Czech Republic

September and October 2016

We organised the trip to Romania for 3 students and two teachers

Project was presented at whole school assembly 3 times, always with

different focus

We organised the transnational meeting in Ostrava, all 8 countries

participated, the meeting was at the beginning of November but the work for it was done in October

We started to plan ecological project-environmental competition for different

schools in the region.

CONSERVATION” whose task is to preserve and protect the dolphins hosted in the Gulf of Taranto in the Ionian Sea.

“Profumatamente”

The project has had the aim to lead the students in the preparation of both cosmetic EcoBio products and eco-friendly products for the environment; they have followed varios processing stages: from formulation to production, from the microbiological tests to packaging and marketing.

Lithuania

Primary class. Lesson was in the school park. Students said the names of the trees and bushes, why trees are very useful for people, why people should plant more trees.

Biology lesson. Students talked about forest. What kind of plants grow here, why forest important for us. Students prepared presentations about plants in the forest.

Integrated English – Biology lesson „Pasport of the tree“. Students had to

decide about tree„s age, hight, tipe and other features.

Non formal activity“Day without a car“. Students took part in the action

„Day without a car“. They came to school by bike or on foot. If it was

possible, students asked their parents and friends to do the same.

Non formal activity „In the museum“. Students were told about birds and animals thet live in our district. Photographer told why we have to take care about animal and birds and what kinds of them are extinct.

Biology lesson. 4th October – World Animal Day. That day students met naturalist who told about this day and the importance of animals. Students watched the film about pets, how to take care about pets.

Lesson “Save trees”. Students of the 2nd class spend time in the school park

because they wanted to know more about trees and to research them.

Non formal activity: Visit to farm. The owner of the farm told more about animals and birds, how they feel people‟s emotions and why we should love

them.

Exhibition “Herbs from our forests and meadows”. Students discussed about places where people can pick herbs and why it is important to take care about our environment.

Art and crafts lesson “Autumn is a harvest time”

Research. Science lesson. Students talked about water and air pollution. They did research with water and washing liquid because they wanted to know how we change the quality of water when we use washing liquid.

Art lesson” Painting on a stone”. During this lesson students understood that

can paint not only on paper but they can do it on a stone too. So, they don‟t

need paper and save some trees.

Poland

SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER

Presented the project at school level for new students, teachers, parents - description, aim, objectives, activietis, mobilities, etc.

Formed a new school team - work and distributed tasks for second year.

Arranged the new “ERASMUS+ CORNER” – for information about partners, posters, news, souvenirs, exhibitions, etc.

XXIII Olimpic race - this is a nationwide sports event, which this year was attended by 2,500 people from Poland, and from our school 36 students and 3 teachers.

Sweden

AUGUST Eva-Maria and Anna-Karin presents Kahoot, Thinglink and many more

useful IT stuff to the teachers in NA and EE.

The new school year has already began for the students in Sweden. The students from the electrical and energy stream, secnd years begin their Science course by working in the ecology lab and studying the planktons from the neighbouring lake Sidsjö.

EE15 participate in one of the mass phonological research “Höstförsöket

2016”, conducted by SLU (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences)

Uppsala.

Meetings before trip to Romania took place.

Teachers (4) and students (7) participated in the exhibition of “The cube”

(Human rights) in Stockholm. On the “Raoul Wallenberg day” one student

had a speech and another was singing for 400 VIP-guests.

SEPTEMBER

Forest school and sustainability of the natural environment are a part of education in Sundsvalls gymnasium . Here are a few pictures from today‟s

activities.

While Jonathan Antonic, Jesper Höglund EE15 and Joakim Lundqvist NA15 went to participate in the transnational meeting in Romania, the students from EE15, are out in the sunshine studying the lake and forest ecosystems.

Eva-Maria pays it forward by giving the English teachers in Sundsvalls gymnasium a glimpse of the IT programs (Padlet, Plotagon and Storybird) from Lithuania, that can be used in teaching.

