Cake Frosting and Budgets

On the early radio news of January 25 was a story about a ‘shooting’ in Osage County, Okla-homa. On hearing the content of the story, which we must realize could be subject to a number of factual errors either by honest mistake or by design to further the agenda of the disarming of the citizens by those in power of the Communist/Socialist following and/or supporters.

Of particular concern to me in the story was the report that a land owner had discharged a weapon, into the ground, in hopes of stopping the commencement of drilling operations to explore for oil and/or gas. The owner maintained, it was stated, that the drilling rig had begun operations before the contracts had been fully executed. If true, he would be in his full constitutional rights to use a firearm to defend his property. After all, there is law in Oklahoma that a person is within his or her rights to use “deadly force” to defend life or property at residence.

The report carried a verbal statement, supposedly from the con-tractor, to the effect that ‘all of the regulations had been complied with. So far, it would appear that he feels that his rights and benefits supercede those of the owner on whose land his equipment had encroached. It was further reported that the Osage Tribe owned the minerals under the land and that “therefor their rights superceded those of the surface owner”. This attitude disturbs me substantially, since property rights are paramount in a free society, and without them, there can be no sem-blance of freedoms. Having spent the vast majority of my life in the exploration and production of oil and gas, and drilled, or supervised the drilling of, more wells for oil and/or gas than memory can count, it disturbs me to hear of such goings on by those in the same business. My sympathies are with those who have property without the mineral interests, as is the case in most urban residence properties. However, in law, those who would gain access to the mineral interests must deal

honestly and fairly with the surface owner, since they are taking some of the surface land for their extraction uses, thus a surface rental payment has been, historically, the normal procedure.

In my own operat ions , i t was the policy to be generous in surface rental payments, unless there was avail-able some ‘over-riding royalty’ percentage in which case a percent, or part, could be taken out of the working interest in the lease to help the land owner have a more tolerant attitude. An overriding royalty is carved out of the net revenue to the lessee of the minerals and is valid only so long as the lease is in force and ends at the termination of the lease. After all, friendly relations with the surface owner, whether min-eral or not, seemed to me to be most desirable for the ongoing satisfactory operation of the project, which could hopefully continue for years.

From the wording of the radio news reports, it sounds as if the leaders of the Osage Tribe have the attitude that they are supreme and that the poor surface owners have no rights at all and only exist at the plea-sure of the tribal leaders. One hopes that such is a case of mis-reporting and that the tribal leaders were really not so arrogant, but then it begins to appear that the drilling contractor, or the client, have the arrogant and self-ish attitude. In any event, this whole thing serves to cast a cloud on those remaining in the oil business.

The report also stated that the land owner was arrested on a charge of wrongful discharge of a weapon and pointing a gun. This, to me, is a miscarriage in the law enforcement since he was properly defending his property and, also according to the story, pointed the gun at the ground.

It is hoped that there some gross errors in the reports, otherwise we are all in danger.

Tea Party, Conservative Groups Mock Rove’s Crossroads’ Candidate Vetting Group

By Sandy FitzgeraldNewsmax

Two powerful conservative groups say a new American Crossroads’ initiative, formed to work against R e p u b l i c a n c a n d i d a t e s it deems un-electable, is just another at-tempt to muz-zle the GOP’s true base.

A m e r i c a n Crossroads , a super PAC founded by a group led by former Bush White House advisor Karl Rove, was the largest Repub-lican super PAC of the 2012 elec-tion cycle. The idea behind the PAC’s latest effort is to intensely vet prospective contenders for Congressional races to weed out candidates who are seen as too flawed to win general elections, The New York Times reported Sunday.

The new organization, the Con-servative Victory Project, was formed because “there is a broad concern about having blown a significant number of races be-cause the wrong candidates were selected,” American Crossroads President Steven Law told Po-litico.

Law and others want to avoid what has become known as the “Todd Akin problem” in some GOP circles. Republicans lost two high-profile Senate battles last year in which their candidate had expressed controversial views on social issues.

Obamacare: Massive New Rules Revealed for 2013

Then-Representative Todd Akin had been a favorite to take a Sen-ate seat representing Missouri before commenting on TV that pregnancy rarely occurs in the case of “legitimate rape”.

Rove and other senior Republican figures called on him to step down from the campaign, but he refused to do so. The resulting backlash from, in particular, female voters saw him lose a seat that many party officials believed was very winnable.

In Indiana, Republican candidate Richard Mourdock lost the Senate battle after suggesting that rape was “something God intended to happen”.

Karl Rove

But the Club for Growth and the Senate Conservatives Fund, both of which boost candidates

on the right, said the new group — which they mockingly nick-named the “Conservative Defeat Project,” is another example of “the Republican establishment’s hostility toward its conservative base.”

“Rather than listening to the grassroots and working to ad-vance their principles, the estab-lishment has chosen to declare war on the party’s most loyal supporters,” said Matt Hoskins, executive director of the Senate Conservatives Fund.

SCF, which works to push tea party-leaning conservative can-didates, backed Ted Cruz, Deb Fischer and Jeff flake in their suc-cessful Senate races last year. It was founded in 2008 by then-Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina, becoming an independent PAC in July, 2012.

“The Conservative Defeat Project is... a continuation of the estab-lishment’s effort to avoid blame for their horrible performance in the 2012 elections,” Hoskins added.

“They blew a ton of races up and down the ticket because they recruited moderate Republicans who didn’t stand for anything. Now they want to use this new PAC to trick donors into giving them more money so they can lose more races.”

Tea Party Patriots national coordi-nator Jenny Beth Martin tweeted: “TPPatriots want to save USA. Karl Rove wants to line pockets-Don’t Tread on Us! Tea Party bites back-never gives up!”

The First Things’ “Postmodern Conservative” blog blasted Rove in a column on Sunday.

“The ‘establishment’ candidates aren’t losing because of a lack of money, and giving Karl Rove

more bucks won’t lead to better Repub-lican Senate candidacies anymore than the $300 mil-lion that Rove r a i s e d a n d spent in 2012 helped Repub-licans win the presidency and pick up Senate seats,” blogger Pete Spiliakos wrote.

He advised Repub l i can

donors to “stop giving money to super-PACs who will spend the money on thirty second ads designed to win elections in 1988. All you are doing is making old school Republican consultants even more rich without their even having to think through the spe-cific problems of our time.”

Barney Keller, spokesman for Club for Growth, said many con-servative insurgents have emerged as influential GOP leaders.

“They are welcome to support the likes of Arlen Specter, Char-lie Crist and David Dewhurst,” Keller said of the new Crossroads group. “We will continue to proudly support the likes of Pat Toomey, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.”

The tea party-influenced groups spent millions of dollars in 2012 to boost candidates, but Ameri-can Crossroads was the heaviest spender. However, it did not get involved in nomination fights — something that’s changing this spring as it gets involved in competitive races starting to take shape.

Grover Norquist, who leads Americans for Tax Reform, a fiscally conservative advocacy group that plays a role in Repub-lican primary races, told The New York Times it was incorrect to suggest that candidates backed by Tea Party groups were the only ones to lose, pointing to es-tablishment Republicans in North Dakota and Montana who also lost their races last year.

“People are imagining a problem that doesn’t exist,” Mr. Norquist told the Times. “We’ve had peo-ple challenge the establishment guy and do swimmingly.”

Within a very short period of time all of our legislative depart-ments will be in session making laws and regulations that all of us have to live with. In addition to making laws and regulations, our legislators are required to spend the money that we taxpayers contribute to our state and federal government. One phrase that should raise suspicions for all of us is when some politician starts making promises that certain depart-ments will be fully funded. While that statement sounds good to the people in the departments who will benefit from any increased funding, the taxpayers need to start asking some hard questions.

First we need to ask a very simple question. Where does the fig-ure that they are using come from? Who is it that determines what fully funded is? In the real world a good businessman must have the ability to set priorities and use his available money to cover his needs the best way possible. I have noticed that the ability to budget money is often deficient in many of the political class. On the federal level our gov-ernment politicians, in their attempt to fully fund their pet projects, have simply pulled out their credit cards and indebted our nation to the tune of 16 trillion dollars. On the state level here in Oklahoma we have a balanced budget amendment which is supposed to prevent indebtedness

and poor financial practices. The ability to manage the available tax

dollars is essential for the well being of the state and the public at large. Spreading money around is a lot like smearing icing on a cake. All of us like to get a piece of cake with thick frosting, but it doesn’t always hap-pen that way. I have seen my mother take a small amount of frosting and cover a pretty big cake; if only our elected officials could do as well with tax money.

I have had to set budgets in the past; most often the various departments will submit a list of their needs for the next fiscal year. The people setting the budget have to review all of the requests and set priorities; from experience I know it is a thankless job and you prob-ably will not be making any new friends in the process. When you have a finite supply of money, the citizens need to be informed that whenever more money is granted to one department, that amount will have to be taken away from some other department. Most of the time all of this talk about fully funding certain departments is nothing more than a political ploy to gain votes in the next election cycle. We citizens need to understand that government cannot be everything for everyone. The decisions to fund, or not to fund, should be based upon the knowledge that we only have so much to spread around.

Alarming Statistics(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.

(B) Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000.

(C) Accidental deaths per physi-cian is 0.171.

Statistics courtesy of U.S. De-partment of Health and Human Services.

Now think about this:

Guns

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (That’s 80 million)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188

Statistics courtesy of the FBI

So statistically, doctors are ap-proximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, guns don’t kill people, doctors do!

Fact: Not everyone has a gun, but almost everyone has at least one doctor. This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor than as by a gun owner! Now if you have more than one doctor, you’re just out of luck!

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!

Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!

Status of gun industry Attention F.B. fans: to follow will be several IMPORTANT Info updates about the status of the gun industry cur-rently, followed by an INVEN-TORY UPDATE: We traveled to Texas for Industry meetings concerning the shortages, here’s what we were told.

Smith & Wesson-is running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages.

RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days

FNH: Moving from 50% produc-tion to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1.

Remington-Maxed out!

Armalite: Maxed out.

DPMS: Can’t get enough parts to produce any more product.

COLT: Production runs increas-ing weekly...bottle necked by

Bolt carrier’s.

LWRC:Making only black guns, running at full capacity...can’t get enough gun quality steel to make barrels.

Springfield Armory: Only com-pany who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind.

AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a na-tion wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/ of 1 BILLION rounds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line. MAGPUL is behind 1 MILLION mags, do not expect any large quantities of magpul anytime soon. RELOADERS... ALL Remington, Winchester, CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra’s for reloading purposes... it could be 6-9 months before things get caught up. Sorry for the bleak news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months. How to Balance the Budget in 10 Years

Both houses of Congress have now voted to suspend the debt ceiling until May 19, buying lawmakers more time to develop a budget. The Senate would put together a budget for the first time in three years—and the details of that budget are crucial.

