Abby White

Abby White Abby is an 18 year old student at Winstanley College, she studies English Literature, Media and History. Abbys usual fashion style is slightly alternative/grungy. She wears dark colours usually (black and grey) but often add a pop of colour to her outfit. Abby listens to rock/heavy metal bands but also listens to drum n bass occasionally. Abby has bright blue dyed hair and wears it naturally wavy on most occasions. Abbys usual makeup consists of light foundation, large brows, bright lips, winged eyeliner, orange/smoky eyeshadow and she will often wear blue highlighter. I chose Abby to be a model in my magazine as I believe I could make her match my desired brand image; she looks eccentric because of her blue hair, piercings, tattoos and fashion sense. I wanted to create the idea that you dont have to follow generic girly stereotypes to become a successful female, you can follow your own style. I also chose Abby as we have been friends since high school therefore I would not feel uncomfortable taking photos of her or telling her what poses I would like her to do. I will not be using Abbys usual fashion sense as I believe it is more suited to a rock/indie music magazine and may make my brand image/genre less recognisable therefore I will ask Abby if she will wear different clothing that I will provide for her to make her more suited to underground dance music.

Danny Harrison

Danny Harrison Danny is an 18 year old Priestley College student- he is studying English literature and Language and Public Services. Dannys favourite genres of music are jump up and bassline, he will also occasionally listen to his favourite band Tame Impala. Danny is also taking up DJing in his spare time as a hobby. Danny aspires to eventually DJ at small events and hopes to post mixs on his Soundcloud. Dannys fashion usually consists of vintage Adidas football shirts, polo shirts, plaid shirts or abstract shirts with skinny jeans and Adidas shoes. Danny wears brands such as Ellesse, Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas and Hugo Boss. Danny usually purchases his clothing items off Depop. I chose Danny to be a model for my magazine as he fits the brand image I am attempting to create as he wears retro- style clothes. Danny is also my boyfriend therefore it will not be awkward during the photoshoot and I will be able to tell him how I would like him to look without him feeling uncomfortable. Danny is also a big fan of underground dance music therefore he has good knowledge of the background of the music and the aesthetic. He is also taking up DJing in his spare time; I thought we would be able to use his decks as a prop during the photoshoot.

Shannon Bretherton

Shannon Bretherton I am a 17 year old Winstanley college student who studies English literature and language, Media and Philosophy and Religion. I am a big fan of underground dance music: bassline, jungle, drum n bass and jump up. My favourite sub-genre is bassline and my favourite DJs are Skepsis, Darkzy, Notion and Shaun Dean. I am a regular attendee of underground dance music events and have visited several different venues around Manchester. My fashion style is inspired by late 80s/90s vintage- I wear abstract shirts, bright colours, denim jeans/jackets/skirts frequently, polo shirts, plaid shirts and fishnet tights. My makeup usually consists of an arched brow, heavy foundation, blush and glowy highlight. I often wear bright eyeshadow (pink and orange) but most often I go with neutral colours. I will be modelling for my magazine as I know I will not drop out like some of the possible models did. I also feel that it would be good for me to model in my magazine as I fit the brand image I am trying to create and I can style myself accordingly.

Luke Stroud

Luke Stroud Luke is a 17 year old aspiring DJ from Newton-le-willows. He specifies in the underground dance music sub-genre jump up mixing work from famous DJs such as Hedex, Macky Gee and Jack The Ripper. He takes inspiration from these popular DJs and produces mixes to post onto his SoundCloud. Luke has performed at small events such as raves and house parties but hopes to one day become large in the underground dance music scene. Lukes fashion usually consists of abstract shirts or polo shirts, skinny jeans, jumpers from brands such as Nike and Adidas and Adidas shoes. Lukes fashion is 90s vintage-inspired and usually purchases clothing from Vintage kilo sales or from Depop. He sometimes wears oversized coats and bucket hats also. I chose Luke to be a model for my magazine as he is already an aspiring DJ so he fits the brand image of my magazine perfectly- plus his fashion sense is also retro which is the theme I wanted to carry out throughout the magazine therefore I would not have to make any changes to his appearance. I also know that his has good knowledge of underground dance music and its aesthetic which means I would be able to capture good photos of him without telling him how to pose etc. I am also friends with Luke which means it would not be awkward whilst taking photos of him which means I will produce better pictures as he will not feel shy.