The students of the Natural Science year one went on a day of excursion in the forest. The ecological training is about different species, the nitrogens role in the ecosystem, logging, the forests succesion order, different soil etc.

The students of the Natural Science year two went on a day of excursion to a lake (Sidsjön). The ecological training is about the condition of the lake (pH, plankton, conductivity, alkalinity, transparency of the water, species in the lake) and plants and animals around the lake.

All students at the Natural science program were divided in to smaller groups and discussed the global goals. They were given a task to prioritize their three most important (of their oppinion).

The ship “Tre Kronor af Stockholm”, sailing for the awareness of Sustainable

Seas in the Gulf of Bothnia, sailed through the harbour of Sundsvall between 17th – 19th September. The students of the Natural Science and the Electrical and Energy program took the opportunity and participated in a seminar, exhibition on Sustainable seas and also had a tour around the beautiful ship deck.

OCTOBER

Intergrating English as a second language with ESD has becone a part of

EE16 students‟ everyday life. Their latest assignment was to prepare a presentation on any topic related to any one of the 17 goals and if possible to be related to their education/chosen specialisation area/ societal issues local or global.

Even the course curriculum for English 7 was integrated to ESD where the students from the Technology steam in Sundsvalls gymnasium presented local and global problems, on the 1st day of Global Sundsvall week. Eating insects can be a solution to Zero hunger.

Global Sundsvall, Day 1: Students from the Natural science program (90) participated in lecture by Jonathan Lundqvist from “Reporters without

borders” about world press freedom and the freedom of spech.

Global Sundsvall, Day 2: EE15, EE15, NA15 and NA16 participated on a seminar on the advantages of investing on clean energy, especially Solar energy by Lars Andrén.

Global Sundsvall, day 3: The students of the Natural science program year 1 nd 2 (NA16 and NA15) participated in a workshop hosted by Sundsvalls kommun with “value-learning”. The students were given taskts to find out how we can “Think global – act local” and togheter find idéas to concretize

the global goals in Sundsvall.

The students from EE16, NA16, NA15, NA14 watched Naomi Klein's documentary on climate change “This changes everything” at Flimstaden.

Two students from NA14 participated on a panel-discussion with local politicans at the Unga magasinet.

Global Sundsvall, Day 4: Follow-up from yesterday. The studens were given excercises to discuss in smaller groups.

The students from the Natural science program went to a theater/musical called “the difficulty of negotiating with a blue whale”, a creative way to lift

the environmental issue.

The students from the Natural science program participated in a lecture by Joachim Beijmo (chief of staff at SIDA) that was about the poverty in the

world and how we can create better conditions to help humans to get out of poverty and oppression.

A morning of "thinking global and acting local" with Jussara Reis Andersson Jussara Reis Andersson and Caro . Students from EE15 worked with the possibilities of achieving and maintaining a sustainable society by pitching ideas on a local level. Some beautiful ideas came up during the workshop. In the meantime, the students in EE16 went to see a theatre on Sustainable development staged by the students in Hedbergska school.

The students from year one and two at the Natural science program listened to Staffan Landins lecture “Is the world getting better?”. With help from

Gapminder and statistic he gives a positive message!

Global Sundsvall, Day 5: Students from the Natural science program (90)

participated in a photoexhibition called “100 times the difference” by Moa

Karlberg. The photografer has taken pictures with the theme “maternal

mortality” from childbirthing in Sweden and Tanzania.

The students in NA14 went to a lecture by the entrepreneur Felicia Nargineanu who gave idéas, inspiration and experience of how you can affect the world positive and run a business.

All staff at Västermalm attended to a lecture from Expo contending education about extremism and human rights. This were followed up later with discussions in smaller groups.

Carina Lundin (teacher) went to Stockholm to a information-meeting about cooperation within the EU, agenda 2030.