To prevent the federal debt from growing further out of control and harming economic growth in the long term, Congress must balance the budget in 10 years and keep it balanced—without raising taxes further.

This 5-point checklist covers the do’s and don’ts of balancing the budget in 10 years:

1. Do not raise taxes. Despite the President’s repeated assertions that he favors a balanced ap-proach to deficit reduction, the latest budget debate over the fis-cal cliff concluded by allowing 13 new or higher taxes to take effect, while it produced a net increase in spending of $47 billion. The tax hikes are hurting the economy and American workers by dampening investment and job creation. Yet our debt challenge remains. Only significant reductions in spending will effectively curb debt and deficits.

2. Reform entitlement programs. Congress must make much-needed reforms to entitlement programs to provide an afford-able safety net. Congress should first repeal Obamacare or at least stop the subsidies and Medicaid expansion that begin in 2014. So-cial Security and Medicare should become true safety net programs and focus assistance on seniors in need. The eligibility age for both programs should match and

reflect increases in longevity. Social Security’s cost-of-living adjustment should be based on a more accurate measure of infla-tion.

3. Reduce discretionary spending. Congress should immediately stop all spending for programs that benefit only a few and have even the appearance of cronyism, like subsidies for public broad-casting, agriculture, green energy, and ethanol. The federal govern-ment should focus on a limited number of appropriate national duties. States and local govern-ments are better able to meet the needs of local populations in areas such as transportation, education, job training, economic development, and environmental conservation.

4. Do not use budget gimmicks. Congress must put the federal budget on a firm course to balance in 10 years and keep it balanced, without employing budget gim-micks. Congress should abstain from abusing disasters, like Hur-ricane Sandy, to push through excess spending. Neither should Congress enact laws that count on spending outside the 10-year bud-get window, as is the case with Obamacare’s coverage expansion provisions.

5. Do not sacrifice the nation’s security. Allowing myopic cuts to reduce military capabilities today risks incurring higher rebuilding costs tomorrow. Congress should responsibly fund defense at ad-equate levels.

The debate about the debt ceiling is the perfect opportunity to talk about America’s real budget pri-orities. Growing federal spending has put the nation on a track to fiscal collision, and a significant course correction is necessary.

Average historical tax revenues are 18.5 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). We can’t keep spending more than we take in. Spending must be reduced to this level over the 10-year budget win-dow to balance the budget. The Heritage plan, Saving the Ameri-can Dream, shows how Congress can prudently balance the budget in 10 years, without burdening Americans with higher taxes or compromising the nation’s na-tional security.

(AP) Atlanta • A student opened fire at his middle school Thursday afternoon, wounding a 14-year-old in the neck before an armed officer working at the school was able to get the gun away, police said.

Multiple shots were fired in the courtyard of Price Middle School just south of downtown around 1:50 p.m. and the one boy was hit, Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said. In the aftermath, a teacher received minor cuts, he said.

The wounded boy was taken “alert, conscious and breathing” to Grady Memorial Hospital, said police spokesman Carlos Campos. He was expected to be released Thursday night.

Muslim Brotherhood infiltration? ‘It’s Obama himself’

Mark Levin asks what kind of commander-in-chief would nominate Hagel

If lawmakers are serious about inves-tigating whether or not Washington has been infiltrated by the Muslim Brotherhood, they need look no further than Barack Obama him-self, charged talk-show host Mark Levin.

Levin noted the scorn congressional colleagues directed at Reps. Mi-chele Bachmann, R-Minn., Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, and three other House members who asked for an examination of evidence that the parent organization of jihadist groups such as al-Qaida and Hama were wielding influence on U.S. policy from within.

The lawmakers were “treated like pariahs,” Levin recalled.

The talk host contended Obama’s nomination of former Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel as defense secre-tary is evidence that Obama himself embodies the infiltration of the Mus-lim Brotherhood.

“You want to look into Obama’s soul?” Levin asked, then look at Hagel.

“What kind of commander-in-chief would nominate somebody like Chuck Hagel to be secretary of de-fense?” he asked.

“I’ll tell you what kind of com-mander-in-chief, the kind of com-

mander-in-chief that arms the Mus-lim Brotherhood, Islamonazi regime in Cairo while he’s hollowing out the greatest military force on the face of the earth under his direct command, the United States military.”

Fight back against CAIR’s attack on First Amendment by making a con-tribution to WND’s “Legal Defense Fund.” Donations of $25 or more entitle you to free copy of “Muslim Mafia” – the book so devastating to CAIR the group is trying to ban it.

Levin called Hagel a “sympathizer with the most radical elements in the Middle East, and an Israel hater.”

“So why would a president nomi-nate somebody like Chuck Hagel?” he asked. ‘Because the president is Chuck Hagel.

Even though Hagel made “a fool of himself” yesterday at his Senate confirmation hearing, Levin expects him to be confirmed, “because the Democrats are lockstep.”

“Even the Jewish Democrat members of the U.S. Senate, they’re lockstep,” he said. “The Anti-Defamation League, their lips are sealed. AIPAC – Hagel once called them the ‘Jewish lobby.’ Their lips are sealed; they’re all a bunch of cowards.”

Ombudsman Volunteers Needed

What is an Ombudsman?

An Ombudsman is a person who vis-its with residents living in long-term care facilities informing them of their rights. Volunteers listen to concerns residents may experience with staff, family or other agencies associated with their care in the facility. They do informal problem solving and sup-port residents and families in solving their own problems. An Ombudsman helps to improve the quality of life and care available to the residents.

In northeast Oklahoma, there are approximately 3850 available beds for long term care residents in 70 facilities. Sixty percent of Oklahoma residents who live in long-term care facilities have no visitors. Volun-teers are needed in every county.

A free Ombudsman Volunteer Train-ing has been scheduled in Grove, February 12th & 19th, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Grove Community Center, 104 W. 3rd. Those interested are urged to con-tact Lahona Young or Elaine Evans, Ombudsman Supervisors, Grand Gateway Area Agency on Aging at1-800-482-4594.

Ombudsman Supervisors are avail-able for group presentations, evening and weekend volunteer training upon request.

Thousands of Egyptians in three cit-ies under emergency decree defied the curfew and marched, protesting the rule of President Mohammed Morsi. Associated Press:

“Egypt’s army chief warned Tuesday that the state could collapse if the lat-est political crisis roiling the nation drags on but also defended the right of people to protest. Troops deployed in the two riot-torn Suez Canal cities of Port Said and Suez stood by and watched Monday night as thousands took to the streets in direct defiance of a night curfew and a state of emergency declared by the president a day earlier. Residents of those two cities and Ismailiya, a third city also the emergency, marched through the streets just as the curfew came into force at 9 p.m.

“The display of contempt for the president’s decision was tantamount to an outright rebellion that many worried could spread to other parts of the country. Already, protesters across much of Egypt are battling police, cutting off roads and railway lines, and besieging government of-fices and police stations as part of a growing revolt against the rule of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood group. At least 60 people have been killed since Friday...”

The army is of no mind to stage a coup. They are content to sit on the sidelines and watch the Muslim Brotherhood self-destruct, hoping that more pliable, secular politicians will be elected in upcoming parlia-mentary contests later this spring.

But opposition parties are still dis-united and disorganized. The Broth-erhood and their Salifis allies will almost certainly still hold a majority - although a much reduced majority - after the election. This means the drive to Islamicize Egyptian society will continue, which will probably lead to more protests.

With the economy near collapse, this prospect doesn’t hold much promise for President Morsi’s regime.

Hubby and I are still on the road, today we are in Sylacoga, Alabama. We drove down from El-dridge yesterday for a service at the Unity Free Will Baptist Church last night. Along the way, visiting dif-ferent churches we have run into old friends and made a lot of new ones. And, also, along the way, we have been learning that we are not the only “famous” old people running around the country.

We arrived at the Free Will Baptist Children’s Home on Jan. 18th and Hubby parked the car in front of the main building. He got out of the car planning to go in and greet the director, and find out where we would be staying. We always stay there when we are working in the Northwest part of the state, so we were familiar with our surroundings. They usually have several available units where they can receive visiting missionaries during the state confer-ences. We knew that we were only two of the eight or ten missionaries who were in the conference, and were pleased to see someone we knew when we pulled up.

Missionary Barry Long from Colorado was standing out front talking to Brother Snow, a mission-ary to Japan. We met Barry several years ago when he came to Mexico with a group from Georgia to do some work at the Bible Institute. At that time he was the youth pastor at their church.

When Hubby got out of the car Barry looked up, and a startled look spread across his face. Then he doubled over laughing.

Hubby walked over and greet-ed Brother Snow and shook hands with him. Barry raised up and with giggles still pouring, shook hands with Hubby.

“Brother Bud,” he said, “do you have a camouflage cap?”

“I probably do,” Hubby an-swered. We had just come from Pryor and Bill Chupp, a good friend of ours, had loaded us down with boxes full of caps to take to Mexico.

“Why do you ask?” Hubby said.

“Because,” Barry answered, “with a camouflage cap you would look just like Uncle Si.”

Well, with that conversation, we had to find out who Uncle Si is. We had never heard of him, nor the Duck Dynasty program on TV. We were busy all day Saturday, but on Sunday afternoon, Hubby stopped and bought a newspaper and checked the TV guide. We found where Duck Dynasty would be coming on Wednesday evening on a channel that we could pick up there at the home. We would have time to see the begin-ning of the program before we had to leave for our Wednesday evening appointment. So, we watched it. And, sure enough, there was Uncle Si. He is tall and thin, and his beard looks just like Hubby’s.

The next morning Hubby went out and started opening boxes of caps. There he found a whole stack of caps that look just like Uncle Si’s cap. He took one out and started wearing it.

I have probably written some-thing about the violence in Mexico. It is terrible. The drug cartels are bat-tling among themselves for controls of drug routes across the country, and the Mexican army, for the past six years, under the direction of President Calderon, and the marines have been trying to wipe out the drug cartels. We are living in a war zone. We have lost the Mexico that we have always known and loved.

Because of the danger of ran-dom shoot-outs, kidnappings for ransom, and slaughter of innocent victims and people who happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, it is no longer safe for us to drive our own vehicle to the Bible Institute.

Hubby leaves me at our son’s chil-dren’s home in Morelos, Coahuila, and he travels seven or eight hours on the bus to Altamira. The danger is just as great in Morelos, but, the car-tel in that area appears to respect the children’s home. A couple of years ago they even b r o u g h t Christmas gifts to the c h i l d r e n and to ld my daugh-ter-in-law who they were. And, since it is only about 40 miles into the country, we are not on the highway so long to get there. So, I stay there and Hubby goes about his work, building churches and finishing up a duplex on the Bible Institute campus for married students.

