POTENTIAL IS POWERAm I a leader? At some time or another we are all leaders. We all influence others. Whether becoming involved in student government, volunteering as a peer helper, joining 4-H or scouting, having a new family as a teenage parent, or stepping up to lead music in a church youth group, you are in a leadership role.

The Academy for Progress’s Youth track is an innovative leadership program that will strengthen one of our region’s greatest assets: you, our youth. We believe that you have a wealth of potential. We can provide you the necessary tools to make good decisions and help you develop the needed leadership skills to be successful. Focus is placed on basic communication skills, theory of behavior, leadership as an action, personal development and growth, problem solving, conceptual skills, and access to people, places, and businesses. These skills are developed through hands-on common-sense applications and activities for immediate and everyday use. You can successfully lead. We can help.

UNLOCk YOUR HIDDEN POTENTIALThe Academy for Progress’s Professional track focuses on business-oriented community-minded individuals. Professional encompasses both those in typical professional careers (e.g., accountants, engineers, chemists, teachers, medical service providers) and those who take a professional approach to their roles (e.g., production group leader, truck driver, lead technician).

Traditionally leadership skills are honed in college courses or picked up on-the-fly when thrown into a leadership role on-the-job. The Academy for Progress operates on the premise that leadership training and development is an integral part of life long learning. Like many professionals, we recognize the need for strong, progressive, innovative individuals in leadership roles in organizations that truly want success. The Professional track provides communication skills, theory of behavior, leadership as action, personal development, and conceptual skills. These skills are developed through hands-on common-sense applications and activities for immediate and every-day use. You can fine tune your leadership skills. We can help.

UNLEASH YOUR POWER TO SERvE Whether you are involved in Government (e.g., elected or appointed official, staff, member of the local school board) or a not-for-profit Non-Government Organization (e.g., Director or support staff for a Non-Profit organization, t-ball coach, Non-profit board member, PTO member, church council) you influence others through serving. You lead.

The two branches within the Academy for Progress’s Civic track provide: Mastering basic communication to set the stage for proactive use of best practices to deal with challenges; understanding the principals of economic development to set the foundation for informed decision making; practical information about grants and grant writing; and, learning “lean” underscores eliminating waste that is not limited to private business.
