Our speaker for the meeting will be Dave Bauer, co-owner of HBT Industries, Air Solutions and NationalTab. Mr. Bauer will be speaking on various topics related to commercial kitchen ventilation, including the evolution of hoods and hood design, what does and does not work and new advancements in grease capturing abilities. He will also cover new products that have the potential to help to achieve LEED credits and energy saving techniques. Dave Bauer is a graduate of the University of Missouri. He has eleven years of experience in the kitchen ventilation industry. Mr. Bauer owns HBT Industries, which is the local Captive-Aire representative for western Missouri and Kansas as well as specializing in installation of commercial kitchen ventilation systems. Air Solutions is an NEBB certified division of the company that specializes in the HVAC balancing of restaurants. Mr. Bauer is also involved with NationalTab, which is a nationwide organization of NEBB certified offices offering complete balancing services for national restaurant chain accounts. Despite windy and cool conditions, a total of 51 golfers gathered at Greene Hills Country Club in Willard, Missouri for the Fall Golf Tournament on October 2. Placing first in the A Flight with a score of were Jon Eckhardt, Jennifer Luce, Steve Womack and Tim Luce. Second place in the A Flight were Ron Bogart, Ryan Jones, Tim Marshment and Chad Fagg. Third place in the A flight went to Clayton Forgey, Travis Fort and Scott VanDoren. Winners of the B Flight were Stewart Rogers, Darrin Martin, Dwain Gold and Gary Stuckey. Placing second in the B

Flight were Aaron Fields, Chris Duncan, Eric Cochran and Tracy Baldwin. Third place in the B flight were Alan Mettemeyer, Brent Stevens, Todd Bolin and James Bryce. Hole prizes were awarded to Jennifer Luce for longest drive and to Tim Luce for both closest to the pin awards. Following the tournament, the players gathered for a dinner at the clubhouse and door prizes. Thanks to everyone who came out and played despite the weather conditions. Special thanks to Clayton Forgey for helping organize the event.

Our September general meeting was a special evening meeting held at University Plaza to recognize the past Ozark ASHRAE Presidents. Five past local chapter presidents were able to attend, and Bill Harrison, past national president of ASHRAE spoke about the importance of sustainability. We want to extend a special thanks toeveryone who has helped make our chapter what it is today and encourage everyone who has not experienced serving on the ASHRAE Board of Governers to consider it.

Trivia Tidbit Back by popular demand, here’s a bit of trivia to keep your brain cells active: The Beaufort Scale is a device for measuring the strength of the wind at sea. Normal breathing registers force two on the Beaufort Scale (described as a light breeze).

Salute to Construction 2009: Celebrating 25 years The Springfield Contractor’s Association will celebrate its 25 year anniversary by hosting its annual Salute to Contstruction on Thursday, November 5, 2009. Social time will start at 5:00pm at the Clarion Hotel (3333 S. Glenstone) with dinner following at 6:30pm, also at the hotel. A cash bar and hors d’oeuvres will be available during the social time.

Tickets are required and can be purchased for $25 by November 3, 2009 by visiting the SCA office at 1313 N. Nias Ave, The Builders’s Association at 521 S Ingram Mill Rd or Home Builder’s Association at 636 W. Republic Rd #D-108 or by calling 862-1313 or emailing [email protected]. After November 3, the price rises to $35.