We were stopped twice driv-ing to the Bible Institute. The first time Hubby was driving our pickup and I was following him in our car. We had brought both vehicles out to get the six month permits renewed. A car whipped in between us and flashed his headlights so Hubby pulled over. I saw what was happen-ing so I stopped some distance behind him. The man who got out of the car told him that there was a quota for Americans who travel that highway. Never mind the fact that we had been driving that highway for the past 15 some years without paying a nickel, and we knew better. Hubby had given the attendant at the border a $5 bill to pay the bridge toll and had the $3 change in his shirt pocket. He told the fellow that we are missionaries, and that was all the money he had. The fellow took it and said he could buy a Coke with it and left. Hubby did not tell him that I was in the car back down the highway and had $6,000 in my purse for the Bible Institute. Now we can deposit the money in a bank in Texas and they transfer it to the school account and we don’t have to carry large amounts on us.

The second time we were together in the pickup. The same car stopped us in in the same area but a different man was driving. He motioned for Hubby to come back to his car. Hubby went back and started talking. He pointed out that they were stopping us every time we came that way, that we are missionaries. We are there helping their people. We work at a Bible Institute and have an orphanage where we work too. He just kept talking and didn’t let the man get a word in edgewise. Finally he just motioned for Hubby to go, so he came back to the pickup and away we went.

After that we made two trips in and out on the bus, until Hubby’s doctor found out about it. He told Hubby that we should not sit together on the bus, because if the wrong people stopped the bus they would take me and send him to the border to get $10,000. That ended my bus trips and started Hubby growing his disguise. Now Hubby takes me to the orphanage and I help our son and his wife there and he travels alone.

To be safe on the bus, Hubby has grown a long beard and let his hair grow down to his collar. He wears dark glasses to cover his blue eyes, and a floppy old hat to cover his bald top, and an old, faded shirt when he travels.

When the soldiers stop the bus and search the passengers’ luggage, one never is sure if it is really the sol-diers or not. A factory was recently discovered in Piedras Negras where the workers were reproducing mili-tary uniforms for a drug cartel. With

It is my opportunity to speak out and make a positive impact for my community and for US Agriculture. It is my voice, my future and my responsibility. My response can either be by internet – responding online is fast, easy and secure, or by mail where the packet included 24 pages with up to twenty lines on each page.

Whoever thought this form is fast and easy must be the per-son that runs it through the scan-ner and watches it spit out the results. They do include a toll free phone number if you require assistance!

And to build confidence in the system it states “The 2012 census of agriculture is protected by law. (Title of US Code and CIPSEA, Public Law 107-347). The same laws require us to keep your identity and your answers confidential.”

It makes me think that there is no communication between

arms of the government. I sup-pose they want to honor their promise of confidentiality.

Last week I watched a docu-mentary about drones. Drones are UAV’s, which are unmanned air vehicles. It is now possible for someone with no flight training and only basic computer skills to operate a drone on the other side of the world and from 85,000 feet altitude see a person on the ground waving his arms.

I am not too sure that I should know all this Star Wars technol-ogy. Big Brother is watching you! I wonder what went through my grandparents mind when they saw their first airplane or heard the first telephone ring.

We Okies can be proud of our heritage. Our ancestors were a tough breed. Since the 1907 statehood, there have been mul-tiple disasters – wars, financial collapse, dust bowl and droughts. We are in a good area of the coun-try. All of the major routes coast to coast cross us.

We have produced world famous people from astronauts, cowboys, oil barons, sports fig-ures, Olympic champions and beauty queens. And let’s not forget the worldwide influence of our farmers and ranchers who produce large quantities of agri-culture products for export.

As I began this article I was complaining about the need to respond to all those questions. Now, a couple of days later I re-ceived the 2012 Oklahoma Farm Statistics which also goes in detail about the state and national crop average, yield and production.

For instance, 2012 corn for grain in Oklahoma was 32.5 mil-lion bushels, up 90 percent from

2011. Yield averaged 110 bushels per acre from 295,000 harvested acres. Production of all hay was 4.4 million tons, up 88 percent from 2011. Yield averaged 1.37 tons per acre.

The national wheat yield averaged 46.3 bushels per acre, up 13 percent from 2011. So in-cluding all the statistics of cotton, peanuts, soybeans, canola and sunflowers, this made an inter-esting report that is only possible as we take the time to fill out our surveys and send them in, right?

Last week I attended the Ag Connect farm equipment show in Kansas City. I may give a report about that next week. I am still re-covering from the effects of walk-ing miles it seemed, in the hotels and the Convention Center.

Well, that’s all for this week. Keep praying for rain!

Have a good week. God Bless.

President Obama must es-pouse the concept that life is an unalienable right endowed by God inasmuch as he invoked those words twice in his second inaugural speech recently. This column will not chal-lenge the Biblical aspect of those famous words in this great nation’s founding documents but will rather examine the president’s words and attempt to understand his perception of the meaning of ‘life’.

Human life is indeed sacred in the eyes of God. First and foremost man and woman were created in God’s own image.

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Genesis 1:27

For the very reason that man is created in God’s image, man is required to pay for the taking of another’s life with his own life. Hence; capital punishment was initiated centuries before Israel was ever a nation and never set aside.

“Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God He made man.” Genesis 9:6

A contemporary argument is whether ‘life’ begins at the point of conception or at physical birth.

The Bible records several il-lustrations that enhance understand-ing. Recall that when Isaac took Rebekah as his wife the LORD gave her conception.

“Now Isaac pleaded with the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife con-ceived.” Genesis 25:21

Rebekah conceived twins and the Bible identifies both of them while in her womb and calls them ‘children’.

“But the children struggled together within her; and she said, ‘If all is well, why am I like this’? …And the LORD said to her: ‘Two nations are in your womb, two peoples shall be separated from your body; one people shall be stronger than the other, and the older shall serve the younger.’” Genesis 25:22-23

The above passage confirms that not only were ‘children’ living in her womb, but God had estab-lished a purpose for both of them while they were still in the womb, i.e. before being ‘separated from your body’.

The Apostle Paul quoted the story of Isaac and Rebekah in the New Testament as an illustration of election.

A bipartisan group of eight U.S. senators has proposed an im-migration reform plan that appears to broadly reflect what voters would like to see. But there’s a catch.

Most Americans (56 percent) want our nation to have a welcoming policy of legal immigration. With such an approach, the only people who would be excluded are national security threats, criminals and those who would seek to live off our gen-erous system of welfare and other benefits. Sixty-one percent of Re-publicans favor such a policy, along with 55 percent of Democrats and 52 percent of unaffiliated voters.

But while favoring such a wel-coming policy of legal immigration, voters want to stop illegal immigra-tion. Eight out of 10 think this is an important policy goal, including 58 percent who say it’s very important. Once the borders are secure, people are quite willing to support almost any proposal to legalize the status of illegal immigrants already in this country: 64 percent see this as an important goal, including 33 percent who say it’s very important.

With this background, it’s no surprise to find initial support for the plan rolled out by the senators. It provides a combination of improved border security with a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants al-ready here. Fifty-nine percent of vot-ers nationwide favor the approach, while only 18 percent are opposed. Most Republicans, Democrats and unaffiliated voters are on board.

Especially popular is the inclu-sion of strict penalties for employers who knowingly hire illegal immi-grants. Sixty-four percent support this provision. Voters have long been supportive of penalizing employ-ers and landlords who profit from illegal immigration. They would rather punish them than penalize the immigrants. For most Americans, it’s easier to understand why people would want to better themselves by coming to America than to tolerate U.S. companies that knowingly en-courage them to break the law.

Yet despite the broad support for the outlines of the bipartisan legislation, the prospects for its pas-sage are far from clear. The reason has little to do with the immigration issue itself and everything to do with the lack of public trust in the govern-ment. If the proposal were to become law, only 45 percent of voters believe it is even somewhat likely that the federal government would make a

acknowledged God’s sovereignty in his life which began prior to his birth.

“For thou hast possessed my reins; thou hast covered me in my mother ’ s w o m b . ” P s a l m s 1 3 9 : 1 3 (KJV)

T h e H e b r e w base trans-lated ‘pos-s e s s e d ’ means to be owned as a result of being pur-chased. The base for ‘reins’ means one’s interior self, while ‘covered’ means to protect or defend.

There is another wonderful story of ‘life’ recorded the gospels. It involves Mary, the mother of Jesus and Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. After Gabriel informed Mary of her mission, she went to visit Elizabeth who was six months pregnant with John.

“Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill coun-try…and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb…” Luke 1:39-41

Recently following the ter-rible incident in Newtown, Con-necticut President Obama addressed the nation with genuine sorrow. With tears in his eyes he said that the most difficult day of his presidency was the day of that terrible disaster when the lives of twenty innocent children were taken.

However, in spite of his sin-cere profession of sorrow for the death of innocent children, Mr. Obama openly supports late term abortions, and as a state senator he opposed legislation which would have insured that babies who sur-vived abortion attempts would be given medical care.

It challenges not only Bibli-cal wisdom but basic reasoning that anyone would oppose capital punishment while enabling the tak-ing of innocent life before that life was delivered from his/her mother’s protective womb.

At the conclusion of Presi-dent Obama’s inaugural address, he stated: “Thank you, God Bless you, and may He forever bless these United States of America.”

Everyone can ponder the president’s closing statement and determine for themselves the likeli-hood that God will forever bless this great nation.

President Obama has gone around Congress in as many ways as he can find. One way is by abusing the presi-dential power to make appointments to government positions during a Senate recess—to avoid having the Senate confirm the nominees.

Last week, a three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals dealt quite a blow: It ruled that a number of President Obama’s “recess appoint-ments” were invalid.

As Todd Gaziano, director of Her-itage’s Center for Legal and Judi-cial Studies, said: “Our unilateral president must take his unilateral medicine.”

Heritage’s James Gattuso explains:

To sidestep opposition in the Senate, the President declared these to be “recess” appointments, invoking his prerogative to fill vacancies without Senate confirmation when that body is not in session. The action was roundly criticized on the grounds that although the Senate was not actively conducting legislative business, it was formally still in session.

The judges said that President Obama made the appointments during an invalid “recess,” and that recess ap-pointments cannot be made unless the position becomes vacant dur-ing the Senate’s valid recess. This brings up huge questions for all the appointees who have now been de-clared invalid—and the regulations they have created during their time in office.

There’s the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which had two mem-bers appointed in this way. Gaziano notes that “13 months’ worth of rul-ings, regulations, and other actions by the NLRB are now in question, because without the illegal recess appointments the NLRB lacked a quorum to act during all that time.”

