v ABSTRACT Identification is an important part in forensic medicine. Identification is an attempt to determine a person's identity through a number of characteristics that exist in people who are not known, so it can be determined that the person is the same as previously thought missing person is also known by it's characteristics. One of the primary methods of identification is DNA testing. DNA testing is generally used for personal identification, tracking genetic relationships, and tracking the source of biological material. The purpose of this study is to analyze the heterozygosity of DNA loci used in DNA testing and Genetic Distance between Malay population to other population groups based loci used in SMF Ilmu Kedokteran Forensik dan Legal RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung. This research is quantitative. The data is secondary data obtained from the DNA paternity test results from 88 person in SMF Ilmu Kedokteran Forensik dan Legal RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung. The results of the study only describes the characteristics of the DNA loci used in DNA testing in RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung. This study shows that the CODIS STR loci, Penta E, and Penta D shows polymorphic nature as indicated by the highest allele frequencies at each locus is less than 99% and polymorphism index ranged from 0.585 to 0.8737, so the CODIS STR loci, Penta E , and Penta D can be used for identification of the Malay population. Other results were obtained, genetic distance with a population of Vietnamese population has the lowest distance, which is 0.125, so the Vietnamese population genetic data can be used as a database for the identification of the Malay population.
