, sofa, or rattan porch furniture. You could make each a different design, or all the same if on a sofa. Would be very cute on a sunporch!

Chris Mukwonago Wisconsin

Display in a wooden pictue frame---barn wood or weathered cedar looks the best.

Kristy Wesley AR

I have 2 ideas that my husband and I are going to do in our new log home we are building. I was the furniture to look 'rustic'. I want my husband to use your patterns to create the backs on my barstools. This can be done in wood or metal but the seat is made of leather and the back has one of your patterns cut or carved into it. The other idea I have is to use your patterns to create cool lamp shades on my table lamps and carve the patterns on the front of the recessed lighting boxes so it will illuminate through the room when the lights are on.

Mary Mooresville NC

Applique the willowbendcreations pattern onto the background by hand using a real pretty thread and the button hole stitch. Cut a 1' border of a solid complimentary color to the willowbendcreations pattern. Iron 1' strip with wrong sides together to make a 1/2' strip. Sew this strip around the background fabric with the folded edge facing the willowbendcrations pattern. Then add a 3 or 4' border to the appliqued piece. Quilt only in the background areas. A small stipple would look real good as would cross hatching. Bind the wall hanging with the same fabric used for the 1/2' inner border. Add hanging sleeve if desired.

cheryl ilion New York

i would make beautiful Tote Bags/Hand Bags out of these Accent patterns.I would also make Table Runners,Place Mats,I think I'll make a Christmas Tree Skirt with the accent patterns!!!!!

Thelma Fruita Colorado They work well on the back of jackets and vests. Make quilt blocks.

Carlene Powell OH

Placemats, or part of a table runner. I think that this would be really cool for a rustic cabin. Also, it could be used to make a dresser cover, or end table covers.

Janet Longmont CO

The smaller size of the accent pieces would make a dynamite valance for a window in a mountain cabin or a city family room! You could use one pattern or several related ones, or use a single pattern and flip the design for a variety of looks. (i.e. half the bears looking left, the other half looking right)

BJ Wallingford CT.

My idea is to use this accent pattern for the center of a lap quilt and then find material with bears or whatever the pattern is for your borders, I just need to find time to do it!!!!!!!

Jean Dalton Ga.

How about a vest with maybe a wrap-a-round pattern. The backs of the animals on the back of the vest and the heads on each side of the front. Or just the entire animal on the back with the babies on the front w/their habitat. Also totes or purses would go over big."

A quilt with the larger bears in the center and 4 patches and accent bears around it. Could be made in any size. Also accent bears could be used on jackets or shirts.

Connie Derry New Hampshire

I also am thinking of making pictures for my wooden calendars as Christmas gifts.(www.twojays.net) to view them. The top holds a 4 X6 picture with a note pad and key hooks. I will pick out different parts of the quilt, scale it down and iron onto cloth covered 4 X 6 cardboard and insert.

Ardelle full-time traveler USA

Since I live in a motorhome I need to think 'small', I love the 8x10s for wall hangings - or to just set on the dash, or on the table, or the dresser, well, you get the picture

Carmen Janesville WI

1) Make a quilt with 1 accent in each corner and a continuum (or another accent) in the center. Remember, you can copy the accent on the window from the back or copy the accent from the front on the table. Then you can have your accent facing in or out! (I have a pattern and cutting instructions if you'd like to use it.) 2) Make a quilt with 4 continuums and use an accent design to fill in large spaces. (I have made a pattern for this also.) 3) 3 or 4 accents are the perfect size for a lap cover. Great size for a beginner! 4) The accent design is awesome on the back of a denimn jacket! (Clothing that opens in the front is easier to work with and apply the accent.)"

Lesley Spokane, Washington

Accent pieces can be used in any decopouge project, including furniture.

Nancy Myrtle Creek Oregon

You could use the accent patterns to make a quilted jacket (the back would be quilted). You could also make a quilted tote bag. You could use it to make blocks for a child's quilt or a throw.

