Gomez ABSTRACT The research paper is a broad and comprehensive analysis of psychological issues which were present in the novel “Looking for Alaska.” It focuses only in resolving the conflict about the mysterious death of Alaska which on the later part of the novel, became very controversial. Different psychological theories were mentioned by the other main characters in the novel, and based on those highlighted theories, the researchers further expand the gathered data, employ the literary approach, and conclude that the cause of the main character’s death is not a mystery. The researchers, through their employed approach, descriptively show the probable causes for the death of Alaska. The study concludes that the cause of Alaska’s car accident was a result of her negligence to abide by the proper ethics and procedures in driving on the road. Additionally, the study also presents how different factors such as being intoxicated by alcoholic beverages, being sleepy, and being confused in a specific road situation affect a driver’s behavior and condition of driving.