And then there’s the Consumer Fi-nancial Protection Bureau (CFPB), whose director, Richard Cordray, was another of these invalid ap-pointments. The bureau has been regulating away for the past year, but Gattuso writes that “the new rules adopted by the CFPB under Cordray will likely be invalidated.”

Gattuso describes the CFPB as “per-haps the least accountable entity in the federal government”—so this is good news.

The odds are that this imbroglio will stall the CFPB’s regulatory agenda for some time. That, however, is no bad thing for consumers. The rules adopted by the CFPB, by limiting lender activity, decrease options for consumers and increase costs for mortgages and other loans. Reining them in could actually be a boon for consumer welfare.

There’s a reason the Senate is sup-posed to confirm these nominees—and in the case of the CFPB, the agency itself merits closer scrutiny. The judges’ decision is a welcome check on Obama’s abuses of pow-er.

A Blow to Obama’s Imperial Presidency

Chris Kyle, Most Lethal US Sniper Gunned Down in Texas

Chris Kyle, the Former Navy SEAL who was gunned down on Saturday in Texas leaving behind a legend as America’s most lethal sniper in history, told Newsmax TV last year that av-erage Americans simply cannot understand how horrific war is.

N o r d o they understand the sacrifices of relatives back home as service members fight for freedom, Kyle explained in the exclusive interview.

Kyle wrote “American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military His-tory” partly to acknowledge those sacrifices and honor those who make them, he said at the time.

The American hero was fa-tally shot along with another man Saturday on a Texas gun range and a 25-year-old man was charged with their murders, the Texas Department of Public Safety said Sunday.

Sgt. Lonny Haschel said in a news release that Eddie Ray Routh of Lancaster was arraigned Saturday evening on two counts of capital murder.

Haschel said Erath County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a shooting at the Rough Creek Lodge, west of Glen Rose, at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Police found the bodies of Kyle, 38, and Chad Littlefield, 35, at the shooting range. Glen Rose is about 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Police said Routh opened fire on Kyle and Littlefield around 3:30

p.m. Saturday, then fled in a Ford pickup truck. At about 8 p.m., Routh arrived at his home in Lancaster, about 17 miles southeast of Dallas. Police arrested him after a brief pur-

suit and took him to the Lancaster Police Depart-ment.

The Lan-caster Police De-partment referred all calls to the Texas Depart-ment of Public Safety in Gar-

land, and a phone message about where Routh is being held was not immediately returned Sunday.

Kyle’s book provides gripping accounts of combat situations from the 10-year-period between 1999 and 2009 in which he recorded more than 150 kills, although the Pentagon wouldn’t confirm the actual number for Kyle’s book. The previous record was 109.

Kyle told Newsmax how he

PGA REPORT

Congrats to Phil Mickel-son

G o l f e r Phil Mickelson missed history at the Phoenix Open Thursday, lipping out his final birdie putt that would have given him an historic 59. Mickelson misses his-tory, as only five players have ever recorded a 59 in a PGA Tour round.. Mickelson misses history and the chance to join some rare company. The all-time record on the PGA Tour is a 58, recorded in 2012 by Ryo Ishikawa. Phil went on to win the 72 hole tournament by 4 strokes.

GOLF TIP OF THE WEEK

The next time that you are practicing your little 20, 30, 40 yard shot to the pin, I suggest that you separate your hands ¼ to ½ inch. This causes a “strange feeling” and thus generates more focus. It also helps in reducing the amount of wrist-action that you use; which is ideal. Another tip is to not forget that your Hybrid might just be your best club in the bag for little bump and run shots. Try it, you’ll like it.

As usual, if this doesn’t help, give me a call: Steve at 918-257-4967.

Arbuckles’ remarkable bass point to

management successesSULPHUR, Okla. - Recent remarkable catches at Lake of the Arbuckles have made a big splash in the local bass fishing community. On successive weekends in January, the winners of separate bass tournaments managed to haul in five-fish stringers totaling more than 40 pounds each.

That means each of the five largemouth bass on these two stringers weighed on average more than 8 pounds apiece!

The lunkers validate the fisheries management activities conducted by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation over the previous decade at Lake of the Arbuckles.

“The ingredients that you need to produce trophy bass are present in Arbuckle right now,” said Gene Gilliland, assistant chief of fisheries with the Wildlife Department. “I really like seeing how Arbuckle has become quite a success story from a fisheries management perspective.”

During the Jan. 19 season-opening tournament held by Backyard Bassin’ Tournament Trail, anglers Jeff Reynolds and Johnny Thompson scored a big win with a stringer weighing 42.04 pounds. But they failed to win biggest-bass honors that day; that title went to a fish weighing 10.7 pounds that was brought in by the team of Marc Barber and Gary Rowland.

A week later on Jan. 26, Marco Vaca and Doyle Idleman won Future Bass Team Trail’s season opener. Their five-bass limit weighed in at 41.92 pounds. Again, the winning team did not catch the biggest bass of the day. Second-place team Reynolds and Thompson weighed in a 10.65-pound lunker for the prize.

Gilliland said Arbuckles’ big bass illustrate how proactive fisheries management can yield great results over time.

“Historically, Arbuckle has not been a great bass fishery. It was dominated by large numbers of small, slow-growing bass,” he said. “In the early 1990s, the Wildlife Department backed off on stocking Florida strain largemouth in Arbuckle because there was a period when the Department didn’t have enough production from the hatchery to stock Florida bass in very many lakes in the state.”

About a decade ago, as the hatcheries’ Florida strain largemouth production increased, the Wildlife Department resumed stocking them in Arbuckle and other Oklahoma lakes to enhance the trophy possibilities.

“Those fish have obviously matured,” Gilliland said. “The fish that we stocked, or the offspring of those stocked fish, are now turning into these trophy bass that are being caught on a pretty regular basis for about the past three years.”

He said Lake of the Arbuckles has grown big bass because of the fa-vorable conditions found there. “You have good genetics from the stocking program, good habitat, and good forage. Arbuckle has a very good survival rate of young bass, and it’s also a lake where fish can live deep most of the year, avoiding encounters with anglers and growing older and bigger.

“Catching those bigger fish gets pretty tough later in the year, so the bass have a chance to grow up. I don’t think that many people realize how long it takes to produce an 8- to 10-pounder,” he said.

Gilliland cited another factor that might be contributing to angler success at Arbuckle.

“The fishing pressure has increased dramatically over the past few years. On an ‘angler per acre’ level, Arbuckle gets hammered,” he said. “There may be just as many big bass in other lakes where we have stocked Florida bass on a regular basis, like Sardis or Broken Bow, but those fish-eries are much bigger,” which means the fishing pressure is spread across a larger area.

“When you have more anglers on a 2,300-acre fishery that is very accessible, the chances of someone catching a big fish generally go up,” Gilliland said.

Oklahoma’s bass fishing will be in the national spotlight in late Febru-ary as the world’s greatest anglers gather at Grand Lake northeast of Tulsa for the 2013 Bassmaster Classic tournament, widely considered the Super Bowl of professional bass fishing. The event is expected to lure as many as 70,000 people to the region, with a potential boost of about $24 million to the region’s economy.

“It’s easily the biggest fishing event that will ever come to Oklahoma,” Gilliland said.

Politicians, pundits and private citizens have been sounding off on Barack Obama’s new push for gun bans, but what do the professionals whose job it is to use guns in the protection of their nation, their fellow countrymen and themselves say?Watch out.

An open letter has been posted on the Professional Soldiers blog that has been signed as of this writing by more than 1,100 current and former U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers, the Green Berets.

The soldiers say first it’s important to define the issue and set the record straight.

“The terms ‘assault weapon’ and ‘assault rifle’ are often confused,” they say. “According to Bruce H. Kobayashi and Joseph E. Olson, writing in the Stanford Law and Policy Review, ‘Prior to 1989, the term ‘assault weapon’ did not ex-ist in the lexicon of firearms. It is a political term, developed by anti-gun publicists to expand the category of assaults rifles.’”

The Green Berets, who use the weap-ons, point out the M4A1 carbine is a U.S. military service rifle – it is an assault rifle.”

“The AR-15 is not an assault rifle. The ‘AR’ in its name does not stand for ‘Assault Rifle’ – it is the designa-tion from the first two letters of the manufacturer’s name – ArmaLite Corporation. The AR-15 is designed so that it cosmetically looks like the M4A1 carbine assault rifle, but it is impossible to configure the AR-15 to be a fully automatic assault rifle. It is a single shot semi-automatic rifle that can fire between 45 and 60 rounds per minute depending on the skill of the operator. The M4A1 can fire up to 950 rounds per minute. In 1986, the federal government banned the import or manufacture of new fully automatic firearms for sale to civil-ians. Therefore, the sale of assault rifles are already banned or heavily restricted!”

Likewise, they say, a ban on “high-capacity” magazines would be ir-relevant, pointing to the shooting by Eric Harris at Columbine High School as proof. The letter explains that when the first weapons ban was adopted in 1994, manufacturers retooled their products to meet the requirements of the law.

“One of those ban-compliant fire-arms was the Hi-Point 995, which was sold with ten-round magazines. In 1999, five years into the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, the Colum-bine High School massacre occurred. One of the perpetrators, Eric Harris, was armed with a Hi-Point 995. Un-deterred by the ten-round capacity of his magazines, Harris simply brought more of them: thirteen magazines would be found in the massacre’s aftermath. Harris fired 96 rounds before killing himself.”

And, underlying the issue, the letter says, is the Constitution’s assurance of protection for the “sacrosanct” right of self-defense.

“Our Constitution established a sys-tem of governance that preserves, protects, and holds sacrosanct the individual rights and primacy of the governed as well as providing for the explicit protection of the governed from governmental tyranny and/or oppression,” they say..

They write that it is easy to blame guns, but weapons aren’t really the problem. Civilized society already proves it, they contend.

“We cite the experience in Great Britain,” they write. In 1987 was the Hungerford massacre that killed 18, and the government followed with a 1988 law banning semi-automatic guns. But eight years later, a “dis-turbed” man murdered 16 children and a teacher the Dunblane school. Immediately the law was amended to ban “all private ownership of handguns.”

Somehow, criminals apparently didn’t get the message, the letter suggests.

“Despite having the toughest gun control laws in the world, gun re-lated crimes increased in 2003 by 35 percent over the previous year with firearms used in 9,974 recorded crimes… Gun related homicides were up 32 percent over the same period.

… Gun related crime had increased 65 percent since the Dunblane massa-cre and implementation of the tough-est gun control laws in the developed world,” the letter says.