Diana Harlowton Montana Use several to create a table runner and then matching placemats

Joyce Lithia Springs GA

This might not get in the book but my idea is to quilt your piece first I wish I had.

Bonnie Westminster Colorado

an accent pattern can be used for a table runner, table cloth, wall hanging, christmas tree ornimant or even a quilted apron.

Marilyn Etowah Tennessee

I love to make tote bags and purses. I think your designs would make a wonderful cover for a purse or tote. Your designs uniqueness would make truly one of a kind bags.

Lorraine Rome PA

Clothing for the outdoorsmen! Applique to the back of a jean Jkt or front of a sweatshirt. Either use traditional, but I prefer reverse applique for the clothing. Sorry but have 2 double thickness polar fleece throw. mark design in center of one piece stich in place to second piece cut design from 1 layer of polar fleece and tie the 2 pcs. together as in the no sew blankets."

I still think you could take each one and create what is this with children...you could also incorporate it into a large quilt with smaller blocks surrounding it...the possiblities are endless....I made a floor quilt for the grandbabies to play on..with different animals, objects ect. and their imaginagations took off...making them as gifts also is a possiblities...these would go great in a frame and donated to charities to raise funds for wildlife or human society....

Want to decorate a window without blocking the view? How about a valance with silhouttes of trees and mountains or dolphins, sea turtles, egrets or anything else you love.

Marie Homer City PA Tote bag or messenger bag, soft Brief case, Wall hanging"

Debbie Columbus Michigan

I think that the accent patterns would be great on a room divider, using one or more patterns to form a scene. This could be one large panel or a three panel room divider that would like like a triptych. This could be used to hide your sewing machine from the rest of the room or maybe a messy desk or work area.

Sandi Frackville PA

I have a plain mirror that has a couple flaws in it and i was going to use the free pattern I recieved and cut it from a thin 'cling on' film in black and put it on the mirror. I will need to resize the pattern but it gives me a nice way to recycle the mirror and add a nice element to the bedroom I am redoing.

Linda Salem WV

Quilted wallhanging. Clothing applique. Wood working pattern. Purse and pattern. Combine with moose, smaller bears and trees for quilt. Stencil on walls. Stencil on floors.

Sabra Bastrop Tx Have you ever thought about MOLA type designs?

Sharon Lansing MI

You could use them for appliance covers or sewing machine cover. Or a cover on my oxygen machine.

Sandra Sault Sainte Marie MI

One of the ways to use an accent pattern would be on a tote bag to arry quilt supplies, knitting/crochet supplies, items purchased in a store, beach bag, etc. Also, another idea would be on the front of a sweatshirt, or, if you made a jacket out of a sweatshirt, the accent pattern could be on the back. Why not frame one on canvas and hang it on th wall as a wallhanging?

Mary Cresson Texas

Take a favorite photo of a vacation spot or just a favorite place. Enlarge it and just outline prominent features to cut out in one large shape and fuse to a background. Something real obvious like monuments around DC or something in your own back yard...a favorite tree, etc.

Donna Hawthorne FL

I would use this pattern for the ends of a table runner. I would use this pattern for pillow shams and around the edge of a bedspread so they would match. I would use this pattern on the bottom of a fabric shower curtain for a lodge look."

kathy Glenn CA

Accent patterns are great for 'Green' grocery bags. Bags are an easy sew and so good for us all!"

Andrea Chesterfield VA

I like to make what I call Table Toppers. They are usually 8x10 or 9 x 11. They are a quilted and bound picture, with a fabric holder (about 1 and 1/2 inch) sewn at the top on the back to fit an acrylic photo stand. Actually you could use any size. These fit in lots of small places and make great gifts. I usually make seasonal ones, sets of 4, for specials friends. Andrea

Janet Conroe Texas

After looking at the accent designs more closely, and thinking and visualizing, I think the patters would be ideal to use in machine needle felting...trace and use as templates while felting in other fabric, yarn, etc. into the base fabric used for implementing design into.

