3D Exhibition

3D projection – this has become very important to profits as it can generate huge amounts of profit for studios.

3D screening is done in stereoscopic, two images on the screen ever so slightly offset brought together by glasses to create the illusion of depth.

Pirates of the Caribbean – strangers tide made the most profit but was watched by the least audience –this was possible due to the 3D screening.

Fourth film only one made in 3D.

3D

Was your film released in 3D, this could affect where it would be screened and which cinemas?

Was it filmed in 3D?

Was it converted into 3D?

Avatar created the modern version of 3D, James Cameron had the cameras created for that film?

British Board of Film Classification

The BBFC is the regulatory body that certificates each film released in the UK.

(BBFC) is an independent, non-

governmental body funded through the fees it charges to those who submit films and video works for classification. Here, and throughout the Guidelines, video works are taken to include video games, and films and programmesreleased on DVD or Blu-ray, or distributed by means of download or streaming on the internet.

For a film to pass for release often cuts are required to achieve certificate.

Kick Ass – was considered for 18 rather than 15 due to language.

Serbian Film – 49 cuts across 11 scenes.

The Human Centipede 2 – banned / rejected for certificate, several scenes removed.

Women in Black – uncut – however received the most complaints that year due to scaring young children taken in with parents.