“In contrast, in 2009 (5 years after the Federal Assault Weapons Ban ex-pired) total firearm related homicides in the U.S. declined by 9 percent from the 2005 high,” the letter says, citing FBI statistics.

Since gun bans don’t really impact violence, what is the issue at hand?

“The purpose of the Second Amend-ment is to secure our ability to oppose enemies foreign and domestic, a guarantee against disorder and tyr-anny,” the Green Berets say.

Berets, from pg. 1___________

serious effort to secure the borders and reduce illegal immigration. That figure includes just 15 percent who think the government is very likely to make such an effort.

As on most issues, Democrats are far more trusting of the govern-ment. Two-thirds of those in the pres-ident’s party think the government is likely to enforce the entire law. However, 69 percent of Republicans and 56 percent of unaffiliated voters think the government is unlikely to follow through on the provisions to reduce illegal immigration.

Overcoming this skepticism is the key to maintaining support for any comprehensive reform. Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, one of the group of eight, has said that the enforcement provisions will have to be working before the pathway to citizenship can be opened. That’s consistent with public opinion. all of the shoot-outs with the soldiers they have stolen army trucks and jeeps. And the “Fast and Furious” project in the USA gave the cartels 3,000 AK47s !!! I still am amazed and appalled by that project and still wonder what idiot in Washington initiated it? It was certainly someone who did not have a clue about what is going on in Mexico.

Recent reports say that in the past six years around 100,000 people have been killed and there are at least 20,000 who have disappeared. We are acquainted with folks who have lost family members who just van-ished off the face of the earth. They have probably been killed and just buried in some plot along with others the cartel has slaughtered.

The last two times that Hubby came out on the bus the soldiers stopped them. Two soldiers climbed on board with their automatic rifles the first time and checked everyone’s Mexican ID card. Well, of course, Hubby did not have one, so he just pulled out his driver’s license and held it up. The soldier walked right by him and did not even look at his license. The last time, two soldiers climbed on board, again toting their weapons, and told everyone to get off, take their carry on luggage, claim their suitcases, and open everything for an inspection.

Hubby waited until everyone else passed by him, then he stood up to get off. The soldier looked at him and with his hand just motioned for him to sit down. So, he did. They had looked him over and decided he was a homeless man. I am sure they thought, “What could that old man have?” and they just left him alone.

So, Uncle Si, you probably don’t know it, but you have a double running around south of the border. But, not to worry, your good name is still intact. He is a fine man, and he will make you proud.

Alabama Crimson Tide, anticipat-ing their first national champion-ship since 1988, a major part of the hype and the drama was the tragedy surrounding linebacker Manti Te’o and the untimely death of his beautiful young girl-friend, Lennay Kekua, and his beloved grandmother… both of whom reportedly died of cancer on the same day. It was a heart-wrenching tale of victory and tragedy intertwined.

According to the South Bend (Indiana) Tribune, Manti and Lennay met after a Novem-ber 2009 football game between Stanford and Notre Dame in Palo Alto, California. The Tribune reports that “Lennay Kekua was a Stanford student and Cardinal football fan when the two ex-changed glances, handshakes, and phone numbers that fateful weekend three seasons ago.”

However, all of the hype and spin… obviously designed to give Notre Dame a public rela-tions edge and Te’o, personally, a leg up on the Heisman Trophy and a boost in the upcoming NFL draft… came tumbling down on Wednesday, January 16. Ac-cording to a CNN story, “A sports website called Deadspin published a piece dismissing as a hoax the existence of (Manti) Te’o’s girlfriend – the one who he said died around the same time as his grandmother while his team marched toward the BCS National Championship Game.”

The university held a news conference saying Te’o was the “victim of an ‘elaborate hoax.’ ” Te’o released a statement saying he was embarrassed and that he was the victim of a “sick joke.”

Victim of a sick joke? Te’o’s father, Brian, was quoted in the Deadspin article as saying: “They started out as just friends. Every once in a while, she would travel to Hawaii, and that hap-pened to be the time Manti was home, so he would meet with her there. But within the last year, they became a couple.”

Many skeptics are now openly doubting Te’o’s insistence that he is the innocent victim of a hoax. For example, why did he tell reporters in a pre-Heisman Trophy presentation interview on December 8 that he “lost both my grandparents and my girlfriend to cancer,” when just two days earlier the woman he thought was dead called him on his cellphone?

Why did he tell a Sports Il-lustrated reporter in October that Kekua came to one of his games, but later insist that he never met her? And if he knew that Lennay Kekua didn’t exist… which he clearly had to… why did he con-tinue to give numerous interviews in which he described in great detail the deep and abiding love they shared?

Officials of Notre Dame are quite anxious to absolve them-selves of any blame in creating a hoax that could only have two beneficiaries: Notre Dame Uni-versity and Manti Te’o. Notre Dame benefitted from a sympathy factor just weeks before the big-gest game in 25 years. While Te’o benefitted by increasing his stock as a Heisman Trophy finalist and as a top prospect in the NFL draft. If Hollywood should ever decide to make a movie based on Manti Te’o’s imaginary love affair, they might title it, “Figure Me Out, if You Can.”

Hollrah, from pg. 1__________Then, of course, we have

the greatest imposter of all time, Barack Hussein Obama, who has succeeded in hoaxing his way into two terms as president of the United States.

As Obama begins his sec-ond term in the White House he has apparently convinced almost every Democrat in the country that he is, in fact, eligible to serve as president, in spite of the fact that he was born with British citizenship and currently holds Kenyan citizenship. Democrats believe that these facts should not disqualify him, while frightened Republican leaders fail to act against him for fear that they be branded as something worse than a child molester… a “birther.”

Within hours after being sworn in as president of the United States on January 20, 2009, Obama signed Executive Order 13489, sealing from pub-lic inspection the most critical evidence of who he actually is. The documents sealed from view by historians, the media, and the people, include, but are not lim-ited to, the following:

· His official long form birth certificate,· His U.S. and Indonesian pass-port records, · His Indonesian adoption re-cords,· His Panahou (Honolulu) school records,· His Occidental College re-cords,· His Columbia University re-cords, · His Harvard Law School re-cords.· His College theses,· His Harvard Law Review ar-ticles,· His medical records,· His Illinois State Senate pa-pers,· His Illinois Bar Association records.

The birth certificate that Obama posted on the White House website on April 27, 2011 has been examined by some of the top forensic experts in the country and has been found to be a rather poor forgery. Lord Monckton, a recognized authority on probability theory, has found that the chances that Obama’s birth certificate is authentic are somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 in 75 quadrillion… roughly equal to the chances of winning the Powerball lottery, and being struck by lightning, on the very same day.

The Social Security number that Obama has used for many years produces a “no match” when submitted to the Social Se-curity Administration’s E-Verify test… the same test that prospec-tive employers use to verify that prospective employees are legal residents of the U.S. The Social Security number that Obama uses was reserved for use by a resident of Connecticut… where Obama has never resided… and was first issued to a person unknown between 1977 and 1979.

Of the three greatest im-posters/hoaxsters of modern times, Barack Obama is by far

the greatest of all. Abagnale, who began his career at age 16, was obviously a master of deceit. Te’o, who appears to have been a willing participant in a massive hoax, is a young man who ap-pears to have gotten himself in way over his head. But for a man to undertake to convince at least half the American people, sup-posedly the best-informed people on the face of the Earth, that he is eligible to serve as president of the United States is a feat of breathtaking chutzpa.

I thought it would be most appropriate to publish this column on April 1st, April Fools Day, but then it occurred to me that, where Barack Obama is concerned, ev-ery day is April Fools Day. When it comes time to make a movie of Obama’s life, they couldn’t do better than to borrow the title of the 2005 reality TV show, Who’s Your Daddy?

made it a crime to manufacture, posses or transfer semi-automatic weapons and large capacity am-munitions.

But even Baruth could not find the support in a Democratic controlled State Senate, where Republicans make up only 23 percent of the body.

Progressive gun advocates were out-raged and planned on taking the fight to town meetings across the state — in Vermont, town meetings have the sovereignty to pass local laws. One gun restriction advocate, Bob Williamson, said, “I’m pragmatic, and I’ve been at this long enough to know that I know it’s going to be a long haul.”

Williamson is originally from the suburbs of Chicago, where severely restrictive gun laws have led to more homicides than U.S. troop deaths in Afghanistan.

According to Valley News, Repub-lican State Sen. Joe Benning said during a lunch with Baruth that the Republicans were not going to sup-port the ban. Baruth replied that he “couldn’t find anyone in the Demo-crat caucus who would support his bill either.”

Democrats in Vermont recog-nized that, being a rural state; there wouldn’t be intense support for such a law. According to Valley News, State Sen. Dick McCormack (D-Bethel) stated, “[In] 23 years, he has never supported gun control in Vermont, and it’s because Vermont is a rural area and firearms are part of rural life.”

Some other Democrats acknowl-edged firearms weren’t the only way to kill someone. State Sen. Jane Kitchel (D-Dainsville) said, “I wish we could legislate against evil.” She also was opposed to the assault weapons ban.

Author Bill Kauffman wrote, “Ver-mont has long been a mixture of radical, conservative, and populism.” It’s very much ingrained into the state’s character, which has allowed it to remain true to its roots, despite going from solidly Republican to solidly Democrat. Vermonters who value their freedoms are not as threat-ened by any political party as they are by transplants from Chicago or New York who seek to impose the values and laws of the society they left on the new state they call home.

There Is A Differenceby Don O’Nesky

The Morning Bell.......The Heritage Foundation

Obama’s Promised Justice Eludes Benghazi TerroristsFour months ago, the president vowed to “bring to justice the kill-ers who attacked our people” in Benghazi. Only, the al-Qaida terror-ists are still at large and still killing Americans. While Obama plays detective and international lawyer, respecting Libyan “law,” some of the same terrorists who in Septem-ber torched the U.S. compound in Benghazi this month stormed a gas plant in Algeria. Their latest assault left three Americans dead, adding to the deaths of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans. Gross negligence cost the lives of Stevens and the former Navy SEALs who tried to save him. Foot-drag-ging and a reversion to the pre-9/11 mindset of fighting terrorism as if it were a common crime may have cost the lives of the energy workers from Houston.

On Sept. 12, a tough-talking Obama promised the country in a pre-elec-tion photo op that he would hunt down the ambassador’s killers. Since then, what has he done to avenge the worst al-Qaida act of terrorism on U.S. ground since 9/11? Rede-ployed drones armed with Hellfire missiles from the Afghan-Pakistani border? Dispatched Black Hawks and special ops teams? Nope. He’s done neither of these things. Ac-cording to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, our commander in chief has been building legal “cases” against the terrorists, respecting imaginary rights to due process, as if they were bank robbers and not enemy combat-ants in an ongoing war on terrorism. Consider the following exchange between Clinton and Sen. John Bar-rasso, R-Wis., during the secretary’s testimony last week before the Sen-ate, one that got lost in all the chaff Clinton fired off to distract from her own role in the Benghazi scandal.

