ABOUT IIITDMJPandit Dwarka Prasad Mishra Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manu-facturing Jabalpur, established by Ministry of Human Resources and Development, govern-ment of India is one of the premiere technical institutes of national importance. It came to existence in January 2005, with a mission to create a multidisciplinary academic environ-ment to prepare and train man power of excellence for nurturing and promoting knowledge based activities and innovations in design, fabrication and manufacturing. Moreover, the institute’s Japan collaboration is an aspect of a wider partnership envisaged between the two countries. The institute is a global center of excellence in engineering education and research.The institute has always focused equally on both the theoretical and practical aspects of learning. The technical clubs provide a great learning opportunity to the students by giving them a chance to try their hands in making the practical use of the knowledge that they have. The Technical Fest “Abhikalpan” provides the students a major platform to explore and dive deep into their fields of interest. It lets them find the tech “geek” present inside them. The fun learning experience that the students get from such fests cannot be found elsewhere. The fest comes as a vast pool of awe inspiring events enabling participants from all over India to promulgate their talent and explore their passion in the field of technology.

ABHIKALPANABHIKALPAN is the annual technical fest of IIITDM Jabalpur, an institute which boasts of technical superiority and innovation in what it builds. It’s central India’s biggest technical extravaganza for creating, nurturing and fueling one’s interest in various domains of com-puter science, robotics, electronics, gaming and design. In conjunction with the various tech-nical events, various informal events keep the fest alive. The events that invite the footfall of thousands include Robowar, Circuit master, Brand presentation, Astronomy quiz amongst others .All in all Abhikalpan promises you nothing short of excellence from cut throat com-petition to mind boggling workshops from innovative events to thought provoking guest lec-tures, this year’s Abhikalpan promises to amuse you with innovations that will make your jaws drop and concepts that will blow away your mind.

“A seemingly magical process of transformation, creation, or combination.”Alchemy has been a source of symbolism, psychology, and mysticism. It has also been an influ-ence on the world view of various writers, artist, and musicians. It is an ancient art that was practiced in the Middle Ages. It was said that once someone was able to change, or transmute a "base" chemical into the perfect metal, gold, they would have achieved eternal life and salva-tion. The fundamental concept of alchemy reflects integrating minute things to make one colossal thing out of them and changing the basic layout of small things resulting in significant changes in the final product. The little things that we do every day make a big difference.Just as the internet is made up of millions of different computers all linked together to form a massive field of information, so is our life. Built out of millions of interconnected memories and experiences, one small action connected to the next, and each one of these tiny pieces of our life combine into the whole web of who we are.We all strive to attain perfection and balance in our lives and create big and significant chang-es by making small contributions from our part. Every small event that occurs and its end prod-ucts contribute to the success of our fest and hence justify the theme of Abhikalpan 2018 that is “Alchemy”.

EVENTSEvents are the soul of a fest. What makes up a fest, if not the competitions taking place all over making the place lively and full of enthusiasm? Abhikalpan constitutes of a plethora of events hosted by the numerous technical clubs of the Institute. The spectrum of technical clubs range from the fundamentals of Robotics to the uncharted mysteries of Astronomy. The events put for-ward by each and every club would test the knowledge of the participants about the particular topic and also their sheer hard work to step up, give their best and steal the show.

GUEST LECTURE

GUEST LECTUREIt is said that inspiration comes from within. There's just a need to drive and guide the inner self in the right direction. The Guest lectures organized during the fests do the same. Highly skilled entrepreneurs, leaders, businessmen etc. come to the institute to inspire and guide the young minds. Students benefit from their life experiences and stories of struggle.The enlightening interaction with eminent personalities ignites the minds of students and pro-vides them with a vast pool of knowledge. This unforgettable experience gets etched in the memories of students forever.

PRONITESThe most anticipated part about any fest is undoubtedly the enjoyment that comes with it. When all the peope come together after a tiresome day full with the buzz of the events taking place all around, after facing nail-biting victory or heart wrenching defeat, to release the pressure and catch up with the fest frenzy. That's when a pronite comes into a play and takes all your worries away. The perfect combination of nostalgia and chill, of retro and modern, of rock and pop and ultimately of competition and fun. The most spectacular way to conclude the much awaited and eventful fest.

WORKSHOPS

WORKSHOPSThe festival showcases wide array of workshops of all domains ranging from ethical hacking to raspberry pi. These awe inspiring workshops provide an excellent environment to the students in order to enhance their technical skill. They also allow for opening up the floor for discussions and hearing about other ideas on the topic – in a setting that encourages conversation. Becom-ing a part of these workshops would be a great learning experience and could be totally life altering.

INFORMALSSupplementing an array of formal events are a slew of more fun filled and laidback events that add a zing to the festival fervour. Lively and engaging events like 'KISMAT CONNECTION', 'BEG BORROW STEAL' and 'TREASEURE HUNT' have always been a crowd puller. Their vari-ety ensures there is something in store for everyone, despite the mixed crowd that our festival draws.
