News and Announcement Annual General Meeting, 22nd Annual Fellowship Conferment Ceremony and 2015 David Todd Oration Annual General Meeting The Academy held its Annual General meeting on 18 December 2015 at Pao Yue Kong Auditorium. During the meeting, the report of the Council, the Honorary Treasurer's Report, the audited accounts, the appointment of the auditors and the admission of new Fellows were endorsed. Pursuant to the HKAM Ordinance, an election was conducted for five Council Members. Five eligible nominations were received and the candidates were elected ipso facto. Annual General Meeting

2015 David Todd Oration
David Todd Oration was inaugurated in 1995 to honour our Founding Presidentof the Academy, Professor Sir David Todd, in recognition of his profoundContributions to the Academy. The Academy was privileged to have ProfessorJoseph Sung, Vice Chancellor and President of the Chinese University of Hong
Kong, delivered the Oration this year. The Oration was entitled "What are whatwe eat: The microbiota / biofilm and gastro‐intestinal diseases".

NHFPC delegation visits the Academy, 18 December 2015
A National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) delegation led byMr. Qin Huaijin, Director General of Department of Health Science, Technologyand Education visited the Academy on 18 December 2015 and met with ourOfficers and College representatives, following signing of an extended MOU onthe "Standardisation of General / Specialist Medical Training" in late October2015. Mr. Qin confirmed at the meeting that the Department of HealthScience, Technology and Education will be the one responsible for thecollaboration work with the Academy and further work meetings will bearranged.
HKAM Golf Tournament 2015, 9 December 2015
The HKAM Golf Tournament 2015 was successfully held on 9 December 2015at Kau Sai Chau Jockey Club Public Golf Club, Hong Kong. A total 34 Academyfellows, alumni of HKU and CUHK participated. The Academy wishes to thankMr Richard Yuen, Permanent Secretary for Food and Health (Health) for joiningthe tournament; Fellow of Hong Kong College of Obstetricians andGynaecologists Dr Tung Hiu Fong won the HKAM President's Cup ‐ the first ladyFellow to win this cup. President, Vice‐President (General Affairs) and Vice‐President (Education andExaminations) attended the Council Dinner upon an invitation of the HKMA.During the dinner, Council Members of HKMA and the Academy'srepresentatives shared views on the further development of primary care inHong Kong. The Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Mr. Stephen Wongalso joined and discussed various matters concerning patients' privacy.

President officiated the Opening Ceremony ofthe Capacity Conference 2015 organised by theHong Kong Psychogeriatric Association. Hedelivered a presentation on the topic of "TheChallenge of ageing population on medicaltraining and services in Hong Kong".

Fellows maydownload the App by scanning the respective QR code below (or search"icmecpd" from App Store/Google Play) and install it in their smartphone
with operating system in iOS (7.1 or above) or Android (3.0 or above).

Hong Kong Medical Journal launches a re‐styled website (www.hkmj.org) which offers
visitors a more user‐friendly experience! The new layout is optimised for any screen sizesuch as desktop, tablet or smartphone.
The HKMJ has recently received its first official impact factor in the 2014 edition of theJournal Citation Reports in the ISI Web of Knowledge published by Thomson Reuters. The2014 impact factor for the HKMJ is 0.872.

Pepper (oleoresin capsicum) spray is aneffective riot‐control agent and does not causelife‐threatening clinical effects in the majorityof exposed individuals.
Case Report Churg‐Strauss syndrome from an orthopaedicperspective
A case of Churg‐Strauss syndrome presentingwith symptoms of bilateral lower limbweakness and numbness was admitted to anorthopaedic ward for management and a finaldiagnosis was reached following sural nervebiopsy.

Dissemination reports are concise informative reports ofhealth‐related research supported by funds administered bythe Food and Health Bureau, for example the Health andHealth Services Research Fund (which was consolidated intothe Health and Medical Research Fund in December 2011). Inthis edition, ten dissemination reports of projects related tohealth economics, cardiovascular diseases, mental health,
and paediatrics are presented. In particular, three projectsare highlighted due to their potentially significant findings,impact on healthcare delivery and practice, and/orcontribution to health policy formulation in Hong Kong.