Barrasso: The people that perpe-trated the recent attacks in Algeria — were they perhaps emboldened because no one has yet paid a pen-alty for the attack on our facility in Benghazi? How can we make sure that people are actually brought to justice there?

Clinton: (The FBI) are following some very promising leads and put-ting together cases ... . What they are trying to determine is how best to respond, and I think what the presi-dent clearly said is we will respond and we will bring those to justice. And I don’t think anybody should doubt this president at his word ... . It may take time, but he does not in any way divert attention from the goal of bringing them to justice.”

Only, there are no promising leads, and the one suspect the FBI has iden-tified — Ali Ani al-Harzi — recently was released by Tunisian officials after he fled Libya. The Tunisians never even gave us a heads-up. That’s what happens when you defer “justice” against Islamist terrorists to Islamist authorities. That’s what happens when you decide to make a terrorist probe a criminal investiga-tion.

When you rely on U.S. detectives to make arrests in a Muslim country instead of using soldiers to kill enemy soldiers in a war, you get no justice. You don’t build “a case” against ter-rorists, Mr. President. It’s not a legal issue. You forensically identify them, pursue them, kill them.Editorial, Investor’s Business DailyJanuary 29, 2013

Scholars Agree: High Tax Rates Do Harm GrowthThe Congressional Research Service (CRS) stirred controversy last year when it released a study claiming that tax rates do not influence economic growth. Predictably, those who favor higher taxes used the flimsy report to bolster their backward argument that raising tax rates, as Congress and President Obama did with the fiscal cliff deal, would not further slow our economy. The CRS report was not based on robust statistical analysis, but on simple correlations that reveal little about the impact of tax rates on

the economy. The weakness of the CRS report brought well-deserved criticism. CRS pulled the report after the controversy but subsequently re-released it with minor changes.

In December, in response to the controversy regarding the CRS re-port, William McBride of the Tax Foundation published a review of the scholarly literature on taxation and economic growth. McBride reported that the empirical work of economists agrees overwhelmingly that higher tax rates slow economic growth and he concludes that “the U.S. tax sys-tem is a drag on the economy.”

Their findings are no surprise. It has long been known that higher tax rates slow the economy because they reduce the incentives to work, invest, and take new risks. These academic studies succeed in confirming this because, unlike the CRS report, they conducted rigorous statistical analysis to isolate the impacts of tax rates on many economies during many different time periods. Sur-veying 26 scholarly studies dating from 1983, McBride finds that 23 of the studies—and every study in the past fifteen years—corroborated the finding that higher taxes negatively affected growth.

For example, Young Lee of Hanyang University and Roger Gordon of the University of California at San Diego in a 2005 Journal of Public Econom-ics paper estimate that cutting the corporate tax rate by 10 percentage points would induce one to two per-centage points higher growth every year. Moreover, in a forthcoming paper in the American Economic Review, Karel Mertens of Cornell University and Morten Ravn of University College London find that cutting the personal income tax rate by one percentage point would cause per capita gross domestic product (GDP) to increase by 1.8 percent in the first nine months.

Taxes do not all have the same eco-nomic effects: Some taxes create more distortions in markets and the economy than others. McBride notes: “[C]orporate and personal income taxes are the most damaging to eco-nomic growth, followed by consump-tion taxes and property taxes…. Our current economic doldrums are the result of many factors, but having the highest corporate rate in the industri-alized world does not help.”

The hard data and econometric analyses highlighted by McBride underscore an important policy les-son: increasing taxes, both personal and corporate income tax rates, will impede the growth of the U.S. economy.Rudy Takala & Salim Furth [Ph.D.], The Heritage FoundationJanuary 27, 2013

How President Obama Lost His Shirt To John BoehnerThe House, under the leadership of Speaker John Boehner, has precipi-tated a postponement in the debt ceil-ing fight until May. This represents a strategic choice by Boehner to make the Sequester fight, not the debt ceil-ing fight, the next major engagement. Much of the mainstream media now is accusing Congress of “kicking the can down the road.” They are missing the strategic implications.

In retrospect, at the Battle at Fiscal Cliff, Boehner took President Obama to the cleaners. He did it suavely, with-out histrionics. While Obama churl-ishly, and in a politically amateurish manner, publicly strutted about having forced the Republicans to raise tax rates on “the wealthiest Americans” Boehner, quietly, was pocketing his winnings.

Dazzled by Obama’s Ozymandias-scale sneer most liberals failed to notice that Boehner quietly made 99% of the Bush tax cuts permanent. As Boehner himself dryly observed, in aninterview with The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board member Steve Moore, “”Who would have ever guessed that we could make 99% of the Bush tax cuts permanent? When we had a Republican House and Sen-ate and a Republican in the White

House, we couldn’t get that. And so, not bad.’”

“Not bad” is a resounding understate-ment. Dealt a weak hand, Boehner managed to 99% outfox, on tax policy, a president who had the massive ap-paratus of the executive branch, the Senate majority, and a left-leaning national elite media whooping it up for a whopping tax increase. Even more impressively, Boehner pulled it off with steady nerves while under heavy pressure from the anti-spending hawks in his own caucus.

Boehner, deftly, also dramatically raised the threshold, on which Obama had campaigned, at which the modest 3.6% rate increase kicked in. Yet his biggest win may have been in making the Alternative Minimum Tax patch permanent. This changes the baseline with profoundly positive implications for future tax reform and economic growth.

Boehner thereby won a triple jackpot, a bonanza for conservatives and sup-ply-siders … while Obama, giving up all that for a trivial symbolic victory, lost his Progressive shirt...

Boehner, last week, again bested Obama by pushing the debt ceiling fight back to May. This is a double whammy by Boehner. According to specialists, by structuring the law to allow new borrowing only to the extent of obligations “outstanding on May 19, 2013, exceeds the face amount of such obligations outstanding on the date of the enactment of this Act” Boehner ef-fectively instituted a spending freeze. This, in the face of Obama’s relentless demand for even more spending, is a victory for anti-profligacy hawks.

There’s a much bigger whammy em-bedded. Pushing the debt ceiling fight back to May, as the New York Times put it, “re-sequenced” the fight. Re-sequencing was not an idle gesture. It was a major tactical win by the House... The Democrats, apparently, still don’t know what Boehner has hit them with. Thanks to the Sequester anti-profligacy conservatives now negotiate from strength. What are the implications of putting the Sequester fight before the debt ceiling fight? Steve Moore:

“The Republicans’ stronger card, Mr. Boehner believes, will be the automat-ic spending sequester trigger that trims all discretionary programs—defense and domestic. It now appears that the president made a severe political mis-calculation when he came up with the sequester idea in 2011. “As Mr. Boeh-ner tells the story: Mr. Obama was sure Republicans would call for ending the sequester—the other ‘cliff’—because it included deep defense cuts. But Republicans never raised the issue. ‘It wasn’t until literally last week [columnist’s note: just before the dead-line] that the White House brought up replacing the sequester,’ Mr. Boehner says. ‘They said, ‘We can’t have the sequester.’ They were always counting on us to bring this to the table.”

“Mr. Boehner says he has significant Republican support, including GOP defense hawks, on his side for letting the sequester do its work... Will the support of the defense hawks hold? It appears Boehner’s not bluffing... It now should be clear to every Tea Party Patriot that Boehner is acting with integrity, with acute political sophistication, as an authentic con-servative serious about reducing the debt by reducing spending. His claim, to Moore, that “he has significant Republican support, including GOP defense hawks …

Boehner, having shrewdly identified the conservatives’ point of maximum leverage, appears poised for an historic victory. Boehner may prove himself to be the guy big enough and smart enough finally to engineer something that eluded even the great Reagan: pushing federal spending onto a down-ward trajectory.

If Boehner succeeds in closing the deal as he, with a critical assist from Senate Minority Leader McConnell, seems about to do he will go down in history as having brought about “the moment when the rise of the oceans (of debt) began to slow” … and our republic “began to heal.” If so John Boehner will deserve to be more than

Many looked at the results on Elec-tion Day and saw disaster. At The Heritage Foundation, however, we see opportunity. Americans are asking: “What do conservatives stand for?” This is the opportunity to tell them.

There are important lessons to be learned from the recent election and the current trends in American politics, for sure. But we believe this is precisely the time to reaffirm the principles that guide us and to redouble our efforts to change America’s course.

That’s why, after careful consider-ation of the political landscape in Washington and nationwide, we’re pursuing bold reforms that meet the demands of the moment and address the magnitude of the challenges before us. But at the same time, we are laying out a compelling vision of a prosperous and secure nation, where the American Dream is within everyone’s reach.

And we’re going to take our argu-ments to all Americans:

Middle-class families struggling in a bad economy. Young people worried about their future prospects. Those stuck in poverty, reaching for the ladder of opportunity. Entrepreneurs and job creators seek-ing to expand prosperity. Yes, there are negative indicators. Too many Americans are either out of work or have altogether given up on looking for a job. Overall com-pensation has been flat over recent years. College graduates are moving back in with their parents as jobs fail to materialize.

High taxes and the crushing weight of endless rules and regulations burden our economy. The fed-eral government operates beyond its proper bounds yet neglects its core responsibilities. Uncontrolled spending and a surging debt are driving America into bankruptcy.

Government in the last half century has expanded, centralized and bu-reaucratized to the point that it is now the chief barrier to creativity, innovation and economic growth.

However, we still see America as the land of opportunity. That’s because the American Dream directly grows out of the exceptional principles this country was founded upon.

That all are fundamentally equal and self-governing, and that the United States government is limited to core functions, means that we have the liberty and opportunity to live our lives, control our fate, and pursue our happiness. That each has a right to the rewards of his own labor - the promise that you can keep what you earn and that what you save and acquire is your property - creates a dynamic society in which every member can work hard, pursue op-portunity, and advance in life to the

benefit of all.

Indeed, the monumental achieve-ment of this great country is that it makes comfort and general afflu-ence, safety and security, self-gov-ernment and the blessings of liberty - all traditionally the province of the privileged few - available to everyone.

Based on the principles proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence and guaranteed by the Constitution, generations of Americans have cre-ated a nation unlike any other in his-tory. Our economy produces almost a quarter of the world’s wealth, and our military forces are the most pow-erful on the globe. The institutions of civil society - families, religious communities, and private associa-tions - thrive in America, forming an independent people who are among the most hard-working, generous, and forward-looking in the world.