Jay Strawberry Plains Tn

OK. Now that I understand better I'll revise my idea. As I enjoy horser and carriage driving, over the river and through the woods, I'd like something along these lines. We do 3 day eventing with a carriage and build hazards to drive around as one cannot jump a vehicle...although we have had one try. That could be a single horse, pair, 4-in-hand, unicorn, tandem or troika. Sure hope something comes of this.

Jolene Summerville Oregon

This is my idea: I was out in the dessert of Northern Nevada and I seen two wild stallions fighting each other for the herd of mares. They were on a rise not too far from where I was, and they were facing each other, both on their hind legs, striking with their front legs, and they were silouetted by the setting sun. It was beautiful, and I always wanted to make a quilt block of that. Thanks, Jolene"

Jan Belding Mi

My grandson loves Thomas the train so I have been collecting Thomas fabric, I have gotten a Thomas quilted panel and used the different blocks of fabric that have the trains on them and did log cabin pattern on each one also quilted them, attached them to the panel, on the back it is fleece go Diago go as that is the other fabric that he wanted. He has it on his bed and he loves it.

MAKE A FABRIC ART APRON: Using machine-washable fabrics throughout, applique the bear-head pattern (or any accent pattern of your choosing) onto an 8x10 rectangle of fabric. Use quilting scraps of complementary fabrics to form a two-inch border around the rectangle, and back the entire piece in a medium-weight cotton. This will become the pocket.Use a pre-purchased BBQ/chef's-style apron or sew your own out of a heavy-weight cotton or linen-like fabric. Center the pocket rectangle so it is positioned just slightly low over the wearer's stomach and stitch securely around three sides leaving the top side open. This creates one large pocket. Alternatively you can then stitch a seam up the center-front of the rectangle thereby creating two smaller side-by-side pockets. Voila! A beautiful unique and useful work of creativity (that makes a wonderful gift too). 2. Shower curtain 3. towlet seat cover 4. towel décor 5. Placemat for table setting 6. Table runner for table 7. Seat pad for kitchen chairs 8. Throw pillows for couch 9. End table mats 10.Coffee table runner 11.Curtain valances for family room 12. Candle mat for a table 13. A warm bear throw quilt 14. Pillow shams for bed 15. Quillow - blanket /a pillow blanket 16. Sleeping bag 17. Fun Country Bag

My 5-year old grandson loves to pretend that he is sleeping in a tent in the woods. He tells me how he is surrounded by bears and lions and antelopes. I am planning on making a padded headboard with a few of the wild animals and lots of trees. He will be thrilled with his own forest all around his head.

I can picture the accent patterns on back of a hunter's shirt or jacket, curtains in a log cabin, somehow incroporate them in covered chair bottoms, on a decorative flag...just a few that comes to mind....

Sharon Sedro Woolley Washington

Tablerunners----bookcovers----computer cases or carriers (this would be a great christmas present}---I think it would look great done in suede on a mans desk under glass top.---it would make a great address book cover for the man in your life--or a photo album cover. Just a few of my ideas

Sherri Belleivue Washington

Well...Since your accet pattern is again a Bear, it could be reduced or left same size and use as the center of a Bears Paw Block, center of a large Star block, surrounded by flying geeses and made into several bocks to border a small wallhanging

Make the block as the center of a wall hanging size crazy quilt, using batik fabrics as the crazy quilt borders. Embellish with buttons from jesssejames buttons used in crafts and scrapbooking. Also embellish with woodies-outdoors materials.

Yvonne Hall Montana

Living near the University of Montana, this would make a wonderful applique for sweatshirts and jackets as the mascot is the Grizzley. I can also see it enlarged and used as a banner to hang in support of the local team.

Jean Alamogordo New Mexico I am planning to use the pattern on the back of a jacket.

Misty Belgrade MT

The accent patterns are great for table runners as well. One that (I do not have a picture) I think would be incredible would be bear paws with the bear accent pattern. Depending on the size of the table you could do an octagon with the bear accent in the middle, or a rectangle with opposing bears (invert the pattern for the opposite end) so they appear to be facing one another and do a bear paw conglomeration in the middle of the runner. You could make a set of panels for curtains; they would likely be a room darkening set and would really enhance the decorative element of a room! I have yet to put these ideas to use in my own home but am excited to get busy so I can send a picture or two!"

