Killing Patton
By Bill O’Reilly & Martin Dugard
General George S. Patton, Jr. died under
mysterious circumstances in the months
following the end of World War II. For
almost seventy years, there has been
suspicion that his death was not an accident--and may very
well have been an act of assassination. Killing Patton takes
readers inside the final year of the war and recounts the
events surrounding Patton's tragic demise, naming names of
the many powerful individuals who wanted him silenced.
Pool Opens Friday, May 15th.
The pool will be open
Friday May 15th: 5:00pm—7:00pm
Saturday, May 16th and Sunday May 17th: 11:00am—7:00pm

11:00am—8:00pm, Tuesday through Sunday.

A nother school year is coming to a close and summer vacation is on the horizon. The
Brickyard is getting ready to spring into summer and provide you with fun and relaxing
activities for the entire family. The salt water swimming pool will open for the weekend
of May 16th and 17th from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. The official pool opening is on May
22nd and the pool season will extend until August 30th due to the groundbreaking for the new Irish
Pub on September 1st. This time is an excellent opportunity to enjoy the “lazy” summer days and
enjoy being with your friends and family. In addition, our Summer Camp is from June 1st through
July 31st this year. Rebecca, our Youth Director, has some fun filled activities planned that will keep
your youth active and engaged. Feel free to contact the clubhouse to reserve your spot today.
We continue to recruit valuable and skilled individuals to add to the Brickyard team. During March
we have added Bobby Williams as a Sous Chef; please refer to the welcome article for more infor-
mation. We have also added additional service staff in the Food and Beverage Department and in
Administration. We are trying to balance the demand of membership services with the necessary
staff to make your club enjoyable.
Please remember that the club will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 5th, in order to allow our hard
working staff time to be with their families. Speaking of time with family, we are planning a feast for
Mother’s Day; please see the cover of this month’s newsletter and remember to make your reserva-
tions early so that we can accommodate your party.
We will continue to keep you abreast of the changes we have planned for your club and update you
with all of the events and happenings at the Brickyard. As always, my door is always open; feel free
to stop by with any questions or concerns. See you at the club!

S o far, the spring is off to a great start and both the Buddy Membership Program and the Seasonal Pool & So-
cial Program are picking up interest quickly! We are drawing closer to the application deadline, however, so if
you have anyone in mind who may be interested in membership, please let me know. You may wish to make
initial contact with the prospective member, and an invitation is always best coming directly from a member,
but I would be happy to make follow-up calls and schedule a tour of the club to get the membership rolling.
Now that the weather is truly warming up and the golf course is turning a brilliant shade of green, I hope to see more of
you at the club and on the course! If you have recently sponsored a member, consider inviting him/her to play a round
of golf with you or have lunch in the dining room! It’s a small way to make our new members feel welcome!
As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions regarding membership, or to request promotional fly-
ers or membership applications. I am always happy to help!

A Note from your Course Superintendent
I hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather. This is always my favorite time of the year. After staring at dormant grass all winter I love to see everything come back to life in the spring.
Last month we started mowing all the areas of the course to get the shape and definition back into the course. We also fertilized and pre-emerged all areas of the course to prevent the summer weeds. I sprayed a lot last month to try and rid the course of the poa annua that popped up. I con-centrated on the fairways, tees, and green com-plexes and we were able to keep them pretty clean. The roughs were sprayed in certain areas to maintain good playing conditions. We also fin-ished cutting down the chordgrass throughout the course and hope to keep the briars from grow-ing back in them this year.
We have a busy schedule in April as well. This is when our mowing really kicks in. We will start our greens maintenance program each week; ver-ti-cutting, double cutting, top-dressing, and plant growth regulator applications. We will be work-ing hard to keep your course in the best playing shape possible.
Looking forward to a great season of golf,
Hope to see you on the course!Briane Faletto, GCS
Class A Superintedent
We Need Your Help!!
Please repair ball marks on green.
Rake bunkers after your shot.
Use 90 degree rule (it helps fairways).
Please register yourself and guests
before going out to play golf.
Please check with Jim Hickman or Luis
before playing a five-some.
Thanks and happy golfing!
The driving range will be closed two hours
before dark every Sunday evening.
This will allow staff to retrieve all range balls from the range. This will
allow our maintenance staff to mow on Monday and will also ensure
that we are not losing any range balls.

-SWING TIP OF THE MONTH-
If you put a log on the ground and asked
someone to take out a chunk of wood
from the log with an ax, they would most
likely swing the ax into the log at an an-
gle and create a sliced out section from
the log. This action is done with an ab-
rupt angle of attack. However, if you
were to ask that same person to drive a
spike into the end of the log with a
sledge hammer, they would use more of
a level approach. This requires less of a
descending strike and more of an ap-
proach from behind the spike, level with
the head of the spike vs. angular. This is
the action you want to feel more of in
your golf swing, not a chopping action.
