• “The Iron Theatre” was established by the theatre director David Andguladze and a group of young actors. Their first production - “Quite a Different Opera”, after Bertold Brecht’s “Threepenny Opera”, was shown under the open air. As the experiment was a great success, the production is still in the repertoire of the Theatre. The Theatre is originally looking for different theater aesthetics to meet the audience, focused on discovering new, innovative expressing methods. The Iron Theatre makes the bold experiments, which often raises an interesting theatrical aesthetics.

• On June 7, 2014, the “Iron Theatre” opened its new premises, which amazed visitors by the extraordinary construction and space arrangement capabilities. The construction works that started a long time ago are still in progress, but the firs production - “Farm” has already been shown there. “Noah’s Arch” is the most frequently mentioned association related to the visual side of the new building. And indeed, we must admit that the modern Ark might have looked exactly like this - large-scaled, rough and unfinished - if it was designed to maintain life and it’s supreme from, the humanity.

• In the “Iron Theatre” will function, in parallel of dramatic performances, TV Theatre named “TT”.

• Despite the “young age” of the theatre, it is participant of several International Theatre Festivals. Among them is 16th International Black Sea Theatre Festival, which held in Trabzon, On May 2015.

“Quite a Different Opera” (on the motives of “The Threepenny Opera” by Bertold Brecht)

The production is based on the plot of “The Threepenny Opera” by Bertold Brecht. The verbal text and the plot of the original play are of less importance, which is why the title of the production is “Quite a Different Opera”. The variations of the well-known “Mack the Knife” theme is represented by different means (vocal, various technical and natural sounds, etc.)New version of Kurt Weill’s original music by Giorgi Chlaidze It is only at the end of the performance that the audience enjoys the sounds of the “broken” piano played by two pianists.
