Dear friends,
Thank you to everyone who gathered for the recitation of the rosary last Sunday evening. It was a beautiful
way to honor Mary during the month of May. I am certain that Mary was delighted as we were united in
such good number as disciples of her Son in prayer in church and also delighted as we gathered on the
parish lawn for the Ice Cream Social. The bonds of faith that we share were strengthened by both our
prayer and the social. Thank you to Patrick Fish for leading us in the Rosary for Peace and thank you to
our Adoration Committee for hosting the Ice Cream Social.
Please remember that we gather on the third Sunday of every month in the Adoration Chapel to pray the
Rosary for Peace at 8:00 p.m. All are welcome – always!
At the conclusion of the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Pentecost Sunday Peter Agostino and Joey Thatcher carried the Paschal Candle from
its place by the ambo (pulpit), where it had been present throughout the Easter Season, to its place by the baptismal font where it
will remain throughout Ordinary Time. The moving of the Paschal Candle at the conclusion of the last Mass of Pentecost Sunday
was a visible reminder that the Easter Season has concluded.
The Paschal Candle was blessed and lit at our Easter Vigil and now stands as a constant reminder of Jesus’ victory over sin and

Church in the world. It’s hard to look at the Paschal Candle and not say, “Alleluia!” May we never forget that we are called, always
and everywhere, to be an Alleluia People.
Members of the Pastoral Council gathered in prayer to the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday and then chose, by lot, three parish-
ioners to serve on the Pastoral Council. Eleven parishioners had prayerfully discerned a call to service on the Council and had
submitted their names in nomination. We are grateful to all eleven for their generosity and love of the parish. The three names
that were drawn for service on the Council are: Bob Zetzl, Phyllis McNamara and Connie Heneghan. Congratulations Bob, Phyllis
and Connie! We look forward to the gifts you will bring to Pastoral Council.

Do you feel called to visit our
new friends in Haiti? In June a
delegation from Christ the King
& St. Matthews will travel to
Haiti. We will learn about their
challenges, enjoy fellowship,
grow in faith, and serve them
in any way we can. There is still
room on the June trip if you are
able to travel to Haiti and help
with this mission.
Christ the King Parish has
joined St. Matthew Parish to
help develop & support two
parishes in Haiti. One of our
parish goals is to provide school lunches for 350 children at
the two parish schools.
We ask that you prayerfully consider sponsoring a child at a
cost of $20 a month. This will provide lunch for the student for
the entire month. A recurring online donation helps us to pro-
vide consistent and ongoing support. Go to www.ctk-indy.org/
haiti to set up your donation. One-time contributions are also
welcomed and can be placed in an envelope marked Bridge to
Bois de Lance or can be made online.
We are also in need of additional support in our parish Bridge
to Bois de Lance team. If you are interested in serving in any
way or traveling to Haiti in the future, please email us at

!"#$%&'(%)*+,+*"-Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity
Happy Trinity Sunday! In today’s Gospel, we hear Jesus declare
together all three Persons of the Trinity. “Go therefore, and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
When we speak of the Trinity, two different theological words
are sometimes used: immanent and economic. The immanent
Trinity is the life of the three Persons within themselves, the
inner harmonious relationship between Father, Son, and Spirit.
We see this in the Gospels when Jesus speaks of his Father
and promises to send the Holy Spirit. The term “economic” has
its roots in the Greek word oikonomia, roughly meaning “house-
hold management.” The economic Trinity is our three-Personed
God’s relationship with creation; it is creation and redemption
and ongoing relationship with us.
Made in the image and likeness of God, we are called to imitate
God’s immanence by giving and receiving love with one another
in community. However, this is not limited only to those close
to us, though that’s where love often starts. We also imitate
the economy of God when we go out, when we extend our love
and care in a life-giving way. “Go therefore ?”Every believer is
sent on mission. Every believer is invited to follow Jesus and
the Apostles “to the nations,” to the margins, to the people who
require a little extra reach. This could be a distant relative, the
residents of your local homeless shelter or even the forgotten
neighbor next door! When we love well, we create something
beautiful-a relationship, a holy moment, a foretaste of heaven.
This Trinity Sunday, take some time to examine the relation-
ships in your life. How well do you love those nearest to you?
How well do you reach out to those farther away? How are you
creating something beautiful?
./%#+*"-',-)'0-#1%2Question
Why don’t Catholics add the “For yours is the Kingdom...”
prayer at the end of the Our Father like the Protestants do?
Where did it come from?
Answer
The conclusion of the Lord’s Prayer that you refer to is called a
doxology, which is a prayer of glory and praise. This particular
doxology we do use in the Mass. After the Our Father, the priest
prays the prayer that begins, “Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from
every evil...” and the people respond with the doxology. The

indicate that the doxology was connected to the celebration of
the Eucharist and was not used apart from it.
Remember, both the Lord’s Prayer and the Eucharist were
part of the “mysteries of faith,” things taught only to believers.
Ironically, a remnant of a prayer used during the celebration of
the Eucharist has comes to be used widely by many Christian
churches that do not celebrate the Eucharist! Truth is indeed