Jeannette Lords Valley Pa.

I think this would look great on the back of a denim jacket especially for a guy. Also as a flag or on a back pack.

sew your patterns on suede to make accent pillows for your furniture . Also use to make a flag with your ranches name on it to welcome guests. example ( use the bear willow Bend design for the name Bear run Ranch, established in 2008 ) Or how about a nice wall hanging lap or twin size quilt for your favorite fire men at the local fire fighters station. Better yet make a lap quilt for your favorite service man serving and protecting our Great Country. Give the gift of thanks to an injured serviceman or women. Let them know we care and appreciate what they have sacrificed for us to be free."

LORNA Washburn North Dakota

I used a blue batic fabric for the cut out and pressed it on a white background and framed it with more blue batic and put it in a frame under glass. It is just beautiful. I had it on display at our quilt show and it really drew a lot of interest.

I am still opting for the sides of tote bags, backs of jackets and on vests. These patterns could also be used in metal. Cutting them out with the plasma cutters. They could then be part of a sign or wall decoration, etc.

Lisa Boone IA

Use on the front of a tote bag. Or shrink the pattern and use it for the label on the back of the quilt, use it on a fabric postcard. Applique it on curtains, use it as a 'paper cutting' pattern, use it inside a fabric bowl or for the face of a fabric clock. I can't wait to see what others come up with!"

Joan Grantham Lincolnshire, UK

Reversible Bag. Both sides of the bag consist of the Accent pattern in darker fabric, appliqued onto light coloured background fabric (approx 14' x 12'). Reverse the design for the 2nd side so heads of bears (using bears as an example) are facing in same direction. Curve bottom edge of both side pieces (rounding bottom corners) and echo this on top edge (so top and bottom edges are parallel curves). Use the dark fabric in a long strip (approx 4' wide) to make the base and the ends of the bag (following curves) and continue for bag strap, tapering slightly towards the part of the strap which will sit on your shoulder. Also using dark fabric complete whole bag again and stitch together to make reversible plain/accented bag. Add magnetic fastener or button and loop to fasten, if required.

Deana Zwolle, LA

I would make a pair of throw pillows, using a dark brown flannel bear on a leaf print of fall colors.

I recently finished the BOM on Lewis & Clark..I am putting the blocks into large wall hangings...Needing extra blks now, I am adding your great patterns to put a punch to them. 1 blk is 1/2 deep deep purple as the nite view of a mountain-it has a full moon for in yellow for the rest of the blk... appliqued a coyote-onthe side of the mountain head lifted in nite-song. Another blk depicts the waters of the Pacific, another-the Indian trails. The sashing is a print with animal feet on it...I have added a silhoulete of Lewis & Clark...With you great accent patterns, I can also add a blk using one of them...adds a great punch to the finished look. I had sent an earlier ideal where I was going to use them with my counted cross stitch flower wall hangings.

I think they would make great tote bags, covers for quilt journals, they would make great wall hangings, they would look great in a quilt, combined with other block patterns(like a log cabin quilt). They would make great aprons, could use one for that(the front of a apron) , that would make a nice gift for the man who likes too bbq. I think it would look nice, if you took a piece of hand dyed wool, some of the hand dyed wools have some great colors in it, that would make a nice wall hanging, i love to do wool applique, and you can use steam a seam with the wool, it works good. Well heres just a few ideas.

I would put the applique block into a picture frame to accent the western look livingroom.

Laura Phoenix Arizona

Living in Phoenix, southwestern decor ideas are always flying through my head. I have been playing with the idea of making pillows with strings of red peppers diagonally across, over a sand or terra cotta background, with perhaps a few more in the corners. I thought it would look good with a rope-like braid around the edges.

