ल मी इं ट यूट ऑफ टे नोलॉजी, सार गाम, वलसाड, गुजरात म 10 मई 2016 को

भारतीय नािभक य ऊजा काय म, व करण – जीवन क एक वा त वकता और ड एई-सोसाइट के लाभ पर एक संगो ठ आयो जत क गई थी। इस संगो ठ को आयो जत करने का ल य था नािभक य ऊजा के संर त, आिथक, पयावरण हतैषी एवं व ुत ऊजा के द घकालीन ोत होने के ित व ाथ समुदाय का यान आक षत करना।

संगो ठ म दो या यान शािमल थे। पहला या यान "भारतीय नािभक य व ुत

काय म" वषय पर ी अ जत कुमार, वै ािनक अिधकार /जी, काकरापार गुजरात थल ारा तुत कया गया। उ ह ने अपने या यान म वै क ऊजा प र य, नािभक य ऊजा क

आव यकता, -चरणीय भारतीय नािभक य ऊजा काय म, एक नािभक य ऊजा संयं का चालन, नािभक य ऊजा संयं के व करणीय एवं संर ा विश टताएं एवं अपिश ट बंधन जसेै वषय को भी शािमल कया।

दसरा याू यान ी ड . पी. नानकर, पयावरण सव ण योगशाला (ईएसएल), काकरापार

गुजरात थल ारा " व करण – जीवन क एक वा त वकता, काकरापार गुजरात थल के आस-पास पयावरण भाव का मू यांकन और ड एई - सामा जक लाभ" वषय पर तुत कया गया। इस या यान म रे डयोस यता के आधारभूत िस ांत, हमारे आस-पास उप थत रे डयोस यता से दैिनक ए सपोजर तथा चालनरत नािभक य ऊजा संयं के कारण अित नग य ए सपोजर वषय को शािमल कया गया। उ ह ने समाज के विभ न े जसेै कसर उपचार, करणन

तकनीक, भोजन वसं मण, नगरपािलका मलजल उपचार, जल शु करण, उ च पैदावार वाली फसल इ या द म परमाणु ऊजा वभाग के योगदान के संदभ म भी व ततृ जानकार द । साथ ह संकाय सद य के िलए उ ह ने एटमटे स सव मीटर का योग कर व करण मापने का दशन कया।

संगो ठ लगभग 11:15 बजे ारंभ हई एवं ु 13:15 बजे तक चली। संगो ठ म ल मी

इं ट यूट ऑफ टे नोलॉजी, सार गाम, वलसाड के 350 से अिधक व ाथ एवं संकाय सद य उप थत हए। ु जन व ािथय एवं सं काय सद य ने संगो ठ म भाग िलया वे विभ न वभाग जैसे िस वल, मेकैिनकल, ऑटोमोबाइल, इले कल एवं कं यूटर साइंस के थे।

सम त व ाथ एवं संकाय सद य नािभक य ऊजा के बारे म जानने हेतु बहत अिधक ु

उ सा हत थे। संगो ठ के दौरान व ािथय ारा नािभक य व ुत संयं के संर ा पहलुओं, नािभक य अपिश ट बंधन, नािभक य व ुत संयं के िनमाण, रे डयोस य िन सरण के पयावरणीय भाव, नािभक य ऊजा संयं के रे डयोस य िन सरण के कार और िन तारण ट इ या द पर विभ न न पूछे गए। व करण के व ततृ अनु योग के बारे म जानने के प चात व ाथ अ य् िधक भा वत हए। व ािथय ारा पूछे गएु सभी न का उिचत उ तर संगो ठ के दौरान दया गया तथा वे नािभक य ऊजा को संर त एवं पयावरण हतैषी बनाने म अपनाए जा रहे मापदंड को समझ पाए एवं उ ह ने इसक शंसा क ।

सं थान के संकाय सद य नािभक य ऊजा संयं चालन के बारे म सा ात जानकार

ा त करने हेतु काकरापार परमाणु व तु क का मण करने को बहत आतुर थे।ु Kakrapar Gujarat Site, NPCIL has been persistently innovating upon its

Public Awareness & outreach Programme with the objective of strengthening the

systematic approach to these activities. On the initiative, encouragement from

Shri L. K. Jain, Site Director, and guidance from Shri Sunil Kumar, Training

Superintendent, Kakrapar Gujarat Site it was decided to expand the area of

Public Awareness.

A seminar on “Indian Nuclear Power Programme”, and “Radiation – A fact

of life and DAE – Society benefits”, was organised at Laxmi Institute of Technology,

Sarigam, Valsad, Gujarat on 10th May 2016. The aim of the seminar was to draw

the attention of student community towards Nuclear Power as Safe, economical,

environmentally benign, long term source of electrical energy and remove the

misconceptions about radiation from their mind.

The Seminar consisted of two lectures. The first lecture was on “Indian

Nuclear Power programme” and was delivered by Shri Ajit Kumar, SO/G,

Operation KAPP-3&4, Kakrapar Site. He has covered the topics such as Global

Energy scenario, Fundamentals of Nuclear Fission, Need of nuclear power, Three

Stage Indian Nuclear Power programme, Functioning of a Nuclear Power Station,

Safety Features of a Nuclear Power Station, and Waste reprocessing and its

management.

The second lecture was delivered by Shri D. P. Nankar, Environmental

Survey Laboratory (ESL), Kakrapar Site on “Radiation - A Fact of Life & Environment

Impact Assessment around Kakrapar Gujarat Site” and “DAE-Societal benefits”. In

this lecture, the topics covered were fundamentals of radioactivity, daily exposure

to natural radioactivity around us and extremely negligible exposure due to

operating nuclear power station etc. He also gave detailed information regarding

contribution of Department of Atomic Energy for the society. The applications of

radioactivity in various fields like cancer treatment, irradiation technique, food

sterilisation, municipal sewage treatment, high yielding crops, etc. were covered.

He has also demonstrated the measurement of natural radiation using Atomtex

Survey Meter to the faculty.

The seminar began at around 11:15 hrs. and lasted up to 13:15 hrs. The

seminar was attended by more than 350 students & the faculties of Laxmi Institute

of Technology, Sarigam, Valsad. The students & the faculties who attended the

seminar were from various Departments like Civil, Mechanical, Automobile,

Electrical and Computer Science.

All the students & faculties were very much enthusiastic about the nuclear

power. During the seminar, students raised various queries regarding Safety

aspects of NPP, Nuclear Waste management, about construction of Nuclear

Power Plants, Environmental Impact of Radioactive Discharge, Types and Routes

of Radioactive discharge from the Nuclear Power Plant etc. After knowing the

vast applications of radiation, the students were highly impressed. All the queries

raised by students were suitably addressed during the session and were able to

understand & appreciate the measures being taken to make nuclear energy safe

& environmentally benign.

The faculties of the institute were eager to visit Kakrapar Atomic Power

Station to get first hand knowledge about Nuclear Power Plant operation.
