ACCREDITATION: Coordinated the comprehensive preparation and

submission of seventeen (17) accreditation documents for eight (8) college

programs/curricula (including five (5) first time curricula submissions) to

the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ), Jamaica.

Prepared college accreditation documents for the Adventist Accrediting

Association (AAA), Florida, USA.

CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT:

Coordinated the revision, updating and overhauling of the curricula of the

College of Business and Hospitality Management. The credit load of most

programs was reduced, new market-relevant courses introduced and some

courses retired.

Chaired committee for the development of BSc. degree in Resort and Spa

Management (joint degree to be offered by the College of Business and

Hospitality Management and the government operated National Training

Agency- College of Beauty Services. Now in the university’s approval

process.

Chaired, committee on development of curriculum for Master’s degree in

Christian Psychology. First draft completed and submitted to University

President in February 20, 2014.

Coordinated Curriculum Development SIG for Mind of Christ Conference

(per university President). Conference held Feb. 19-21, 2013.

Developed new program - DBA in Economics and Entrepreneurship

(2009-2010) for College of Business and Hospitality Management,

Northern Caribbean University. Approved by Jamaica Union in January

2014 and presented to the Adventist Accrediting Association (AAA),

Inter-American Division, Florida and General Conference of SDA for

final approval, 2015.

Conducted curriculum development workshops for improving the design

and content of course outlines especially as it relates to domain inclusive

objectives/learning outcomes, cognitive and affective taxonomies,

assessment types and rubrics, work plan and online component (2008,

2009, 2010, 2012).

RESEARCH: Initiated and coordinated the research agenda of the College

(2008-2014).

Conducted research seminars and work sessions for Faculty on research

proposal writing, data collection, data analysis and research writing. This

has resulted in the production of over 25 research papers and presentations

and 10 publications (2009-2014).

Engaged in annual local and overseas scholarly presentations

Prepared Master’s thesis manual on styling and formatting for MBA

students which improved the APA style of writing as well as the focus and

coherency of research projects. The manual is entitled: The Bare

Essentials of Writing Your Graduate Thesis/Dissertation, Dikaioma

Publishers, Berrien Springs, Michigan.

Reviewer and final signatory of all research projects/theses for College of

Business and Hospitality Management.

INSTRUCTIONAL INNOVATION & DEVELOPMENT:

Assessed and reorganized the academic advisement process for the

College of Business and Hospitality Management.

Introduced the online/blended modality for the Masters of Business

Administration program. At least four (4) courses are now using this

modality.

Initiated and planned the upgrading of the course offering Seminar in

Professional Trends and Issues to the format of an annual Current Trends

and Issues Conference. This seminar was offered as an individual course

to undergraduate and MBA majors separately on each of the four (4)

campuses. This conference is now offered to all undergraduate seniors and

MBA students simultaneously across all majors in the College of Business

and Hospitality Management (April 2009-present) on main campus in

Mandeville.

Initiated and implemented the use of the Webinar (virtual) format on

campus for the delivery of the fifth and sixth annual Current Trends and

Issues Conference in Business and Hospitality Management, Spring 2013

& Spring 2014.

Supervised the reintroduction of the monthly public lectures through the

W.D. Carter Lecture Series (2008-present) via the W.D. Carter Centre.

Since 2008, three (3) lectures are conducted each semester of each

academic year. Presenters are recruited from academic and corporate

entities. These lectures inform students and other publics of current

developments in the fields of business and hospitality management.

Arranged online training in instructional delivery with University

Information Systems (UNISS) for undergraduate and graduate Faculty

Conducted a workshop on service learning and introduced it into the

curriculum of the College of Business and Hospitality Management’s

undergraduate program, in keeping with the university’s mandate

(September, 2008).

strategies (Feb., 2010).

BUSINESS NETWORKING: Coordinated efforts leading to the signing

of three (3) Memoranda of Understanding. One, between the Morris

Entrepreneurship Centre, NCU and the Jamaica Business Development

Corporation [JBDC] (April, 2009); between the College of Business and

Hospitality Management, NCU and the Jamaica Stock Exchange [JSE]

(October, 2010) and H.E.A.R.T/National Training Agency and

CBHM/NCU (2012). Negotiations started for the development of a

graduate program in business, technical and vocational education with

H.E.A.R.T/NTA and CBHM (in process).

Building a Business Advisory Board for the College to inform on market

needs and maintain market relevance (in process).

NEW PROGRAM INNOVATION: Introduced the concept of Chaplaincy

into the college for meeting students’ life needs that were related to but

beyond academics. Since academic year 2009-2010, CBHM has had two

(2) gender-specific functioning Chaplains. In 2013, a third Chaplain was

added for the Evening Division.

Introduced the Professional Dispositions Seminar Series, 2009- present.

This is a two day event with speakers drawn from the business arena and

academia who interact with students about life skills for the work world.

This initiative has been an outgrowth of my Ph. D dissertation on

professional dispositions in higher education. Faculty and students’

feedback have been overwhelmingly positive.

Initiated and organized a monthly Speak Out Forum for undergraduate

students to foster the development of professional leadership skills and

inspire confidence in students’ ability to speak out (2009-2010).

Initiated and organized a monthly Faculty Forum for the discussion of

current topical issues (2009-2010). This resulted in the presentation of a

University-wide panel discussion and a College presentation on current

events (2009).