Sometimes I have found that an accent fabric will work great in a pattern you would not think it could posssibly be used. such as the Dresden Plate. In the Dresden Plate you are working with hues, more than you are print. I Love to use an accent print for table runners and center pieces adding a small border or just a binding. I have used them many for a Kids twin size quilt.Plenty of bright collored accent patterns and using one or many borders."

Take 'the Eight Seconds' and use it as a shilouet of lighter tan fabric. In the background use a western print with cowboys, covered wagons, indians and buffaloes. then take western fabric, I used cowgirls, and a stripped material that went with cowgirls fabric and made a beautiful quilt.

My idea is to make multiples of the same pattern (color & fabric )and stack them up straight stich across the stack in two inch rows the length of the design. And cut threw all layers but last few. Then sew outer edge about two inches in and around whole project.Wash and dry , it may take extra washings depending on fabric used. But the end result is a chenelle type throw rug.

Beverly Staples MN

Could the pattern be used on a window blind. I think it would be interesting to see the light come through the cut out part.

Cindy Walton New York

My first idea was to make the patterns on multiple sizes of fabric, put plain fabric blocks with them to make a row the same size, add sashing in between then sew the rows together and make a quilt or throw for the couch. 2. Use the pattern with thread instead of fabric. Using removable fusing (or freezer paper) adhere the pattern to your sandwiched quilt or garment ready for quilting. Then using a decorative thread, outline the design stitching around all elements. When you remove the pattern, you will have the design subtly shown in thread and will have added a very interesting quilting element to you quilt or garment.

Placemats and table runners album covers for the hunter in the family or the nature lover center medalion for a quilt surrounded by log cabin blocks window toppers for den, bedroom or office. (valances) seat back covers for your favorite guys pick up truck, back accent on a jacket or coat 2. Purse or tote bag using just the trees for back of bag. 3. Would look nice as large pockets on jacket front (square pockets that start at the bottom edge of the jacket and the accents would have to be reversed). Pockets could easily be 'added' to a purchased plain jacket (I'm thinking a hip-length jacket). 4. Horizontal strippy quilt with bears 'nose to nose' alternated with other solid or accent strips of fabric in same width. 5. Centrepiece for table with four bear motifs either one on each side or if I was making it for myself I would put the bears with their noses 'in' toward the centre to make a sort of kaleidoscope effect. 6. Speaking of kaleidoscope a smaller motif like this one would make a great kaleidoscope or 'snowflake' effect like we used to do with paper-folded 'dolls' when we were kids. Larger motifs would be like a Hawaiian quilt. Wait a minute !! What a great idea!! Could you do one with the white mountain goats?? I'd LOVE to do a Hawaiian style quilt with the white mountain goat as a motif. 7. End motifs on a table runner eg. Two bears at each end could be pointing toward each other on an angle to make a tablerunner with a 'pointed end'. If the accent block allowed for it the shape of the bottom part of the accent could make for an interesting edge (wavy like the rock or hill the animal is standing on - not sure if this describes what I'm thinking - sorry). 7. Corner blocks in a large quilt made of a similar larger 'scene'. 8. A kid's 'soft' book to teach them about animals - name of animal could be a silhouette cut-out as well."

I think the accent patterns would make great placemats. You could make them with the trees, all woodsy, and also put in different animals, bears, horses or whatever the theme would be, etc. Also a table topper would be great using it in the center and then putting patchwork around it. Also it'd be great on the back of a jean shirt. I was thinkin' of using the accent patterns for gift bags. You could trace part of the pattern on paper, cut it out, and adhere it to simple bags with handles or brown wrapping paper for a really custom wrap job! They would be great for patterns for wood also, silhouettes for a shelf. Also I can think of some great pages for scrapbooks using the accent patterns for backgrounds for pictures. I think the trees and bucking horse would help to make the perfect scrapbook page for a little ranch dude!

