Residents say they are outraged at the idea of the old Police Station being made into a males hostel for long-term homeless men. The council have ideas of setting up a male hostel in the Bordesly Green area. It will be located within a close proxi- matey of the South Birmingham College. Locals argue that the students could be potentially affected by the men living in this neighbouring building. Residence from the local community and surround ing areas, might feel that their presence resembles an invasion of unruly resi- dents. The main fear for the community is that the general order will be dis- turbed, it could possibly disrupt a ‘now’ fairly peace ful environment and re- laxed atmosphere and could potentially add to the original crime rate and then increase levels of anti-socal activity that was present before their arrival. The locals claim that their area is a decent and respectable residency with hard-working and prodominantly working-class people that don’t want the Bordesley Green area to be affected by “vagrants”and “vagabonds” Its important to maintain a certain approach for people looking in on their area. It has been taken into account that this area is socially deprived and does could do without any distractions whilst the communty tries to improve the local area. No doubt the area will be affected by all the chaos. However, not all the residents of Bordesley Green are against the idea and some elderly members of the local community have been reported saying “they feel it could be a positive thing for those that will take residency in the hostel itself.” Others dont think the change to the building will make that much of a lasting affect on the overall communtiy and all exsisting members will remain safe; providing the ‘hostel boys’ keep themselves to themselves and do their best to fit in with the environment and even wider society. CITY METRO £75m BOOST

JUST OVER 3 WEEKS AGO a 19 year old girl from the Bordesley Green area was abandoned by her boyfriend after just 10 months, stabbed through the hand after a viscuious disagreement about custody over their 1 month old child. A few hours before the actually attack, the pair were sighted having a loud argument outside the females home in digbeth. He faces 2 years in prison on GBH charges due to the fe-male losing all feeling in her hand and arm she is currently having to recieve physiotherapy treatment weekly. Un-til then, he continues to 'live it up' in a typical 'University student' fashion. Insiders say he has no remorse, they also express strong emotion towards him saying: "he is a bare faced at-tacker and deserves to go down" ... allegedlly the unknown male (for le-gal reasons) did the deed at 11 o'clock in the morning with-out a care in the

world and refused to disscuss the mat-ter further in a public place. The police from the local area are still trying to capture the CCTV footage that sur-rounds the specific area. Witnesses say " he is a coward for what he did and the sentence in jail just isnt enough"

Additionally his charges could be in-creased- maybe involving a heavier sentence; as family of the girl claim she is in hospital experiencing abdominal pains. There is no doubt that the pain are related to the attack and ultimately the stress the mother is under as a result of it.
