Airport Transportation Information
Taiwan has two international airports – Taoyuan and Kaohsiung International Airports. Taiwan
Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is located in northern Taiwan in Taoyuan City. and
Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) is located in southern Taiwan in Kaohsiung City.
Besides, we have our local airport, Tainan Airport, which provides some flights transportation
from other countries. Tainan Airport would be a more convenient destination if you are coming
from abroad to National Cheng Kung University, Tainan City.
Below are the transportation information about how to arrive at NCKU through the Taiwan
High Speed Rail (高鐵) or TRA (台鐵) from the airport. Please note that all prices are

Station」. It takes about 20 minutes and costs around NTD$18. After getting off the bus,
it may take you 30 mins from the bus stop to the dormitory.
You may also choose to take a taxi directly from TNN Airport to NCKU, but the cost may
be up to NTD$200.

2. Safety
※ Staying Safe
Make sure that you need to have an official ID such as the passport with you always.
Avoid leaving your backpack, computer, purse, suitcase, or wallet unattended in a public
place.
If you plan to travel, find directions before leaving. It is better to ask a bus driver
or shopkeeper for directions than from strangers. If you must walk alone, know where
are going and look confident. If you must take a taxi, let your friends know the taxi’s
number and keep your cell phone to stay in contact. If you want to drive a car or a
motorcycle, a driver license is required in Taiwan. The legal age for having the driver
license is 18.
You do not have to give money to street people; if you choose to give, avoid
opening your wallet or purse on the street. Also, when you go to withdraw cash from
ATM, be sure to cover the pin number when typing it.
Call 110 if you experience an emergency or have been the victim of a crime.
Call 119 for the fire-extinguishment or the ambulance.
※ Alcohol & Tobacco
In Taiwan, the legal drinking and smoking age is 18. According to Taiwan’s law, it
is highly forbidden to drink before driving. Smoking or drinking alcohol is prohibited
in all the buildings in NCKU campus.
※ Other Drugs
Drugs such as Marijuana (pot or weed), magic mushrooms, ecstasy (E), cocaine,
heroin and the likes are illegal and possession of them can lead to a penalty inclusive of
staying behind the bar. These drugs will cause serious harm to your physical and
psychological health, resulting in learning impairment. You should refuse them if you are
offered with these drugs.
