In Switzerland any SIP provider has to register to BAKOM (Swiss federal authority for communication).

Important commitments:• User gets a public phone number.• Number portability has to be

guarantied.• Phone service is independent to

the internet service. • Emergency calls are supported.

Phone number: Customers receive a public phone number, with this a non-restricted connection link is possible. Number portability: Customers can take their fix net number over to a SIP provider and back. As long as an internet connection is available, a customer is free to choose a VoIP provider her/himself. Emergency calls: Because the identification of the actual location is not guaranteed, this is always reflected to the contractual agreed main location.

Preconditions for a SIP account

Login data from your SIP provider.• Here an example with provider “Sipcall”:• SIP-Registrar: free2.voipgateway.org• SIP-Proxy: free2.voipgateway.org• User id: 4132510xxxx own No.: 032 510 xxxx• VoIP password: *******

These data has to be entered into a SIP client. In our case the Aastra CS is working as a SIP client together with the SIP provider (here “Sipcall”).

Number of B channels in the route

Per default the numberof channels is similarlike a PRI (30 B channels)

Check if sufficient bandwidth is available for all those channels. Some providers have a limitation for simultaneous connections.Adapt these setting to the actual situation.