It is the potent combination of political liberty under the rule of law, the endless creativity of the marketplace, and the enduring moral character of the American people that assures opportunity for all and fuels the unlimited promise of America.

Yes, the federal government is bloated and vastly overextended. Yes, we are wrapped in its end-less rules and regulations. Yes, a seemingly limitless welfare state is taking a toll on our finances and on our economy, even as it ensnares an ever-larger share of the population into dependency.

But because this trajectory is un-sustainable, we know it can and must change. That is the basis for our major new project, America’s Opportunity for All.

We can reduce the size and scope of government and restore economic productivity. We can reform the core programs of government to provide assistance to the deserving and a way out for those who fall on hard times.

All this is possible if we make a concerted effort to change Ameri-ca’s course, making clear the dire problems we face, building a con-sensus in favor of a new direction, and advancing a forward-looking reform agenda to strengthen free enterprise and eliminate cronyism, fire up the engines of opportunity and upward mobility, provide for our nation’s defense, champion liberty, and rebuild constitutional self-government.

For the next four days, the Morning Bell will cover Heritage’s detailed plan to revitalize America.

a Republican, conservative, and tea party, hero. He will go up in popular esteem, and down in history, as the master who staunched Washington’s hemorrhaging of America’s wealth.

Official LiesLet’s expose presidential prevari-cation. Earlier this year, President Barack Obama warned that Social Security checks will be delayed if Congress fails to increase the govern-ment’s borrowing authority by rais-ing the debt ceiling. However, there’s an issue with this warning. According to the 2012 Social Security trustees report, assets in Social Security’s trust funds totaled $2.7 trillion, and Social Security expenditures totaled $773 billion. Therefore, regardless of what Congress does about the debt limit, Social Security recipients are guaranteed their checks. Just take the money from the $2.7 trillion assets held in trust.

Which is the lie, Social Security checks must be delayed if the debt ceiling is not raised or there’s $2.7 trillion in the Social Security trust funds? The fact of the matter is

that they are both lies. The Social Security trust funds contain nothing more than IOUs, bonds that have absolutely no market value. In other words, they are worthless bookkeep-ing entries. Social Security is a pay-as-you-go system, meaning that the taxes paid by today’s workers are immediately sent out as payment to today’s retirees. Social Security is just another federal program funded out of general revenues...

How long can Congress take in $200 billion in revenue per month and spend $360 billion per month? That means roughly 40 cents of every fed-eral dollar spent has to be borrowed. The undeniable fact of business is that a greater number of people are living off government welfare pro-grams than are paying taxes. That’s what’s driving Europe’s economic problems, and it’s what’s driving ours. The true tragedy is that just to acknowledge that fact is political suicide, as presidential contender Mitt Romney found out. We can’t blame politicians. It’s the American people who will crucify a politician who even talks about cutting their favorite handout.Walter E. Williams, Nationally Syn-dicated Columnist,January 30, 2013

in June by raising concern about Muslim Brotherhood infiltration in the nation’s capital.

The Egypt-based Muslim Brother-hood was formed in the 1920s after the demise of the Ottoman Turkish empire with the intent of helping establish Islamic rule worldwide. It’s stated goal for the U.S. is “a kind of grand jihad” aimed at “eliminating and destroying the Western civiliza-tion from within” so that “Allah’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

In 2009, the WND Books bestseller

“Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret World That’s Conspiring to Is-lamize America” featured a Council on American-Islamic Relations internal memo written in 2007 that called for infiltrating the “judiciary, intelligence and homeland security committees” by, among other things, “placing Muslim interns” in Capitol Hill offices.

The book also uncovered new evi-dence that CAIR, which was founded by Muslim Brotherhood members to portray Islam in a positive light in the U.S., directly funded Hamas and al-Qaida terrorist fronts.

By Bob Unruh

Politicians, pundits and private citizens have been sounding off on Barack Obama’s new push for gun bans, but what do the profes-sionals whose job it is to use guns in the pro-tection of their nation, their fel-low countrymen and themselves say?Watch out. An open letter has been posted on the Profes-sional Soldiers blog that has been signed as of this writing by more than 1,100 cur-rent and former U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers, the Green Berets. The soldiers say first it’s important to define the issue and set the record straight. “The terms ‘assault weapon’ and ‘assault rifle’ are often confused,” they say. “According to Bruce H. Kobayashi and Joseph E. Olson, writing in the Stanford Law and Policy Review, ‘Prior to 1989, the term ‘assault weapon’ did not exist in the lexicon of firearms. It is a political term, developed by anti-gun

publicists to expand the category of assaults rifles.’” The Green Berets, who use the

weapons, point out the M4A1 car-bine is a U.S. military service rifle – it is an assault rifle.” “The AR-15 is not an assault rifle. The M4A1

can fire up to 950 rounds per minute. In 1986, the federal government banned the import or manufacture of new fully automatic firearms for

sale to civilians. Therefore, the sale of assault rifles are already banned or heav-ily restricted!” Likewise, they say, a ban on “h igh-capac-ity” magazines would be irrel-evant, pointing to the shooting

by Eric Harris at Columbine High School as proof. The letter explains that when the first weapons ban was adopted in 1994, manufacturers retooled their products to meet the requirements of the law. “One of those ban-compliant fire-arms was the Hi-Point 995, which was sold with ten-round magazines. In 1999, five years into the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, the Colum-bine High School massacre oc-curred. One of the perpetrators, Eric Harris, was armed with a Hi-Point 995. steeled himself for the task of kill-ing, from a sniper’s vantage point: “You’re not trying to humanize that person. You’re not thinking about them or their family or anything else.”

“You know when I was in those situations, the only thing I’m thinking of is trying to stop them from the act of violence that they’re trying to commit on my guys, the allies, or the innocent civilians in those cities,” Kyle said.

Kyle, whom Iraqi insurgents nicknamed al-Shaitan (the devil), said the media is unable to capture the true horror of combat and the strain it puts on families of U.S. servicemen and servicewomen.

“Even though you have all this media embedded, it can’t cap-ture the raw emotions that these guys are feeling and they can’t even show all of the graphic details that guys are living day to day,” he said.

Consequently, most Ameri-cans have little understanding of war. “They think everyone who

comes home has problems and then they don’t even fully understand what goes on over there — how horrific war actually is,” said Kyle, who was planning to donate his share of the proceeds from the book to the families of slain military per-sonnel and to help veterans.

He said he missed “the guys” once he was no longer an active-duty Navy SEAL and described the closeness he felt as a kind of brotherhood.

“The guys are everything in the world to you. They become your number one family to you. You know their every move, their every thought and their actions,” he said.

Kyle also had noted that it took time for him to let his guard down after returning to the United States, and he said long deploy-ments typically increase stress on families.

“I’m trying to raise the aware-ness of the troops that, when they deploy and go to war, it’s not just them at war — it’s also their family.

Their family is having to go through all the hardships and the stresses,” said Kyle, who included writings from his wife in the book to high-light the contribution of families.

“You’re not just going out there, maybe sacrificing your own life,” he said. “There’s also sacri-fices still going on at home. You can serve in the military and have a good marriage, but you just need to be aware of it so you can take those steps to take care of it.”

Kyle was sued by former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura over a portion of the book that claims Kyle punched Ventura in a 2006 bar fight over unpatriotic remarks. Ventura insists that the punch never happened and that the claim by Kyle defamed him.

Kyle had asked that Ventura’s claims of invasion of privacy and “unjust enrichment” be dismissed, saying there was no legal basis for them. But a federal judge said the lawsuit should proceed. Both sides were told to be ready for trial by Aug. 1.

Obama’s Union-Controlled NLRB Thumbs Nose At Court Ruling, Chairman Vows To March Onward

Following Friday morning’s ap-peals court ruling that Barack Obama’s “recess” appointments to the National Labor Relations Board were unconstitutional, union attorney (and current NLRB chairman) Mark Gaston Pearce vowed to ignore the court’s ruling.

In a statement posted on the NLRB’s website, Pearce stated:

“The Board respectfully disagrees with today’s decision and believes that the President’s position in the matter will ulti-mately be upheld. It should be noted that this order applies to only one specific case, Noel Can-ning, and that similar questions have been raised in more than

a dozen cases pending in other courts of appeals. In the meantime, the Board has

important work to do. The par-ties who come to us seek and expect careful consideration and resolution of their cases, and for that reason, we will continue to perform our statutory duties and issue decisions.”

“The parties who come to us seek and expect careful consideration and resolution of their cases…”

Wait. What?!? Mr. Pearce must be re-ferring to union boss-es ‘expecting careful consideration’ with his statement, because he surely couldn’t mean employers expect care-ful consideration before the union-controlled NLRB. Heck, the vast majority

of employers already know they face not much more than a kanga-roo court with the NLRB.

That’s the reason so many em-ployers are having to appeal their cases to the circuit courts these days.

variety of opinions within the tea party movement itself, he minced no words when discussing his skepticism about the latest bill, saying, “It”s the wrong policy at the wrong time.” He said the plan – which is simi-lar to an outline proposed by the president, focuses too much away from the central problem of immi-gration, which is the enforcement of the nation’s existing immigra-tion laws. “Regardless of the new people involved, that does not change the bad policies herein,” he said. “It is my opinion we should have an enforcement first policy and that has sadly been lacking in both parties.” He continued, “Most Americans remain very skeptical about the government providing the man-power and money to enforce any of these provisions, but especially the security provisions… If cur-rent law is not being followed, what can assure us that any new laws can or will be enforced.” He also is skeptical about the Democrats, because he believes the policies are being pushed for a “long-term partisan advantage,” as a majority of immigrants, stud-ies show, vote Democrat. The conflict between Hayworth and McCain on the issue arose earlier. In 2010, Hayworth considered running against McCain for his

Senate seat, saying at the time in a Wall Street Journal article he held “a profound disagreement with Sen. John McCain over the concept of amnesty, whether he wants to call it comprehensive immigration reform or a pathway for guest workers to remain.” Hayworth also attacked the grow-ing Republican perception that the GOP needs to embrace am-nesty in order to win the Hispanic vote. He said that Republicans are following after the “myth of the monolith.” He said not all Hispanics are for amnesty and believing “that just because somebody has a Hispanic last name that they somehow will embrace amnesty, I think does them [the Republican Party] a great disservice.” Balkanization Niger Innis, the national outreach director with TeaParty.net, said there are other problems with the amnesty program idea. “It does not address assimilation, which is critical,” he said. He notes that this is one of Amer-ica’s crucial problems, because kids in cities are not being given a foundation in civics. “The irony is that those who go through immigration the correct way must go through a civics and American history examination,” he said.

