Off the beaten path...

The new mountain bike trail at East Athens Community Park is now open. The trail, built by Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association volunteers, is 1.7 miles in length and includes two loops along with a small connecting path.

More than 1,000 volunteer hours went into developing the trail. There are plans to extend the trail around the northwest corner of the park to total about four miles.

The trail is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until sunset and is located near the Trail Creek entrance in the park.
