Several COACCH partners are involved in organizing a session at ECCA 2019 (European Climate ChangeAdaptation Conference), 28-31 May. The session is titled “New developments in risk governance: exploringrisk attitudes and preferences for climate adaptation”. The aim of the session is to examine recentdevelopments on risk-based approaches for adaptation to climate change and the opportunities and barriersof risk attitudes and preferences in policy making.

Moreover, COACCH will share a booth with several other H2020 projects, where researchers will showcase ourdissemination material for the whole duration of the Conference.Make sure to stop by!

EVENTS / COACCH outputs @7th IAERE Conference

"A Chink in the Armour: How strong European economies are threatened by climate change". In this paperauthors Shouro Dasgupta, Jessie Granadillos and Malcolm Mistry analyse the impact of both gradual andextreme climatic stressors on sectoral (agriculture, industry, and services) labour productivity at the NUTS-2level in EU, using some data from the COACCH project. The paper will be published soon.

COACCH project participated to two side-events of the COP24 in Katowice (03-14/12/2018). The first eventshowcased the main findings of the evaluation on the EU Adaptation Strategy and the conclusions that canbe drawn from five years of operation of the Strategy. It also stimulated debate on the future of adaptationpolicy in the EU. The side event was organized by the European Commission, DG Climate Action. In thesecond event, titled "What’s good for climate action is good for your health", COACCH StakeholdersRelations Leader Paul Watkiss was invited by the European Commission to give a speech about the linkbetween climate action and human health.

EVENTS / F. Bosello Keynote Speech @Morningstar InvestmentConference

On 8 November 2018, Project Coordinator Francesco Bosello gave a keynote speech on the costs of climatechange and those of climate policies at the Morningstar Investment Conference in Milan. He made clear that ina context of uncertainty, a strong mitigation action is justified for economic and social reasons.

The Joint Policy Day presented the research outcomes from the threeHorizon 2020 Projects and a very interesting initiative to support development, sustainability, capacity buildingand fight climate change: Sustainability, Resilience & Coffee (SU-RE.CO).

A better understanding of the North Atlantic atmospheric conditions prior the occurrence of extreme precipitation events over Europe could help in improving our capability to predict them. Authors build on atmospheric re-analyses at high spatial resolution (such as JRA-55 and MERRA) to highlight the anomalous path of the vertically integrated water content. Paper published by INGV, Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia.