But under the new plan, it’s not a requirement. He said that process is important to defeat the negative effects of “multiculturalism.” If America doesn’t “absorb these people and make them into Ameri-cans,” the U.S. soon will resemble France, where there are pockets where minorities control and other natives would not be welcome. With amnesty, he said, “You would see further Balkanization and a failure to assimilate new popula-tion in the millions.” Hayworth also noted the impact on the economy, as the plan would “not create new taxpayers. It would result in the influx of more money takers … more people who would be dependent on entitlements. This would not bolster our economy.” The fiscal issue is a concern, he said, citing the “multi-trillion dollar boondoggle that is Obam-acare.” He said the program builds new-comers into a national health care system, but, “What does that do to our fiscal future? This would create many more problems and threaten the survival of our Republic.” He said the basic conflict is that the tea party movement is “all about restoring constitutional principles and adhering to the Rule of Law.” “This proposal does neither,” he said.

by Art Moore

Major corporations that have do-nated to the Boy Scouts of America in recent years are largely remaining quiet ahead of the highly anticipated vote Wednesday on the organiza-tion’s policy on homosexuals, but some have made it clear their money will go only to groups that don’t discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. In 2010, the latest year for which figures are available, the top donors to the Scouts, listed in descending order according to amount, were Intel, Emerson, Verizon, 3M, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Pfizer, Valero, UPS, U.S. Bank, Eli Lilly and Co., GE, Monsanto, Medtronic, PNC, Nationwide, Abbott, General Mills, Alcoa, Caterpillar, Illinois Tool Works, Allstate and Dow Chemical. As WND reported last week, a major drop in corporate funding came last September after a gay-rights blogger for the Huffington Post published a collaborative report that named the donors and chastised them for violating their own policy of not discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation. Since the September report, Intel, UPS and Merck are among the cor-porations that have declared they have stopping funding the BSA. The homosexual-rights group Scout-ing for All lists some of the corpora-tions that have refused to fund the BSA’s national organization. They include IBM, Levi Strauss and Com-pany, J.P. Morgan, American Air-

lines, Medtronic, Portland General Gas and Electric, Hewlett Packard, Textron, Fleet Bank, CVS/Pharmacy Stores and Carrier Corp. At the time of the September report, shipping giant UPS, which gave $167,000 to the Scouts in 2010, insisted the “gay” policy would not impact its donations. But after a petition drive that month by another homosexual-rights group, Scouts for Equality, UPS changed its mind. Scouts for Equality now lists UPS, Merck and Intel as corporate spon-sors. Among the public figures who support the group’s aims, along with President Obama, are 2012 Repub-lican presidential nominee Gov. Mitt Romney and Washington state Republican gubernatorial nominee Rob McKenna.

Scouting for All also has a list of companies that donate to national or local Boy Scout councils and/or having a matching gifts program for employees who donate to the Scouts. But the list is not up-to-date, as it includes UPS. Scouting for All urges supporters to boycott the listed companies. UPS spokeswoman Kristen A. Petrella, the international public relations manager, told WND Mon-day that UPS had no comment in response to questions about how the vote by the Scouts executive board Wednesday might affect the corporation’s position toward the BSA.

We never heard another men-tion of Obama’s “civilian national security force” again. Not in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 or 2012. But that brings us up to 2013 and the highly unusual stock-piling of firearms and ammo by Homeland Security – fire-arms and ammo that Obama would like to deny to ordinary citizens who are not members of his domestic army. Well, I hate to say it, but I may have predicted this, too. In a Halloween column last fall, I stated that, if re-elected, Obama would “declare a full-scale war on his domestic opposition.” I wasn’t joking. I was deadly serious – so serious, in fact, that I did something I pledged I would never do: Vote for Mitt Romney. It was a matter of self-defense and self-pres-ervation. I said then that a second term of Obama might mean we would never see another free and fair election in America. (I’m not even sure we saw one in 2012.) I sug-gested due process would go the way of the horse and bug-gy. I said I expected Obama would move to shut down or destroy all independent media. I even speculated that his big-gest critics would eventually be rounded up in the name of national security. Think about it.

Why does the civilian Depart-ment of Homeland Security need billions of rounds of am-munition? This is the agency that is responsible for policing the border. But it doesn’t. This is the agency that is responsible for catching ter-rorists. But it doesn’t. So why does Homeland Se-curity need so many weap-ons and enough hollow-point rounds to plug every American six times? Maybe this is the “civilian na-tional security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as the Defense Department. These words – “civilian na-tional security force” – have haunted me ever since I first read them. Obama has never explained what he meant. He’s never been called to ac-count for that remark. Doesn’t this sound like police-state talk to you? The U.S. Army alone has nearly 500,000 troops. That doesn’t count reserves or Na-tional Guard. In 2007, the U.S. defense budget was $439 bil-lion. No one knows what the budget is today because Con-gress stopped passing budgets when Obama took office.

Is Obama serious about cre-ating some kind of domes-tic security force bigger and more expensive than that? Is this part of his second-term agenda? He has also set up, as I have reported, a new homeland se-curity bureaucracy to operate under his own direction. I think it’s worth recalling here that just over a year ago both houses of Congress unwisely passed the defense reauthoriza-tion bill that killed the concept of habeas corpus – legislation that authorized the president to use the U.S. military to arrest and indefinitely detain American citizens without charge or trial. That legislation would em-power a lame-duck Obama to use all of the power of the federal government – constitu-tional and unconstitutional – to target his political enemies. If any Republican, conserva-tive, independent journalist, pro-life activist, returning vet-eran, gun-rights activist, con-stitutionalist, Bible believer or critic of Obama thinks they will be safe in a second term under this would-be despot, they had better think again – real fast. The “civilian national security force” is not here to protect any of them. It’s here to de-stroy the opposition. It’s here to destroy liberty. It’s here to destroy the Constitution.

Langley – In January, the Grand River Dam Author-ity and several lake-are businesses announced they would team up for a compre-hensive Grand Lake shore-line cleanup effort ahead of the Bassmaster Classic (on Grand Lake February 22-24). Today, they are en-couraging the public to join the team.

According t o o r g a -nizers, the main goal of the extend-ed cleanup effort is to remove old dock from t h e l a k e shore before the national s p o t l i g h t shines on Grand dur-ing the fishing tournament. Several dock builders around the lake are already putting their construction barges to work to move old foam from the shoreline to collection sites. Other businesses are participating in the effort by providing locations for the public to dispose of old foam.

Those interested in collect-ing and disposing of old foam (please no household trash), can deliver it to the following collections sites beginning this week (Feb-ruary 6 - 10) and the hours 8AM to 5PM:

· Discount Docks (back of Duck Creek, near Grand Lake RV Resort, Cleora)

“Working with all our part-ners, we were able to divide the lake shore into 7 differ-ent zones,” said GRDA Lake Relations Coordinator Lori Starks. “The partners then set up teams to take respon-sibility for targeted areas in each zone. It’s a large endeavor but we have a large group that is committed to getting the job done.”

Once the foam is collected, GRDA will use its equipment to transport it to Covanta’s energy-from-waste facility (Covanta Tulsa Renewable Energy, LLC) in Tulsa. The facility has the capability to handle over 1,100 tons of

refuse a day and offers the latest technology in waste disposal by extracting en-ergy from waste, like the old foam.

“Recycling this foam is good for the environment and turning it into energy is another plus,” said Starks. “We’re pleased this can all

grow out of a concen-trated effort of so many lake a rea stakehold-ers,” said Starks.

Even if you are not in a position to adopt a pet, or you might already have an animal, or perhaps you can’t have one where you live, there are plenty of other ways you can help the dogs and cats at the Humane Society of Grove and Grand Lake. Check out these eight ways to lend a hand and make a difference in the lives of homeless animals. 1. Walking Dogs - Many of our shelter dogs would not see the light of day without dog walking volunteers. Call the Grove Hu-mane Society at 981-786-7630 to investigate the available times for walking. Want to do one better? Then incorporate some training time into your walks. Teaching shelter dogs a few new tricks will be invaluable for their ability to get adopted and make a smooth transition to their new home. Be-yond walking on a leash calmly, you can teach them to sit, stay, and shake a paw. 2. Play with Cats - Just like our dogs need walks, our cats need attention too. In the case of our felines, volunteers are needed to socialize them with other cats and humans so they learn to be affectionate, sweet and playful - the kind of pet adopters are looking for. 3. Fostering Cats and Dogs - Volunteers are needed to foster some of our animals for a variety of reasons. Foster homes are needed to care for pregnant dogs or cats, puppies or kittens under a certain age, animals that may be recovering from an injury or illness, or others that may have behavioral issues that would be best remedied in a home environ-ment. While fostering can be a bigger time commitment lasting from a few days to a few weeks, you can really make a difference in that foster animal’s life. 4. Donating money - If you don’t have a lot of time to volunteer, helping us can be as easy as writ-ing a check. Become a member and help us continue our efforts to provide care and a safe envi-ronment - our 2013 Membership Drive is in progress now. One

can make a convenient monthly gift by becoming a Guardian Angel, or make a Memorial or Honorarium donation to celebrate the special people or animals in your life. Mail your check to P.O. Box 451205, Grove, OK 74345, or donate online using PayPal via website www.hu-manesocietyofgrove.com. For easy and convenient monthly automated payments, download the ACH Authorization Agree-ment for payments to be made from your Financial Institution. Also consider Estate Planned Giving by naming the Humane Society of Grove and Grand Lake as a beneficiary in your will or consult with your financial or legal advisor for a more complex trust arrangement. Please know that the Grove Humane Society is a non-profit animal rescue shelter that is not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States, the ASPCA, or any other animal rescue organization. 5. Offering Special Skills - If you are a lawyer, accountant, writer, web designer, good with office organization, or posses another special talent, then chances are we could use your skills. In-terested in meeting new people? Then consider helping with retail sales at the Second Chance Thrift Shop located in downtown Grove, OK, which is entirely staffed by volunteers who love animals and want to give their time to help the

animals in our shelter. 6. Cleaning - Willing to get your hands dirty? Then ask the shelter manager if you can help out by bathing pups, and cleaning cages, or doing laundry. 7. Helping with Adoption Events - The best thing for our animals is to get them adopted quickly. So helping with remote adoption events is needed. Opportunities range from organizing events to helping dogs look their best. 8. Things we Need - Running a shelter is an expensive endeavor. While animals are in our care, they receive the needed medical attention, sound nutrition, and a clean, safe environment--all of which require supplies. And you may be able to provide us with these supplies. Visit our website and click on “Wish List” of the things we need. Anything you can provide will be greatly ap-preciated. And please donate your recyclable aluminum cans and newsprint for our shelter.
