#1 T/F- Protein is the most important
nutrient for people who lift weights?
False. Carbs, Protein, and Fats are equally
important. The source and quantity is the
key. Carbs are fuel! Good v bad source of
carb? Protein to rebuild muscle. The body
can only absorb about 30 g/protein per
hour. Fat for fat soluble vitamins and
brain/CNS health. Eating fat does not
make you overweight. Overeating does!
#2 T/F It is very important to eat some
form of carbohydrate and protein within
90 minutes after a workout?
False. 30-45 minutes! If there is
only 1 thing you learn and apply
from this info it is this fact. Some
students have 2 PEs and a sport.
For optimal performance and injury
prevention you must have adequate
calories. i.e. B5 to sport.
#3 T/F Chocolate Milk is a good snack
or recovery food?
True. What qualifies a
snack/recovery food as good? Mix
of carb and protein. It is
CONVENIENT. So that you will have
eat it. PLAN/PREPARE
AHEAD…NIGHT BEFORE. Use the
list and talk with parents about it.

Nutrition Manual.