1. Place your cut-out design in the center of a stone-washed denim jacket back (or vest.) Adhere the bear & tree cut-out directly to the denim with Steam-a-Seam (or other adhesive as WonderUnder.) Place two low-loft batting squares cut the size of original frame behind cut-out. Sew outline of bear/tree design using straight stitch or very narrow zigzag. Trim away only one layer of batting just outside this stitching. Place a single layer of backing fabric cut the size of the original frame plus about 1/2' on each side over the remaining batting square on under side. You may wish to clean-finish edges with an overlock or zigzag. Using a decorative stitch or twin needle straight stitch, sew the frame. (If you wish to use piping, bias tape or attach cord to create the frame you may.) Now stitch from the top - redo the outline and add accenting features of bear, tree, etc. with straight stiches (or free-motion stitches.) Use a metallic thread or an accent color -remembering less is often more in trupunto work - you want to accent features.) Outside the design, but inside the frame, use stippling, echoing, or other quilting stitches to 'flatten' the background. On the inside if you did not clean-finsh edges of the backing, you may wish to trim-up the backing & batting using pinking shears. You will have a wearable piece of art.

Redesign the the bronc rider accent pattern by minimizing it, elongating it by adding some trees and fence line, and adjusting the position of the rider so it fits in the back, upper yoke of a western shirt. It might be fun to add it to the two front yokes as well. Either one requires some applique sewing for durability.

I think it would be neat to make a handbag using an accent pattern, using the accent pattern on the front of the handbag and a coordinating fabric for the back, have a theme accent pattern and a theme fabric. Or make a wallhanging, using the accent pattern as the focal for it, and adding fabrics that coordinate. Like the bear pattern above, add cabin themed prints along with coordinating solids, you could surround it with small bear paw quilt blocks, or simply add borders around it!

Lots of ideas come to mind with a smaller 'accent' pattern. I absolutely love jumpers with a little northwoodsy accent - bears, trees, or even a hummingbird or flower would be cute! What about a sweatshirt with an added touch of cowboy country. OR, you could use an accent pattern on the side of a totebag or purse - that would be awesome to take with me to various quilting classes and or seminars. How about combining a couple of accent patterns together to use in a window treatment - like a small valance over a kitchen window, or even a bedroom window.

I think they would be great for the back of jackets. If they could me made small the postcad thing is real big right now and maybe they could be called quiltlets. (just an idea) I have used small quilts (quiltlets) for book covers, (they are really great for the larger scrap books) and I wonder if they could be made to go around a box. You know make the pattern up the same size as if the box were taken appart and laying flat then make several reduced size panels one for each side of the box. use that VERY thi bat, quilt and apply to the box whipstitching the sides top and bottom. I am now on the 'hunt' for suitable wildlife fabric that will go around the bear (by the way.....the wallpaper right behind this entry form would be excellent). After my strips will go bearpaw blocks more strips around these blocks then a strip of flying geese or pine trees....just not too sure on that yet. Your patterns are terrific for the men in my life and young boys would love them too. I like to purchase the floor pillows from JoAnns already completed. Then take fabric for Marys patterns and do your applique on a large block and chose a border to go around it and make a backing, You can make it with a zipper so you have a pillow case so to speak for the floor pillow. I have just did hidden stitches on the bottom edge so I can remove it and wash it if necessary. I have done thread painting for accent. I guarantue you that this floor pillow will make the bed or the couch but, will probably never be used on the floor. If by chance your cover don't fit as snug as you want it just insert pieces of batting where needed. You can pull it back out if the thing needs to be washed. 1. Use the accent patterns to make placemats by using the accent pattern in the middle, and adding borders of coordinating fabric to the top and sides to get the size you want. 2. Make a table runner using the pattern in the middle or repeated down the length of the runner or just at each end of the runner. 3. Use the accent patterns to make window valances. Center the pattern in the middle of the valance or repeat the pattern as needed. Patterns can be flipped to face the way you want. Patterns could be used at the bottom of panel curtains too. 4. Make hot pads by using extra layers of batting. If a smaller pad is desired the pattern could be reduced on a copy machine. 5. Adjust the size of the accent patterns by enlarging or reducing on a copy machine. 6. What about using an accent pattern for the bib of an apron? Add the pattern to a ready-made apron or make it all yourself.