Unicef visited NA16 to pay attention to the UN-day, CNC and the global goals. The students created documents about CNC that will be passed forward to goverments.

Except all this we also have had the daily based education with the students in NA15 in the sustainability course.

ROMANIA

September 2016 Between 26th and 30th of September.2016, two teaching-learning formative activities took place, within the Erasmus Strategic Partnership – “ACTIVE

CITIZENSHIP AND ECOLOGICAL AWARENESS THROUGH FORMAL AND NON-FORMAL EDUCATION”(ACEAFNE): -Short-term exchanges between groups of pupils - for the pupils. -Joint short-term training activities – for the teachers. The project unites schools from Sweden, England, Poland, Lithuania, Portugal, Czech Republic and Romania and is coordinated by „‟Ienachita Vacarescu‟‟

National College from Targoviste, Romania. 19 pupils and 12 teachers from the partner countries and 16 pupils from the host school. The activities of the week were: 1) The opening ceremony(teachers and pupils) 2) The presentation of the school, (teachers and pupils)

3) Spare time: A visit to The Royal Court and Chindia Tower, guided by the pupils from the theatre group of our school, wearing costumes of the time.

4) Guided Thematic trip – Bucegi Nature Park, (teachers and pupils) - The representatives of the Administration of Bucegi Nature Park presented an outline of the park, its geographic position, flora, wildlife. They presented the Belvedere Plateau, Bolboci Dam and the Nature Reserve Laptici Peatery, which contains many unique species. - Visiting the best-known and most important cave of Romania: Peştera Ialomiţei or Peştera Regilor. Its importance lies in the historical, archeological, mithological, geographical resources of Ancient World. - Visiting Bucegi Plateau – a presentation of natural monuments, Sfinxul and Babele

5)The teachers participated in: • A meeting with the representatives of the Environmental Authority. Many nature reserves of the county were presented • Exchange of good practices. A non-formal activity ‚‟The living Library‟‟,

to raise awareness of the environmental issues of the region, delivered by teacher Marcu Madalina • A formal activity – Biology – ‟A study of Various Habitats‟, delivered by

A formal activity in English – “Understanding Sustainable Living”- ( teacher Gheorghian Anca) - An activity where every school presented a national parkin their country, with animals on the brink of extinction. The aspects presented by the 8 countries were compared. - General Knowledge Quiz in Kahoot (teaching aid presented in Lituania). Every school presented such a quiz. The winners were offered T-shirts with the logo of the project. - IT formal activity: Creating posters of the six targets, in Canva (teaching aid presented in Lituania). A display of the products was placed in our school.(teacher Vlad Cătălina and

8)During the week the pupils applied questionnaires about the environment and made measurements of the leve visited l of noisein different points of Targoviste and Ploiesti. 9) The pupils participated in the presentation, centralisation of the results of the applied questionnaires and of the study of the level of noise. There were discussions among the participants.

10) The pulpils and teachers visited the Bucsani Bison Farm which contains 40 bison( a species on the brink of extinction, protected by law) The history of this place was presented, as well as various information about this species.

12) Handing in the certificates. October The pupils who won the mobilities in Italy have revised their environmental projects following their participation in the project writing training and started implementing them. Between October and December, two projects will be implemented:

“Indoor pollution- an unseen enemy!” “Electromagnetic pollution and its effect on people” October coincides with the preparation of the implementation activities: - Presentation to the pupils of our school( Pupils‟ Council) - Getting into contact with new institution in view of collaboration: The County hospital, The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology - establishing target groups - contacting collaborating professors. - implementing an advertisement for the RADIO activity - implementing campaign leaflets - printing umbrellas and campaign T-shirts - Metting a specialist of The Red Cross, where the students have been informed about the iminent hazards of domestic pollution.

- Visit to The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, ( the pupils have been informed about the negative effects of electro-magnetic pollutionon our body and ways of preventing it).
