THE USES OF DURABOND .

Durabond EPO 100 can also be used and applied as a petroleum based epoxy coating and actually repel water.

The original manufacturer, BRADCOTE EPOXIES INC., of Houston, Texas has over 50 years of development and experience in Commercial roofing, petroleum, marine, industrial and residential applications.

EPO 100 is basically a protetctive coating, sealant and adhesive all combined in one, hence, being described as a multi-functional and multi-dimensional, which is based on co-reacted polymers with superior elastameric properties suitable on a variety of surfaces including METAL, ASPHALT, CORRUGATED IRON SHEETS, MODIFIED BITUMEN AND CONCRETE.

It acts as a flexible roof coating as well as a sealant to other surfaces and materials, and in conjuction with fiber glass fabric, is also suitable for coating petroleum based surfaces such as TAR OR RUBBER CEMENT. Its flexibility allows for withstanding of surface movement caused by thermal shock.

NOTES :

PRODUCT BENEFITS :

. This product provides long term protection against weathering abrasion and corrosion, and has superior high level resistance to moisture and oxidation.

. EPO 100 is a sustainable roofing system that saves buyer cost of removal and disposal of existing roof.

. Usually requires no repair to the roof or any coated surface, but should any type of damage occur from construction, the repair is SIMPLE, EASY AND QUICK.

. Coated surface withstands roof/surface movement and thermal shock.

. Lifetime warranty for leak proof. It stops leak prompt and final.

. Has Standard white colour as well as oter Custom colours as requested.

PREPARATION, MIXING & APPLICATION

STEP 1 : PREPARATION

Pressure wash roof surface or any surface to be applied, and free it of grease, oil, dirt and other contaminants.

N//B : If it is a roof, check if the Decking is still Strong and good. If it is bad, please REPLACE.

(a) FOR ASPHALT ROOF

In case of a cracked or penetrated ASPHALT roofing, cut open and smoothen with a scrapper. If there are gravels or tar on existing roof, SPUD it.

Fill in holes with a mixture of 3 parts sand with 1 part EPO 100, meaning 1 gallon of EPO 100 mixed with 3 parts of sand to give you a given concentration of epoxy resin to fill out any holes in sight.

NOTE : No object, raise or anything should protrude on the roof.

WHEN ALL THESE ARE IN PLACE, START TO PRESSURE WASH THE SURFACE, AND THEREAFTER COAT ACCORDINGLY.

Page 7: ABOUT DURABOND

(b) FOR METAL SURFACE/ROOF :

The surface must be free of galvanizing, mill scale, rust etc. If the metal roof is less than one (1) year old, clean with VINEGAR to remove galvanizing and test with water wash after. If the water used to clean BEADS, then clean again with more Vinegar to remove galvanizing entirely…then leave the surface wet.

WHEN ALL THESE ARE IN PLACE, START TO PRESSURE WASH THE SSURFACE, AND THEREAFTER COAT ACCORDINGLY.

(C) FOR CORRUGATED IRON SHEET :

Pressure wash and leave the surface wet.

Coat with EPO 100 AND WAIT FOR HOURS, THEN ROLL FORM and coat one more time.

STEP 2 : MIXING

This is the most important aspect of epoxy application.

Please use a POWER MIXER to thoroughly blend the materials to be used together with the epoxy EPO 100 , such as sand, fiberglass, activator etc, .

These materials should be labelled PART “A” while the epoxy resin is labeled PART “B”

A mixture of 1 quart of “PART A” and 1 gallon of “PART B” or 1 gallon/ Kilo of “PART A” and 4 gallons of “PART B” makes for the right mix.

The aim of the mixing is to achieve the required “THICKNESS” or “THINNESS” desired.

DIMENSIONAL RESULT FROM MIXING :

(a) 1 gallon of epoxy MIXED with 1 quart of any activator will give at least a dimension of 100 sq ft on wood, roof and other similar surfaces.

(b) 1 gallon of epoxy MIXED with 1 quart of any activator will give at least a dimension of 150 sq ft on metal.

MIXING PROCESS :Mix continuously scrapping the sides and bottom of the can/drum until the “A” and “B” are thoroughly mixed. Allow to INGEST OR STAND for at least 20 – 30 minutes before you start applying. In the case you wish to achieve more “thinness’ you can start thinning before you can apply the mixed solution. Where thinning is needed from the initial coating, please use only LACQUER THINNER, TOLUENE OR XYLENE.

Page 8: ABOUT DURABOND

N//B : DO NOT USE PAINT THINNER BECAUSE IT IS INCOMPATIBLE.

STEP 3. APPLICATION :

EPO 100 can be applied by SPRAY, BRUSH OR ROLLER at approximately achieving a dimension of at least 100 sq ft per gallon of mixing. You must use a fully charged thick napped roller, which will soak up to approximately a quart of the mixed solution/product. While using a roller make sure the surface is rolled in one direction and immediately rolled in cross-direction, to evenly distribute any coating inadvertently applied uneven.

APPLICATION ON METAL AND OTHER ROOFS

On metal roofs, after initial coat application, apply fiberglass matting to reinforce all seams. On all other roofs, apply fiberglass matting over the entire initial/first coat.

NOTE : All penetrations, corners and changes in direction should be reinforced with fiberglass matting before the second coat is applied.Allow for 2 – 3 hours period after initial coating, then apply the second coating.Rolling in cross direction will help to even the surface placement.

TIMING RULES FOR APPLICATION :

POT LIFE : 17 HOURS

DRYING TIME/PERIOD : 2 – 3 HOURS

CURING TIME : INITIAL CURE : 24 HOURS COMPLETE CURE : 7 DAYS

RELATED INFORMATION ABOUT EPOXY RESINThe epoxy resin, like the EPO 100, is avery strong material used as a sealant, adhesive, coating protector as well as a myriad of many things. There are two prominent problems associated with the epoxy resin and highlighted as below :(a) The epoxy resin is very thick and viscous and this means that it is peculiar to apply and

may cause streaks to appear on the finished roof project, if it is not carefully applied.

Page 9: ABOUT DURABOND

(b) When coating in wood surfaces and concrete, the epoxy thickness does not allow the resin to get into the dinks and cracks on the wooden floor, hence could create some pockets of air and cause streaks indicating improper application.

However this highlighted handicap in (b) above, can be overtaken with one due process and still allow the product to fulfill its terminal objective. This process is called THINNING.

Thinning reduces epoxy viscosity and gets it into those cracks and dings and little openings, enough to fill them out before a second coating seals effectively.

Thinning can be done by :

. HEATING

. ACETONE ( 10 gal epoxy + 1 gal Acetone )

. DENATURED ALCOHOL.
