We all face times when it feels like God is far away. Our prayers are unanswered and our circumstances go from bad to worse. During these times, God doesn't just seem distant; he seems distracted. People tell us to pray more. Preachers tell us to have more faith. But what does the Bible say? In this series, Andy Stanley explores the lives of three men from the New Testament, each loved by God, but whose circumstances seemed to tell a different story.
Join Greg and Joan Scott as they study “When God” by Andy Stanley starting Tues-day, April 12th at 7pm. Call 935-6o730 for details.

Verse of the Month
March has marched and is giving in to April. One
signal event every March is the first day of Spring. I
realize this can look a lot like winter at times, but
we know ultimately winter loses its grip. For that
matter, we all may have different takes on when
“Spring” has really sprung. Having grown up in Minnesota, I had a low bar and considered Spring to
be when the snow was finally gone. Others may feel this is when things green up and the flowers
kick in. At any rate, early in this period, Easter happens.
While we cannot be sure of the exact date of Christmas, we can know that Easter happened right af-
ter Passover, which is definitely in early Spring. This really works well for the symbolism of Easter.
Easter is the time of the resurrection of Jesus and speaks of new life in some ultimate sense. Spring
is about new life as well, though is more of a reawakening. The plants regain leaves and seeds
sprout, birds lay eggs and so forth. This offers us a great chance to think of newness and renewal in
our own lives, especially in our spiritual walks with Jesus. We can all grow in our faith and continue
to be transformed into the likeness of our Risen Lord. Let’s pray that God does a renewing work in
all of us in this season.
April of this year starts off with a bang, since the first day of the month
is Easter. He is Risen!!
The verse of the month was chosen because it captures the ministry of
Jesus between his resurrection and his Ascension 40 days later.
During this time he appeared to over 500 of his followers so there were
many witnesses to the resurrection. Our verse of the month says he
spoke of the Kingdom of God. This is fascinating. One would think Je-
sus might have given them marching orders on how to proceed with
maintaining his ministry, since his departure was at hand. He may
have given them a manual on how to organize this new thing we call the “church” and who would
lead it and so forth. Nope. The Kingdom of God. Perhaps we should refocus what we are about in
terms of the Kingdom of God rather than maintaining this thing we now call church. I am not saying
we jettison it all, but perhaps realign our priorities to those of Jesus and focus on something bigger
than a building and what goes on inside, though these are important. I realize these are provocative
words. I have no plans to upset any apple carts, but do want to encourage our thinking and ministry
approaches to be Kingdom oriented.
Acts 1:3 “He presented him-self alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.”
Traditional family life can be stressful and full of ups and downs even for the best of Chris-
tians. Step family couples, single parents and dating couples with children all can benefit
from practical wisdom for growing new, healthy family relationships.
Our local Christian radio station KMBI has two daily weekday programs that are geared specifically toward building up the entire family unit. They provide practical answers drawn from the Bible to issues faced by couples and families today. KMBI can be found at 107.9FM. Family Life Today airs Monday thru Friday from8:00-8:30 followed directly by Focus on the Family each night from 8:30-9pm.
Sunday School is from
9:00 - 9:45 for all ages.
Brenda Nagunst is heading up the Adult Sunday School classes with an intensive look at the Christian spir-
itual disciplines.
Phyllis Fitzgerald continues with her curriculum for the youngest children (ages 3 through K), while Val
Messerall is 1st- 4th grades with a memory verse-based curriculum. They are investigating the different
aspects of what it means to love and lay down your life for your friends in their everyday life. Kerry Burkey
is looking at the various aspect of the creation with the 5th through 8th graders, and Loretta is using the
Grapple studies for her High Schoolers.
Brian Nagunst is our floating aide.
Our dedicated and selfless Children
Church teachers; Lisa Wallner and
Trish Miller will be having the sum-
mertime off from their regular class duties.
Please spend some time in prayer, and consider filling
in for them during this time. If you have any questions
or would like to volunteer please contact Val Messeral at
the church office or 935-4363.

This world is not what it was meant to be
All this pain, all this suffering
There’s a better place waiting for me
In heaven
Every tear will be wiped away
Every sorrow and sin erased
We’ll dance on seas of amazing grace
In heaven…. ~Chris Tomlin
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 1Corinthians 13:11-12
Even the most hardened of adults find themselves bewildered at the logic and innocence of young children. We laugh at the logic of children. We think it’s cute the way preschoolers think. They have learned a lot, but there is still so much to learn.
But our “adult” knowledge too is partial and incomplete. We know some things, but we have a lot of ques-tions. We often say that when we get to heaven there are things we will ask Jesus, or Paul, or some other biblical character. But it’s quite possible that when we get to heaven we will realize that on earth we didn’t even know the right questions to ask. Issues that tear denominations apart here on earth might in heaven be totally unimportant. We may find that much of our great earthly knowledge is unimportant compared to the “surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus our Lord”
Father, we know only in part. As we wait until the day when we will see you face to face, give us humble, gospel grace to love one another. Amen.
